Not counting the few seconds during the 50th special, or the regeneration scene itself at Christmas, this is our introduction to the new Doctor, and it's a ... mixed bag. As is typical, the new Doctor spends part of the episode taking a nap, having flashbacks of his previous selves, and finally seems to snap into his new personality near the end. The new season-long baddy, "Missy" gets her brief introduction, and we have our old friends Strax, Jenny, and Jenny's lizard-woman wife Vastra, teaming up with the plot device - sorry, Clara - to help save the day. I do wish they had done something with Clara. She is not a character. She's a paint-by-numbers plot device. But, if you can get past her, the Doctor is fun. He's in his new body now, and seems to have the best traits of the Third and Sixth Doctors, with just a hint of the Valeyard mixed in. The FX look amazing, and I am loving the new intro, complete with Capaldi's face in the credits.

Deep Breath is a slow but strong start to the new series of Doctor Who. I had long been looking forward to this premiere all year, and did it deliver! I was mostly excited over the casting of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, having had been a long fan of his from being familiar as the wonderfully foul mouthed British Bureaucrat Malcolm Tucker in the amazing series The Thick Of It. His Doctor is probably the best of the most recent series. Wise yet ornery, caring and compassionate, yet realizes touch decisions will have to be made, involved, yet distant, a wonderfully nuanced central performance that kicks the new series off to a great start,

Deep Breath has breathed new life into this classic series. Although I've loved all the Doctors in the rebooted series, Peter Capaldi has peppered his interpretation with an undeniably classic Who flair. More alien than his predecessor, 12 has no desire to "fit in" and it shows in his quirky delivery.

This debut episode features Peter Capaldi in his first full, official outing as the newly regenerated 12'th Doctor. A great intro to a new actor, but the full set is coming soon. And the upcoming Christmas episode won't likely be part of that set, so get ready to get it as well.

Doctor Who restarts the cycle with a more mature Doctor. His companion Clara is having trouble understanding the change, and is rather directly, called out on it. All the while, the threat he faces recalls an event from his past. And a dinosaur. Hey, its Doctor Who!

This is an excellent intro to the 12th doctor and how he may relate to his companions. This doctor may may prove more distant and darker than the last two. Worth purchasing as the seasons are usually somewhat high priced.

Not used to buying episodes. The extras are worth it. Wish you would sell the older series again. The pre movie ones. I travel to Cardiff every year just to stock up on the back catalog.

The Dr.Who series is back with an excellent introduction of the new doctor. Memories of the first Doctor, but with a lot more style and character development.

This long-running BBC series just keeps getting better. The special effects keep improving. this new addition to the seriesthere's a lot of fun to watch.

"Deep Breath" introduces the New Dr as he tries to decide who he is as works through his first case. The copy is very good and the BBC's sets and special effects are up to the challenger of BluRay. However, this is a very different doctor from those that proceeded him.

My son loved the video it was a B'day gift for him. He has almost all the Dr. Who videos so I was happy to have found one he did not own at Best Buy.

it was a good value the kids watched it 3 times in a 24 hour period. new dr is a bit odd but that is the show i guess.

With a new Doctor in charge, this premiere episode is a must watch with more info. on this very different "DR. WHO"!

This debut of the 12th Doctor put to rest any worries I had about Capaldi taking over for Matt Smith.

I like the newer Dr. Who series and the younger doctors bring more energy to the series. This new Dr. Who isn't bad. I'm willing to give him a chance and looking forward to this season.

I enjoyed the episode that introdused the new Doctor. It had funny and sad moments.

This is a must have for all Dr. Who fans who don't have BBC access.

Great episode. DVD works great. I wouldn't sell this for the world.
