Ok, I am by no means a pro at flying drones. I just recently started to become interested in drones. I decided to purchase the DJI Phantom 3 Standard and it was definitely one of the best things I've ever bought. I was amazed at how great the camera is and how steady the drone is able to keep it. The flying time is good but I think I'm going to purchase another battery soon. This is definitely a great "beginner" drone. I put that in quotes because it seems like a pro drone when flying. It's very easy to fly and the video/pictures come out flawless. I have now decided to save up to buy the mavic pro and I can't wait to get that one too!

for the price, i really should come with prop guards. other than that, it's an easy drone to fly. it was a toss up between advance and standard, but since BB wasn't selling advance, (and i wasn't about to pay over $1K for pro) i went with standard. produces good pictures. battery recharge time is not as long as i thought it would take. seems like about 2 hours it was full.

Bought for a friend. Takes a long time to setup (download app, download updated software, download updated firmware, etc), but once you do it the controls are pretty intuitive and it works very well. Would be very difficult to crash this thing without trying.

First, let me say that I am by no means an expert. However, I had done lots of research before making the initial purchase of the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. What a great choice. The ease of use of both the product and the Application on the Iphone makes this almost foolproof. Now, with that being said, flying in beginner mode is HIGHLY recommended until you feel 100% comfortable with this unit. I can attest that once you take it off, its all on the user. This is more than likely where the first accident will take place, and it will be mortifying. Trust me, like watching a train accident in slow motion. This product however, can withstand alot of damage without losing flying capability. And also take note that every possible part on this DJI Phantom 3 can be replaced should you break it or it becomes inopperable. Overall, I must conclude, that even though I have crashed twice, both were operator error, and it is definitely a learning curve. My advice, don't get ahead of your flying capabilities until you have mastered all there is to know about this high quality product. I will be a continued purchaser of DJI. Keep up the great work. Purchased this drone after getting a Drone from LA Quads which was absolutely junk. This is by far the best for beginning to fly and has excellent camera videos and pictures. I would recommend changing the props to the carbon ones as they are much better balanced. I would also recommend buying the prop guards until you get pretty good at flying it. I have had no problem with the software or updates. It is a real tough drone with great features.

The camera is very good. Parts accessibility is great. The drone is fast and very stable. It's very maneuverable and maintains altitude well. My five year old grandson can operate it. The range is about a half mile.

This drone is amazing. It's super easy to fly. It takes really great video. Has many more features than I even expected. Really stable even in 8mph winds I have flown it. Well worth the money.

This is a great drone for beginners and advanced Flyers it comes with all the bells and whistles I wouldn't waste my time or money on the imitation drones I would definitely recommend this I was going to purchase the upair 1 drone but didn't like the reviews on it and boy am I glad I purchased this DJI Phantom 3 please don't waste your money on other drones if you're worried about learning how to fly my granddaughter can fly this it's that easy I hope this review helps happy flying.

Great drone for the amateur or hobbyist - camera offers excellent pics, stability is good, battery life is good, ease of use is excellent

This is one of the easiest to fly drones on the market. 1080p and better video, 12mp photos. Great range. Great buy and great drone.

I have had this drone for about 6 weeks, and so far it has been great for my needs. It is on the lower end of the "quality drones" Best Buy has to offer, but is leagues better than the cheaper $50-$100 drones I have tried in the past. We primarily use it to take pictures and videos of jobsites, and the camera is incredible. It takes excellent pictures and videos, and the 3-axis gimbal does a great job of capturing steady shots while in motion. I love that you can view the live feed on your mobile device while flying, which makes it much easier to get the pictures and videos you need. The GPS and return-to-home features work great, and the battery life of 25 minutes is much better than the lower end drones (usually around 5 min). The controls are very user friendly, and make it very enjoyable to fly. The only regret I have in not springing for the Phantom 4 is that the Phantom 3 does not have the obstacle avoidance feature. I have not needed it as of yet, but it seems it would be a nice safeguard just in case. Overall I am very pleased, and would recommend to anyone looking for a good quality starter drone.

Overall the drone flies great. Fast accurate and precise. I do however question the magnetic field that effects its flying. I have been to several places now where I could not fly it due (I am assuming) to the magnetic field. Hopefully this does not happen a lot as I go to more places other then around my home. This thing does fly though where it can. Its amazing and the camera takes great photos and video.

If you are looking to just fly for fun and not looking to push the limit of the drone (meaning you don't care how far u can fly before losing signal) then This is the one for you but after having mine for about a two weeks I noticed how i wish I had bought the advanced model, But all in all I'm still happy with the standard. If it breaks or falls out of the sky it's cheaper to fix the stander then the higher end models if for some reason DJI don't warranty you're drone. I had only had mine for about a month when mine had software malfunction and took off on its own and then landed in someone back yard. Thankfully I was able to find it but it was in pieces, and dji did warranty it.

Amazing video, pictures & incredibly easy to fly...good starter drone but with amazing functions through the DJI GO app...must buy...easy to setup & fly right out of the box

Great product. Easy to setup and get started flying right away. Only complaint I have is that I would like to be able to reverse an update if I need to. As it is now all updates are forced on you or you can not fly. If the update causes problems. As it is now. You can not reverse the update and get back to flying.

I was skeptical about this drone purchase but let me tell you that this was the best purchase I have ever made. Aside from the update issues I have not had any trouble with this drone. The camera is great. I can say that this is not my first drone. I have the first and second gen Parrot AR drones and this drone leaves them in the dust. With features like follow me, auto take off and landing, this drone exceed where most fall behind. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the tedious firmware updates.

The Phantom 3 standard is a well built machine. It is ultra steady fairly quite and the camera takes very nice pictures. The camera gimbal is ultra steady. It is easy to fire up and fly. The auto take off is great and the return home works good. Running in GPS mode it is rock solid in the air and hovers well. Be very careful since this model does not have sensors to avoid objects like the higher end one does. That is something I miss. The battery life is as advertised about 20 minutes. Once you get used to flying it you will want a couple of extra batteries. I purchased third party leg extension which lifted it up about 2" and they are wider to assist in landing. If you land in any type grass the camera will be in it without lifting the drone up. The software you download seems to work well, but the video can lag a bit. Don't know if there is any fix for this. With different modes new flyers can feel safe since the distance and height are regulated. Once you get used to it you can turn these off. I do wish there was a zoom function on the camera, but you can't have it all. You can't go wrong with this Drone.

Excellent does not damage easily , flew with a phantom advance the standard was better and cheaper it's well worth the money a must, prop guards

I have never flown anything before that I wasn't through with after the first time. Not this one, I have flown it every day since I picked it up. I have had a few crashes because when I get under a little pressure I will go the wrong way every time. It is very durable. The only damage that has happened was one of the prop ends broke. The crashes happened because of me not the copter (except one) I was amazed at how easy it is to fly. Be careful if flying without the app. My battery got low and it, I guess, was auto coming home and decided home was in a tree. I thought it was my last flight but it is fine- no damage even after I roped the limb and shook it out of the tree. When I get good at flying it I am getting a more advanced larger drone. It makes amazing aerial photo's.

The standard drone is perfect for trolling about the yard and up and down the beach. After tinkering a bit, I thought it better to go all-out and bought the Professional variant. Why? I wanted something with longer range. Still, you get quite a bit of usefulness out of the base model: camera works, the controls work well enough (just don't go too far), and the quadcopter is easy to fly. It basically flies itself, you just tell it where you want it to go!
