    An Imaginative Story

The Mind Robber's premise is the TARDIS is accidentally catapulted into an alternate dimension during an emergency takeoff to avoid the machine being destroyed by lava. The find themselves in the land of fiction which is controlled by a pulp writer from the early 20th century who was kidnapped to run things. The writer seeks to return to Earth to live out his last days and needs a replacement. In order to avoid being imprisoned in this dimension, the Doctor must win a game of wits and imagination. The story brings in several famous fictional characters including Gulliver, Cyrano and Rapunzel, plus some not so famous ones like wandering robot soldiers and a German comic book hero. To save money there was a story with no set, just a white background which symbolized the area outside the imagination. There was also another actor that played Jamie for a couple episodes as Frazier Hines was ill during filming. The explanation was that the Doctor messed up a puzzle that was supposed to re-animate Jamie after he had been captured and stored away by the robots. In all the story was imaginative but tended to drag in parts due to the budget issues.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and I'm trying desperately to find all available episodes of the Classic Doctor Who so I was very pleased to find some here at Best Buy! Especially hard to find any Patrick Troughton DVD's. Thank you Best Buy for stocking these DVD's. Keep up the good work! Love this story and will buy more of other titles.

It may not have been the best serial of the Second Doctor (the machines are powered how?), but it's enjoyable, the plot keeps moving.

Much of Troughton's library had been destroyed. For a time this was one of his best available stories. I don't think it reached the potential it could have but is enjoyable as well. Frazier Hines took ill and was replaced by another actor for a couple of episodes, hilarious explanation.

"The Krotons" gives us Patrick Troughton at his zany best, with lots of humor, plenty of mystery and good guests. The Krotons themselves are terrible to look at - really silly and cheap.

Remember those old episodes of Star Trek where Kirk fools a master race into self-destruction, freeing their slaves? This is how they should have been written and acted.
