I enjoyed this film far more than I expected to considering what it had to live up to. I'd say it holds up well until the final act, which wasn't terrible but certainly could have gone in another, perhaps better, direction. I've yet to watch the Director's Cut, perhaps that will improve things somewhat. The picture and audio quality are what one would expect from the format these days, and the steelbook looks fantastic!

I was blown away with this movie! It had a great mystical/horror element! Some scares and some disturbing scenes along with a great continuation of the Shining. On top of that it paid homage to Kubrick vision and Kong’s’ book(s)! I really loved this movie. The 3 hour directors cut flew by! Can’t praise this movie enough!!

I was pleasantly surprised with this Movie. I love the Stanley Kubrick Movie "The Shining", so I was worried about a sequel being made, so many years later. They did a Great Job. Great Screenplay, Acting, Directing and Cinematography. It's a great ride...have fun with this morning; it has some nostalgia too!!

After reading the Doctor Sleep book, I decided to watch the movie after hearing mixed reviews. I watched the extended cut, which I had heard was better than the theatrical release and enjoyed the movie. It was a good movie that followed the book fairly well, however several points get missed. Overall, the movie iis serviceable and scary at moments but it does a good job of connecting the the Shining book and movie in the end.

I want to start out by saying this is not as good as the Shining, and the bad guys are almost like supervillains. But you can tell that the director was a fan of The Shining, and he respectfully builds upon that world. I always wondered what Danny Torrance would be like as an adult, and Ewan McGregor does a great job portraying him. I highly recommend this to any fans of the Shining.

What a great movie and tribute to both the book and the movie of The Shining which are two different stories. This movie ties them both together to make a great consistent story that honors the original as well as the new book Dr. Sleep. It is beautifully shot with a great soundtrack that also honors The Shining.

I really enjoyed this movie. I am a fan of all things Steven King and this movie is a fun ride. I love the original Shining which is a great film in it's own right. I was hesitant when I saw a sequel, but Dr. Sleep is it's own film. It certainly connects to the first film, but it's a very different experience in a very good way. It also has a few moments that I know Steven King really liked. Wink, Wink, nudge, nudge!

This is a great 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray title. I love Steven King and his stories. The Atmos track is off the charts good and if you have a proper Atmos theater room, you will love this mix! I am a bit disappointed that the Director's Cut is Blu-ray only but is available as a Digital Copy...

Great follow up of Stephen Kings "The Shinning". It had been a long time since seeing The Shinning but even if you have never seen, it this movie did a good job at setting up the story line to give you enough information as to not be lost. Highly recommend the Directors Cut as it had a lot more great scenes.

Very underrated film. Highly recommend the director’s cut. I actually prefer it over the theatrical version, which I thought was just “OK” the first time I watched it. The Director’s Cut is much better paced and fleshed out. The steelbook is great too, very nice design on the cover. Highly recommended.

I have been a fan of The Shining since I was a kid, it’s one of my all time favorite movies. This was a fantastic follow up to the aforementioned classic. It’s not as scary or dark but more of a murder mystery thriller kind of film. It’s great I was leery about it ruining the first film but does a great job!

Wow, just finished watching Doctor Sleep and it was really a good movie! Much better than I thought it would be. I loved the tie-ins and flashbacks to The Shining. The little girl Abra Stone played by an AMAZING young actress named Kyliegh Curran really did an incredible job, honestly I'd say she stole the show. There were some scenes that I, at first, thought they had taken directly from The Shining but they actually re-created them in this movie. Very well done. Had me completely fooled. The attention to detail was mind blowing and showcased the skills of both the director and the actors/actresses. There was one scene that really bothered me and I felt could have been done in a different way and still got the point across. Without giving anything away, it was a scene involving extreme child violence and for me it really ticked me off! It almost made me stop watching but fortunately I continued. The Shining is a great classic and honestly didn't need a sequel but Doctor Sleep is a welcome addition and one I do recommend a watch.

Dr. Sleep is a worthy sequel to The Shining. Builds upon the Shining's mythology through Danny Torrance as an adult. Brings in various new players that build upon this world with various call-backs to The Shining. If you're a fan of that, this will be an entertaining ride for you. And I'm pretty sure there's a few scenes that will rattle around your head for awhile. Check this out.

Love this movie! Only thing better could’ve been having the shining also included on the same disc. Well worth the space it takes up! Great sequel to one of the already greatest movies ties the book ending in to the original and recaptures many of the famous scenes through its story.

I was hesitant about this movie at first because The Shining is such a classic movie. But, surprisingly, this movie holds true to The Shining while still being new and original. Great use of the original music and the cast is great. If you can still pick up the steelbook, I would definitely go for it.

While I was excited going into Doctor Sleep with the involvement of Director Mike Flanagan and Ewan McGregor, the movie far exceeded my expectations. The only minor complaint I could have is the long run time, but there is very little that could be cut out. One of the best Directors working today.

Really slow to start, picks up then ends on a soft note. I did enjoyed the cast but felt this fell on empty promise of epic psychic battles. Seriously, though was this supposed to be scary? I think I was more on the edge of my seat with The Shining. Let's not forget the regurgitation of the original film clips throughout the movie. It's a pass if you're looking for something horror-based.

Doctor Sleep is going to be listed as one of the best film adaptions of a Stephen King novel in the coming years. Great story, well acted with some great effects. Those of us that prefer a Director's Cut will not be disappointed in this one. Highly recommended from a long time King reader and film fan.

I was interested since I saw the trailer for this one. I really enjoyed this movie. It was eerie and very dark. Even though it was slow paced it held my attention and made me tense up...just a little bit. The acting and story are on point. The little bit of action/gore we get are really good too.

My wife and I liked The Shining, so seeing this sequel several years later was really cool. I thoroughly enjoyed the film as did she. I think she still prefers The Shining, but I was a huge fan of this one. Ewan did a great job in the lead role as Danny. And Rebecca was amazing as the villain!
