Two classic Hartnell era stories with the introduction of Vicki (replacing Susan) as the Doctors companion. A must have!

While a few of the early Doctor Who episodes are good examples of poor special effects and mediocre stories, this one fits the bill although I can see where watching this back when it was first broadcast as being something special to watch. I was surprised to find this DVD available once again after being discontinued for a while, and I'm glad the price came down as a result instead of 10 times the amount which some people were selling it for online. Of course, if you're a collector of the classic Doctor Who DVDs like I am, this is a must-have.

This is the original beginning stories for Doctor Who with William Hartnell. The Time Meddler is concerning another time lord travelling in time to a point in which he wants to change history. The Doctor though becomes wise about him and his TARDIS as he pretend to be a Monk. The story is well written and no special effects needed when this story was made. I would recommend this title to a growing collection of Doctor Who.

This DVD is actually two stories run together despite the fact they don't tie together. The Space Museum involved the Doctor along with his companions Ian, Barbara and Vickie finding themselves viewing their future selves in a museum. In order to avoid this future, they must change what lead up to it. First they must find out how it happened without getting drawn into it. The premise of the Chase is the TARDIS is being tracked by the Daleks who are bent on the destruction of its occupants and to steal its technology for their own. Its got some good sections, but for the most part its like a silly game of tag. Where its significant is we say goodbye to original companions Barbara and Ian while introducing Steven. Peter Purves, who played Steven, was also in one of the episodes as an Alabama tourist visiting the Empire State Building just before the Daleks pop in to continue the chase.

fun story from the early days of doctor who. I thought they had a small budget during the tom baker years. this is obviously a smaller budget yet.

First serial - The Dr. & Crew are trapped in a weird space museum and are trying to avoid being the museum's latest exhibits.
Second serial finds the gang being chase by several, most notably, The Daleks.
Good value for the money!

A classic Dalek series with the first Doctor.

The series features the first Doctor, William Hartnell, and is the second appearance of the Daleks in a script written by Terry Nation, the creator of the Daleks. Set in England, the year is 2164, the Daleks have invaded Earth and enslaved the human race. It is an epic six episodes and among the best with William Hartnell. The cinematography is better than most of the previous episodes as more was shot on location and in a bigger studio, but the special effects and sound are still a bit cheesy. If that bothers you, in the special features of the DVD, there is a option to view more modern, computer generated effects. If you are a fan of the modern Doctor Who series, these episodes really show why the Daleks are a feared and ruthless enemy, even when it first aired in the 1960's. The show was originally intended for 8 - 14 year olds but these villians are brutal. The Daleks eerily patrol vacant landmarks of London. It must have cast a pall on Londoners to see Daleks invading places as Trafalgar Square, Westminister Bridge, Whitehall, with Big Ben in the backgroud. The commentary features of the episodes are brilliant, giving a lesson on the history of the filming, the series, and why the effects were less then spectacular. The second disk has other features, interviews, and photos. "Then and Now" is the best with a look at the locations when they were orginally shot and how they look now. The worst is "What Ever Happened to Susan" which is a audio "interview" of Susan and others and what happened to her afterwards. She is whiny and bitter and does not add anything to canon of Doctor Who. They are worth seeing once.

The final Hartnell serial to be released on DVD is a wild adventure romp. Shrunk down to an inch tall, the travelers have to face the perils of an average household to get home again. The reconstructed "missing" episode is a special treat.
