I think it's better for cameras than pan heads, you can adjust your camera in almost any angle. Pan heads works best for camcorders. This tripod is sturdy and well built. It holds my Canon T3i and lens nicely. It's the 1st Dolica I've owned and think they're a class act. They include a very nice carrying case and a holster shoulder bag for your camera. I can put my camera in the bag with the lens attached for quick shooting when needed. although this is a modest priced tripod.... as tripod's go, it's a good one. I've owned about 6 or 7 other tripods over the years and this is the best one yet.
