I dint think a sequel to the shinning after 40+ years would be any good...but they exceeded my expectations when they did this one, The story line is great, connecting the two stories after so long of a time is supremely done and its not a story line that you can easily guess as it proceeds along.....which makes it all the more enjoyable!!! I recommend this to any King "the Shinning" fan.

Doctor sleep is a great film, not that scary at all as expected but really enjoyable. It's good follow up and sequel to the shining, and even shines some light on some questions some people may have had about how the shining works. I did hear the book had a more complete circle ending, but if you're like me and don't read any of the books and just watch the movies, you'll most likely enjoy the ending. The 4k picture quality overall is great, lots of good detail on face, hairs and backgrounds. But it is a darker tone movie, so don't expect to many bright colors.

This is an amazing movie and an awesome Blue-ray! I recommend it for anyone who likes The Shining as well as to Ewan McGregor fans! Though, I must warn that the story goes pretty dark and there are a few moments or sequences that are likely to disturb with their macabre or violent content! Still, I love this. Obie and the Blue-ray was well packaged and includes the Director’s cut!

Here lately, Hollywood has been cranking out some awesome Stephen King movies with IT Chapters 1&2. Here enters Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. I found the movie to be quite entertaining and a must for any King fan. I have not yet read the book, which as usual is said to be much better than the movie. However, this movie blows away it's predecessor and is as enthralling as the novel The Shining.

Loved watching this movie on cable television, and definitely wanted to own it. It’s an awesome sequel to The Shining. The story is fantastic and the actors all delivered incredible performances. I ran to my nearest Best Buy to pick it up. But honestly as much as I enjoyed the theatrical version, the director’s cut included on the blu ray is EVEN BETTER!!! A whole hearted RECOMMEND!!!

Mike Flanagan directs this great sequel to an already epic film. Stays pretty true to the novel despite a couple of changes. Ewan McGregor is great as an older and troubled Dan Torrance. Rebecca Fergesun as Rose the Hat steals the movie with her magnetic and menacing performance. The young actress who plays Abra is someone to watch out for. With its long runtime the film doesn't really feel long.

Was eager to see this in the theater, but couldn't find the time so I was pleased to see this release. I was impressed with the acting, the actors and especially the story adaptation. I was curious as to how the story was going to be adapted and I believe that Flanagan did an exceptional job. The 4k presentation was superb and I truly appreciated the Directors cut. A great package. An easy recommendation.

Many didn’t realize this was based off of the follow up novel of the same name to The shining when it’s trailer dropped. Most assumed it was a cash grab sequel but it is not, it’s a very good story that keeps the shining lore fresh. It closely follows the senseless novel, Kubrick’s film and some of the shining mini series. The few changes made from the book are well earned as well

I saw "Doctor Sleep" in theaters, and thought it was great. It's too bad that a lot of people didn't see it or get a chance to see it in theaters, it had very poor box office numbers for such a large release (domestically). I re-watched the movie tonight, this time watching the directors cut. This version is a little better than the theatrical cut, for sure. I was still bored for the first 30 minutes or so, but as soon as Danny becomes "Doctor Sleep" it gets good, and eventually great. This steelbook is amazing looking, also.

As a collector of blu-rays, I absolutely love this Best Buy Only Steelbook edition of Doctor Sleep. Thank you Best Buy for providing this edition and making available to collectors like myself. Being a tremendous fan of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, I went to see this movie in the theaters on opening night. I loved it. Needless to say as soon as it came out on disc, I had to make the purchase and I also bought it in the steelbook version and I am so glad that I did. The 4K video quality is amazing and it has a phenomenal Dolby Atmos track. Very very satisfied with this purchase.

This movie was never going to love up to Kubrick's The Shining. Once you put that comparison aside; this is a great movie. High quality modern horror, good characters, deep story and themes. The 4k disc also looks great with bright colors and deep blacks. Dolby Atmos tracks on the disc is among my favorites. I also LOVE that the 4k comes with a Blu Ray copy of the Directors Cut!

I really liked it. I know the director of this movie focused on detail and counted the exact number of books in the study from the original film to make it have the same feel of this sequel many years later. Ewan McGregor did a great job portraying the son from the original Shining movie all grown up. Really enjoyed it and now a permanent part of my 4K Blu ray collection.

As a kid growing up in the 80’s, The Shining was by far one of the most scariest and creepiest movies I’d ever seen. One of my favorites for certain. Fast forward 30 years or so and finally a sequel??!! I’m all in! I’ve watched this film multiple times already and notice new things each time. In short- great movie! For all those The Shining fans will equally enjoy this movie.

I bought this for my son. I love King and have read most of his work. Truth be told it's been so long since I've read "The Shining" that I might as well have not read it at all. I have not read "Doctor Sleep" either so I really can't give an accurate review,but, I can fill up" space here...so, there it is. Maybe my son will let me borrow his movie and then I can re-review this.

First off I want to talk about beat buy for coming through. It came way faster than I thought it would. I'm usually scared to do shipping especially when it comes to steelbook's because it is very sensitive but everything seems ok so far. As for the film, I've seen it twice in theatres and had to get my 4k. I don't get a chance to watch the dc but I'm sure ill love that too.

I read the Shining and love the classic Kubrick film and was excited to see the follow up story (never read the book) which doesn't disappoint. Ewan McGregor was a good choice for the grown up Danny Torrence. Rebecca Ferguson shines as the villainess and looks really good while doing it! yes there is a return to the Overlook for a final showdown. Check it out.

Stephen King has had a phenomenal last 3 years. With the success of IT and IT Chapter 2, Doctor Sleep continues the successful run of amazing adaptations. It was a superb novel and a superb script! Even if you aren’t a fan of Kubrick’s version of The Shining or a fan of King films, this one will keep you engaged and give you chills. I recommend this film all day, every day.

I purchased this movie for my husband's birthday. I am not a Stephen King movie fan because I can not handle horror movies; however, I caught myself watching this movie over my husband's shoulder. This is an excellent movie and is perfect for viewers who can not handle a lot of blood and gore. I highly recommend it and I have watched it multiple times by myself.

Sequels rarely live up to their originals, and given the original for Doctor Sleep was The Shining, this was always going to be tough. Thankfully the movie leaves all retread to the 3rd act and manages to stand on its own two feet and 'shine' by itself. I've watched both 4K and 2K discs and the PQ/audio transfers on both are great. Highly recommend.
