I thought this movie would be so-so and I wanted to wait until it was out to rent. Much to my surprise this movie was very very good.

A solid directorial debut if a little undercooked. It's bogged down by weak characterization and as vibrant and insightful as the film is as it explores familiar themes, it leaves you wanting something deeper, instead it only scratches the surface. At a running time of 89 minutes, an extra 10 minutes of character development could have--and should have--helped.

Don Jon was witty and funny but still had a serious over tone. Great first movie for Levitt. Johanneson played an interesting character

Movie was good overall, but some parts dragged. The plot was different then others I've seen and quite realistic. Decent movie overall.

This was not the best movie I have ever seen, but it wasn't the worst either. For Gordon-Levitt's writing and directing debut it was okay, just an average movie. It has some funny moments and some interesting story lines, but is fairly unfocused and out of balance overall. Still though, the cast was really good and it was entertaining.

Not a bad first movie for the first time director. Not complicated as a story but shows the actor director's potential.
