Genre: Comedy, Drama Length: 12 episodes "Harumi Kazuhito was the ultimate bookworm, spending days at a time with his head buried in his beloved books, and little could make him happier than perusing the pages of his favorite author, Kirihime Natsuno. Unfortunately, Harumi's life goes to the dogs, literally, when he gets himself killed while trying to stop a robber! Thanks to the power of a true bookworm, however, Harumi inexplicably finds himself reincarnated as a dog... which might not be so bad if dogs could READ. Or if the woman who adopts him didn't have twin predilections for playing with scissors and tormenting her new pet! But what truly makes this strange reincarnation the worst of all possible worlds is that she's also his FAVORITE AUTHOR! The horror! Can Harumi find a way to live with this tantrum throwing typist, or will her crazed clippings prove to be his undoing? Can he escape her constant hounding via the doggy door, or is he barking up the wrong tree? There's a rough, rough time ahead as canine compulsive readers and literary she-wolves get snippy with each other when doggies do what they gotta do in DOG & SCISSORS!" Dog & Scissors is certainly an interesting anime series. When it first came out, very little was said about it at all on the web aside from a few screenshots and memes. After finding it on sale for $26.99 during the current promotion from Best Buy, I decided to order it along with about 5 other titles. Had one of my brothers over playing games and got him to watch it with me, too. The plot: The description basically said it all. That is the plot in a nutshell. Harumi is brought back to life due to his desire to read the last book from Kirihime in her Seven Deadly Sins series, "Lust". The name that he knows her by is actually Shinobu Akiyama. Don't understand why they put her real name in the description since it's not her pen name that readers know her by. We're introduced to a few side-characters but otherwise it's a lot of random stuff happening every day. Plot starts out good, but it flat-lines pretty quick. The graphics are pretty decent for DVD. Don't expect any awe-inspiring backgrounds or beautifully orchestrated fight scenes. There is not an English dub for this, so you'll have to read subtitles unless you're fluent in Japanese. Music wasn't something that catches your attention, either. Overall, the rating is probably closer to a 3.5 due to the sever lack of plot development, but I was nice and rounded up. There are quite a few pervy moments as well which contribute to the M rating. No nudity that I witnessed. The comedy aspect definitely helped keep my interest in this series. There's a bit of drama which I found odd as it handles it quite well, but doesn't use it to advance the story at all. I'll have to consider reading the light novels in the future to see if the real story is better. Enjoy!
