This is the first 3D Donkey Kong game since DK 64 and the return to form can not be overstated. This game is not only a Donkey Kong game but also feels like a follow up to Mario Odyssey. The terrain destruction is super satisfying and the platforming balances easy exploration with the option to perform more advance techniques to add challenge. There are also numerous challenge levels which range from a quick easy combat section to what feels like an entire level from Donkey Kong Country games or Mario Galaxy. The only gripe I have with the game is that while the bosses are varied and fun they tend to be quite easy to beat in a short amount of time. This doesn't apply to near the end of the game where things ramp up quite a bit. Excellent game and just what the Switch 2 needed to keep up its momentum.

I’ve been playing Donkey Kong Bananza on the Nintendo Switch 2 and it’s been a really fun experience. The game keeps the classic Donkey Kong style but adds new mechanics and levels that make the adventure feel fresh.
The levels are colorful and creative, and the gameplay is fast-paced with plenty of platforming challenges. It’s easy to pick up and play, but there’s still enough challenge to keep things interesting as you progress.
Overall, it’s a great game for fans of Donkey Kong or anyone who enjoys platforming games on the Switch 2.
Pros: Fun platforming gameplay, colorful levels, great for quick gaming sessions
Cons: Some levels can be a bit challenging at times

It had been a while since we last saw Donkey Kong in a brand new game. It's been slim pickings, with the recent entries being just ports of a Wii and a Wii-U game, and he hadn't had a 3D platforming game since since 1999! Well, not to worry, because Donkey Kong returns in a triumphant new adventure!
This game is a blast to play! You play as Donkey Kong being accompanied by a young girl named Pauline, as they head to the planet's core to stop a brand new villain named Void Kong and his minions. Along the way, you explore sublayer after sublayer of what are truly some gigantic levels! The gameplay consists of smashing your way through enemies and obstacles, and some few very well placed bosses. I was skeptical of this game at first, with it looking very different from the typical Donkey Kong game, and wondering how it would perform on the Switch 2. Well, not to worry, because the game performs supremely well on the new console! There are a few framerate hitches here and there, as the screen gets truly filled with stuff during some bonus levels, but for the most part, the Switch 2 does incredible work with rendering the world of this very vibrant looking title. Best of all, ALMOST EVERYTHING is breakable in the game!!!
That's right, you can break almost everything! This is the most impressive thing in the game by far - the fact that you can destroy almost every inch of the terrain if you really put your mind to it! This game is made by the same developer of Super Mario Odyssey, and you can tell they spared no expense in the detail they put into this finely tuned title. The destructibility of the environment is something that becomes very important, as it forces you to think creatively in order to overcome some of the obstacles in your way. And boy are there A LOT of things to collect in the game, as you fight your way past those obstacles. This game reinvigorates the collectathon genre, in a way I've rarely seen before.
All of the old mainstays from the series are here, including Diddy Kong and Cranky, and Rambi, even if you don't play as them, and the new cast complements the series well. Pauline proves to be a more than suitable replacement for Diddy, with her having her own unique powers that you unlock stuff with throughout the game. The primary of these are the Bananza transformations she bestows on DK with her singing, which are great fun to play and are wild to see on screen!
This is one of the best games Nintendo has produced recently. It is addictive, and you will struggle to put down the controller once you get really into the game, because of how much fun you're having. Along with Mario Kart World, this is easily one of the reasons to own a Nintendo Switch 2. It is a supremely crafted game, and one that the gaming industry needs more of - just pure fun from beginning to end, without the need for a massive overwhelming story or the combined budget of three Hollywood blockbusters. Here's hoping this spurs publishers to re-invest more in these types of games, and come out with pleasant surprises like a new Spyro or Banjo Kazooie game, or the holy grail, a new Ape Escape game. Astro Bot was already doing a tremendous job showing how incredible platformers can be, and Donkey Kong Bananza rolls the ball even further.
Practically perfect in every way, with only a few very minor flaws to quibble over.
Highly recommended!!!

This game made me very glad I got a Switch 2 in its first year while there are still so few exclusive games. It's extremely unique in gameplay with the fully destructible environments. Most of the game is on the very easy side, but it's fun just to explore and smash everything. If you played Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 back in the 90's you'll love some of the nostalgic bits they put in.

This game is goated. One of Nintendo's best. would recommend it to everyone. There's a lot of content in the game, so kids and adults would be engrossed in it for hours on end. I wish the game were a little harder, though, but it is a Nintendo game, so there's no surprise there.

Safe to say this is the best (original) Switch 2 title as of today.
Excellent level design & crazy fun gameplay, loads of great easter eggs to spot as well, this really does have a ton in common with Mario Odyssey given its studio also made Bananza. The boss fights may be a touch underwhelming, but an absolutely bananas final boss fight more than makes up for it in my opinion.

Donkey Kong Bonanza delivers everything you’d ever want from a DK game and then some. The levels are creative, colorful, and full of that classic Donkey Kong charm. Every stage feels alive, and the mix of platforming, puzzles, and secrets keeps you hooked from start to finish.
The controls feel smooth, the music is catchy, and the overall vibe is pure fun. Whether you’re a longtime Donkey Kong fan or brand new to the series, Bonanza hits that perfect balance between nostalgia and fresh gameplay.
I had a smile on my face the entire time playing. If you want a game that’s full of energy, personality, and great design, Donkey Kong Bonanza is a must-play. Highly recommended!

So much to do and destroy. It took me 45 minutes to get out of the tutorial because I was testing all the capabilities and moves.
The game looks great and plays great. The music is awesome. And I truly enjoy all the puzzles and item collecting. That being said, the game is a little too easy but that also makes it more fun.

My son absolutely loved Donkey Kong Bonanza. From the moment he started playing, he was completely hooked. The game is colorful, exciting, and full of fun challenges that kept him entertained for hours.
What stood out most was how engaging the gameplay is. The levels are creative and varied, and the difficulty feels balanced — challenging enough to keep things interesting, but not so hard that it becomes frustrating. He especially enjoyed the classic Donkey Kong-style action combined with new surprises throughout the game.
The graphics are bright and lively, and the music adds so much energy to the experience. It really captures the fun spirit you’d expect from a Donkey Kong game. I also appreciated that it felt family-friendly and appropriate, while still being exciting and rewarding.
Overall, Donkey Kong Bonanza has been a huge hit in our house. Seeing how much joy it brought my son makes it an easy recommendation for other families looking for a fun, engaging game.

Donkey Kong is back, baby! This is like a wif of fresh monkey breath! Solid game. Runs great. Looks great! finally after years since the well outdated donkey Kong 64 we have a all new 3D Donkey Kong using modern technology and gain playing mechanics, you would expect of a modern AAA title! It’s familiar enough that it fits in with other quality platforming titles, but has enough unique elements to make it something special. There’s definitely still some room for improvement in adding new gameplay mechanics in future releases, but there’s a lot to offer here and it’s a great game that you’ll have a lot of fun with. The ability to choose different pads to complete the level allows for those who want to master completing the level as fast as possible with a challenge, while allowing those that are just there to have fun and take their time to still have things to do, and have lots of fun!

Donkey Bananza feels like stepping into a giant toy box where every corner invites you to experiment, explore, and cause a little harmless chaos. The worlds are vibrant and packed with secrets, and the core gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying. Smashing, bouncing, and platforming through each area never really gets old, and the sense of freedom makes it feel like a playground you don’t want to leave.
What really stands out is how approachable and joyful the experience is. Whether you’re casually exploring or hunting for collectibles, the controls are responsive and the level design encourages creativity rather than punishing mistakes. It’s the kind of game you can pick up for a quick session and accidentally play for hours.
The only downside shows up in the endgame. Once you start going for 100% completion, the objectives become noticeably repetitive. Collectible cleanup and late-game challenges start to blur together, which can make the final stretch feel more like a checklist than an adventure.
Even with that, the overall experience is delightful. If you enjoy colorful platformers and open-ended levels that feel like one big playground, this game delivers a ton of fun. Just be prepared for some repetition if you’re aiming to complete absolutely everything.

This is a great 3D platformer and is similar in many ways to Mario Odyssey. If you aren’t usually a fan of Donkey Kong I would still give this a try, it is a great time with a lot of fun to be had. You have transformations with added abilities and power ups, the ability to destroy most of the environment and a lot of the usual abilities in other Donkey Kong games.

Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the most creative and fun 3D platformers in years. Smashing through anything in the environment never gets old, and every level adds something new and exciting to see or do. There's tons of Nintendo charm, packed with secrets and clever design, plus the co-op mode with Pauline is a blast. It’s not the hardest game ever, but exploring, collecting, and using crazy transformations keeps it super entertaining from start to finish. If you want a platformer that shows off what the Switch 2 can do, Donkey Kong Bananza is a must-own.

At last showing a bit more love for our iconic banana loving mascot and finally getting a new game under his belt.
If you played Mario Odyssey then you'll definitely feel a connection between these two games but overall still a great semi-open world with major diversity of levels and characters to enjoy.
If there's any real complaint it would be the camera as there's still some major issues at times with its functionality especially if you're going underground on a level you're playing as you can quickly become disoriented.
Still while pricey it's definitely a great game to have for any Switch 2 owner and one many Switch 2 owners wouldn't mind underneath the Christmas tree this year.

There is a lot of fun to be had with "DK Bananza". For those sensitive to dizziness, you can turn down the sensitivity and completely turn off the camera vibration. You can also turn off the motion controls if those bother you, but they didn't bother me so I left them on. As for the gameplay, there are some very easy areas in this game and some very hard, but rewarding sections. There is a lot of incentive to search for more collectibles as they allow you to max out your skill tree. The music is very catchy! If you have a Switch 2, this is a must buy.

How can you not love classic Nintendo characters? This game is pure fun and feels like a must-buy if you’re a fan of Donkey Kong. The gameplay is enjoyable, runs smoothly, and has that classic Nintendo charm that never gets old. Definitely worth picking up.

Donkey Kong: Banana-nza is just flat-out fun. The levels are colorful, the controls feel smooth, and the music is ridiculously catchy. I found myself smiling the whole time. Some bosses are a bit repetitive and a few levels get frustratingly tough, but it never stopped me from wanting to keep playing. There’s so much charm packed into every stage, and plenty of secrets to go back and find. Honestly, it’s one of the best Donkey Kong games I’ve played in years. If you love platformers, this one’s absolutely worth it.
