Even though I'm giving this game three stars, that doesn't mean it isn't a good game. I simply don't feel that this game does enough as all throughout this is a game about smashing the environment and then smashing some more and more after that. It's not much of a platformer which is why this game greatly pales in comparison to Mario Odyssey. It is one of the most unique titles on Switch 2 in its first year, so I'd still it's worthwhile to own if you have a Switch 2. I imagine in the years to come, there will be a lot of awesome exciting titles that are even better for Switch 2. But for now, I'd say it's a worthwhile purchase.

It’s so fun & it can get addicting to play once you get deeper into the game! Would recommend to anyone who wants an amazing platformer to play on Switch 2

After playing this for one day, I can tell the Switch 2 should’ve delayed and launched with this game. It’s got a great plot and depth.
But I understand Nintendo probably wanted to launch the system with a Mario titled game.

OKE!! D.K… DONKEY KONG!
What a guy. I love that big hairy boi. Not gonna lie, I got a little bored of the game, but I’m glad DK finally got a new 3D game

It's a blast at first, but it's gimmick of destroying the terrain gets old and repetitive nearing the later half of the game. Leaves little desire to play after completing the game to 100%.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Donkey Kong Bonanza is the wild, chaotic platformer fans have been waiting for. It takes everything we love about the series—jungle energy, playful charm, and big personality—and dials it up with fresh mechanics that make exploration feel bigger than ever.
What Works:
• The destructible environments are a standout. Smashing walls, tearing through terrain, and uncovering secrets feels natural and addictive.
• Levels are huge and full of surprises, blending platforming, puzzle-solving, and free exploration.
• The art style pops on the Switch 2—lush jungles, detailed temples, and colorful side characters that keep the game lively.
• Tons of collectibles, hidden challenges, and side content give completionists plenty to chase.
What Could Be Better:
• Performance can stumble during chaotic sequences, with occasional frame drops in docked mode.
• Co-op feels fun but undercooked compared to single-player.
• Difficulty leans on the easy side—don’t expect the punishing challenge of older Donkey Kong Country titles.
Verdict:
DK Bonanza is a joy to play—fun, inventive, and bursting with personality. It’s not flawless, but its energy and creativity outweigh the rough edges. Whether you’re smashing through levels solo or casually exploring with friends, this is a must-play for Switch 2 owners.

This game is fantastic. Even for older audiences, this game scratches an itch that many others do not. The level destruction is unmatched, enabling you to destroy a level almost down to only fundamental buildings. The co-op mode is fantastic, if not a little easily abused. The game is just plain satisfyingly fun. It starts out fun, and manages to keep that energy for every second of its playthrough, with not a single dull moment. I normally hate "collect-a-thon" games but this game had me trying to find every single collectible in a level before I proceed to the next.
I highly recommend this game to new gamers and veterans alike, on account of how easy it is to just pick it up and play, but also it's ability to make the somewhat simple gameplay very satisfying for those coordinated enough.
