    Stunning 4K video quality

Had had a lot of fun w/ a UDI U818A-1 HD drone before bought this Phantom 3 Pro for Christmas. Flew it the 1st time late last year and again this past weekend. I'm very impressed with its 4K video quality. Was flying straight up my property 300 ft in the air. Took video of my neighborhood. Could not believe how clear and beautiful it turned out when I watched on my computer. It showed lots of details of surrounding backyards and houses, even far away ones. No wonder all the privacy concerns! Much easier to control than the U818A-1 (no comparison but the challenge of controlling the U818A-1 is a thriller all by itself) w/ lots of bell and whistles and a very solid DJI Go app. Used my iPad Air and had absolutely no problem whatsoever. Live video feed was very good and controls are clear and easy to understand. Can probably fly this thing all by the video feed w/o visual contact. In fact, saw a news clip showing the fighters on the front line was being trained to fly what appeared to be the same setup and drone model for reconnaissance against the you know what terrorist group.

I did watch dji online support videos before I made my decision to purchase,,, this is one fine drone for the money , extremely easy to operate, takes exceptional still shots and video and with all the fail safe features, low battery, out of range, or just push the return to home button ,,, one word of advice , go ahead and purchase extra battery because 23 minutes is not long enough,, too much fun , swap batteries and go back up

If your in the market for an easy to fly drone, great picture quality and hours of amusement purchase a Phantom, what ever model you can afford. The videos are remarkably clear and if you practice some common sense rules you can avoid crashes with trees and buildings.

This quad is very easy to fly and is a lot of fun. The video quality is superb, and the still pictures are also great. This quad does require semi frequent firmware updates and therefore requires a bit of technical knowledge with both computers and mobile devices.

I don't know where to start. This thing is an absolute beast. This is my second quadcopter/drone I've ever owned. The first one was a cheap $50 dollar one which was a fun toy to mess around with. This Phantom 3 however...whole nother story... I had been looking for a few months, and was reluctant to buy based on the price tag, but I couldn't ignore all the praise DJI gets for their products and I finally decided to do it ...and I couldn't be happier. It really is completely ready to fly out of the box. No tinkering or trimming, this does it all by itself. I would consider myself a complete beginner and I'm having a blast flying it. The controls are very responsive, the gimble is UNREAL! I'm slapping the sticks around crazy fast and the video stays very stable, hardly any shaking whatsoever. The light bridge video feed is crystal clear on my ipad and camera picture and video quality is phenomenal! The app used with it has a lot of information for you including speed, altitude, distance, GPS/map location and tracking. It also logs your entire flight for you to review at a later time which I think is a cool little feature. The "return home" feature is fantastic! Once during my flight I got a little too close to a tree and decided to test the feature out. It works like a champ! It returned to home all on itself and landed within 1 foot of where it originally took off. Great feature for new people like me! Definitely pick up at least one spare battery as you'll want to keep flying after the first one runs out. I've flown for about a week and get about 20-23 mins of flight time depending on how aggressive I've been flying. BUYER BEWARE! People will see this and want to come talk to you about it! That's my only complaint! :)

Not Satisfied with DJI's NFZ policy

The functions of the drone I was able to test were great! The 4k camera had a phenomenal picture. Even while viewing through my iPhone 6, I was amazed at the clarity. The setup was simple. Assembly of the drone was seamless, charging batteries (remote and drone) do not take a very long time. All in all, you can be up and running in no time. Flight with the device is also seamless. Autopilot features, auto-return home, GPS maps, etc. make operating the Phantom 3 Pro very intuitive. Battery life is short while in flight. However, given the number of features on the device, that is pretty understandable. By comparison, the 4K functionality on many popular cameras (that do not fly) significantly shorten the life cycle of each charge iteration when in use as compared to 1080p or 720p due to higher processing requirements, and so. My biggest gripe with the Phantom drone is not so much with the engineering of the device, but more so with a firmware revision that comes installed on the drone. If you happen to live in a NFZ, you cannot operate the device at all. It will not take off. Not 3ft, not 300ft. No flight options. No manual override. Nothing! This $1,200 device becomes a very pricey paperweight. In reviewing the policies on DJI's website, there are plans to remove this restriction, but not for the area I live in. Bummer! Even after the restriction is removed, you will be forced to register the device with the FAA and consent to an agreement that requires some type of payment verification by credit card or debit card. I would have kept the device but it's too expensive considering the limitations of use. Make sure you know where you can use the device before purchasing. I would have to travel approx. 40 miles in either direction before I would be free to use the drone, and for only 25 minutes of flight time, I hardly think it's worth the price.

Hello Sharpeye14. Thanks for the great review of the Phantom 3 Professional. We're so glad you enjoyed using our aircraft. The battery life on the Phantom 3 Professional is actually longer than most in this weight-class of aircraft. Many enthusiasts will carry several batteries along to extend the fun! Also, just to clarify, the No Fly Zone (NFZ) policy is largely dictated by government edict, hence all manufacturers would have to adhere to the restrictions. We sincerely hope that you're able to give the Phantom 3 Professional another try in the future as it seems you had a wonderful time. Regards! DJISupport

This drone flies very stable. The camera, which can be controlled from the remote control is of great quality. It has become a hobby for me, both flying around, filming, taking snapshots. And the distance you can go is beyond my needs or expectations You will need to buy a carrying case

The video quality is very impressive and the DJI Phantom 3 easy to fly. Suggest watching you tube videos and DJI website tutorials before flying since there is very little information provided with the drone.

I own a lot of drones, and this guy is just simply amazing...easy to operate & just stunning video quality. The app is easy and great for beginners but you'll want to eventually upgrade to autopilot once you polish up those drone flying skills.

This is an excellent platform. It's my first drone, after diligent research, I elected this one as my first due to the many features that stabilize which most don't understand. It uses satelliteS other than the typical GPS satellites

It takes Beautiful pictures and flies really high and goes very far away, out of sight. I have to look at what the camera is seeing to know where it is at. I am very satisfied with this product. If something happen to it I would have to go get another one.

I love documenting my adventures with my dogs. I call myself the WooFDriver, and I have over twenty years experience as an urban musher. I harness my team of Huskies to a cart and travel on trails and streets using modified bicycles. The desire to acquire awesome footage has pushed me to take to the air using drones. I’ve been a drone pilot for about a year. I have had a fairly good amount of experience—and lots of adventures—using the Phantom 3 by DJI. In fact, I’ve got two of these drones. Depending on how serious you are and how deep your pocketbook is, I would suggest if possible, buying two of any brand drone you choose. Mishaps happen for all sorts of reasons, and I don’t like to be caught in the field without a backup. I don’t want a mechanical problem to prevent me from capturing any moment of my trip. An example of a drone mishap would be when due to any number of errors, the drone does not land properly. A bad landing can result in small structural damages. Though these are usually easily fixable, instead of taking time in the field, I would rather have one to fall back on, and fix the broken drone later at home. Sometimes the mishap is caused by pilot error. One time, my team and I weren’t using our best judgment when we decided to take the drone out on a sunrise fly near some windmills. You might be able to imagine what we should have realized at the moment, that there would be a bit of wind. We lost the drone. The Phantom 3 got caught up in the winds and it didn’t have the power to fly back to us. I even wrote a song about it! It’s called “Blown Away in 4K.” We can chalk that fiasco up to experience. Luckily, we were able to track the drone with GPS and get it back, but it was a couple miles away. It only sustained minor damage, thankfully, and we got it up and running on our next outing. The Phantom 3 has proven to be pretty hardy and there are many parts available so when these mishaps occur you can find replacements to get it back in flying condition. Its features have made it relatively easy to fly, and it’s an enjoyable machine to use. To my knowledge, the Phantom 3 was one of the first consumer-ready drones available out there on the market for inexperienced fliers. Although, I should preface this by saying I had mingled with drone technology for six years prior to GPS-based drones, back when there were only manual ways to fly them. You had to actually balance them, as well. I own one or two of these early models and hired people to teach me how to fly them, and to also fly them for me. When I first heard about the latest models in the last couple years I was very interested because of the self-hovering technology. The drone’s ability to balance itself means you don’t need any real experience to get it up in the air and start capturing some images. As they evolve, they also have programs that will orbit or follow you, or keep track of you in some way with user-defined flight paths, because of the GPS and self-hovering capabilities. The Phantom 3 was Godsend for people like me who want to get a bird’s eye view of some of the majestic scenery around us, like this. The Phantom 4 has been available now for about nine months to a year, and the DJI Mavic will also soon be available. These drones will add some of the features I wish the Phantom 3 had, like speed. Speed would have given us an edge on the day the Phantom 3 didn’t make it back to us when we were at the wind turbines. The new drones will also allow us to get images without the landing gear getting in the way of the picture. On another one of our adventures we actually flew the Phantom 3 through a tunnel. That time we ran into an issue we didn’t foresee. The Phantom 3 started to kick up its own wind from the air generation of the propellers, which became an obstacle and eventually downed the Phantom 3 in the tunnel because it essentially couldn’t get out of its own way. Let’s say we chalk that one up to experience, too. Thanks for reading! Good luck with your decision, and have a wonderful journey! If you’re still comparing different drone options, check my WooFDriver website to see all the different images and videos taken in the past few years using multiple different drones. If you want to know more about me, just use Google and Facebook! I am the only WooFDriver!
