Nintendo does it again with a great iteration of Donkey Kong Country. WiiU continues to have great Nintendo games with this nostalgic and fresh title. Donkey Kong and friends find themselves in a wintery overtaking by a new enemy. The islands tropical themes are mixed with arctic themes and enemies to make an interesting adventure and challenging obstacles. If you are a fan of SNES Donkey Kong Country, there is no way you shouldn't play this game. The soundtrack contains old school tunes with a little remix. The load times are a little annoying and tend to lag. Hopefully that can be improved.

Donkey Kong has long been one of the Nintendo's prettiest, but most challenging franchises. Don't let the looks fool you, this isn't a game for beginners. Younger children will be frustrated while seasoned players will be challenged.

Loved the old DKC games and this lives up to them with updated graphics and all the same old fun with tight controls. Was a bit more challenging than I remember the old ones being, though.

I remember first playing the original Donkey Kong Country on the SNES as a little girl. I also remember that old CRT television I used to play it on. It was my favorite video game and I could not remember my childhood without it. Jump 20+ years into the future and I'm now playing the new game with the same name on the Wii U in HD! I look forward to sharing this experience with my daughter once she's old enough to play and create new memories with her.

I love Donkey Kong, and this latest installment is no exception. It's hard, and the difficulty ramps up per zone to the point where you're riding mine carts through tornadoes and trying to outswim giant octopuses. But it never feels cheap - controls are tight. Graphics are INCREDIBLE. You can see Donkey Kong's individual hairs on his body. The load times are a bit excessive, but do not let this stop you -- if you own a Wii U, this is a must have title.

If you liked the latest DK Country for Wii then you will love this one! It has a similar format, but with a new twist, new enemies, and new challenges! Great game to play with the family. My wife and son love watching and playing along. However, this game can be a challenge even for experienced gamers if you try to beat each level perfectly. The hard core completionist and the fun loving family man sides of me are both loving this game. 5/5 stars!

Retro has always made fantastic games for Nintendo, nailing three Metroid games down before moving to Donkey Kong Country Returns. Tropical Freeze is the next logical step in their journey, and they absolutely knock it out of the park with this one.
Even without the inclusion of two new sidekicks, the game itself is designed so beautifully I would have scarcely cared if it was just Donkey Kong and Diddy again. As it stands, Dixie and Cranky Kong just aid in the mechanics of the game, and give it a little more character.
The game shines in its challenging difficult, tasking gamers to not only reach the end of the levels, but to collect KONG letters and puzzle pieces on their way there. These unlock the uber-hard temple levels and final world as a bonus. Of course, the main levels are all unique and cleverly put together, including the cinematic boss fights.
Tropical Freeze also has stunningly beautiful music, which may be some of the catchiest of this generation of games.

This game is Donkey Kong. You know what to expect right off the bat. There are some novel innovations upon the previous iterations in the franchise, but nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking. Great fun. Co-op is not that great if one player is exceptionally better than the other as this game is all about the "flow" if you catch the drift so the player of less caliber would probably get tired of it quickly.

I love the challenge that this game brings. The return to form for the Donkey Kong Country games has been really excellent. They showed us what they could do with DKC Returns and have really knocked it out the park with Tropical Freeze.
The secondary characters (Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky Kong) all offer a nice amount of variety to shake up the gameplay, but IMO Dixie is clearly the most useful, but your opinion may vary.
The attention to detail is phenomenal, and the visuals are outstanding. Anyone who questions what the Wii U can do graphically has to look no further than this game.
The musical score is amazing. It's not usual that the music and sounds are one of the stand-out features of a game any more, but in this case they most definitely are. Bringing back the composer who did the original games was a master-stroke.
I highly recommend this game for anyone and everyone who owns a Wii U, and those who don't need to get one.

Even though I have not played a whole lot of it, its a surprise hit for me. It came with my Black Friday bundle. I was more interested in the free Super Smash Bros that came in the bundle but a free 1st party game from Nintendo rarely disappoints and this does not. Can't say too much about it since my time has been spent mostly between MK 8, Smash Bros, and my PS3 but if you love old school platformers with new graphics you'll love this one.

I grew up playing the original Donkey Kong Country games on the Super NES. While not as challenging as the original series, this game is still challenging. Certainly more challenging than other Wii U counterparts, like New Super Mario Bros U and Super Mario 3D World.
The multiplayer is fun, but it does add a layer of difficulty to the game. Plus, when you and your partner die, you lose two lives, not just one. Also, some sections of the game are about timing, and having to deal with two people trying to do this makes it difficult. However, there is a mechanic that allows player 2 to ride on Donkey Kong's back, so temporarily making it 1 player. This makes it easier to get through those tough sections.
The graphics are beautiful in this game! This, along with Super Mario 3D World, are the best looking Nintendo games I've ever seen. This is definitely worth picking up!

This game brought back memories of the old DK country for the SNES. I love it, it is so much fun. I play it while my chinichilla sits on my lap; he seems to like watching the game too! It is very challenging to find all the puzzle pieces and all the secret levels. The graphics and art design are very cool. This is a must have for your wii u collection.

This game... difficult but such accomplishment when you beat a world. One of the most beautiful games on the WiiU. Controls were the one thing I had trouble with, but after a few tries you get the hang of it. You finally get to play with Cranky Kong! And it's everything a Nintendo fan would hope for. The Kongs became kings of the sides roller after this game.

I'm a huge fan of the Donkey Kong series, so I'm a little biased, but this is a great, beautiful looking game on the WiiU. If you're s fan of previous games in the series, tio will love this game. It's challenging but easy to learn.

Great game. Excellent sound track and graphics. Mostly good level design. Some control issues and moderately repetitive elements in the game play. Multiplayer feels like it was an afterthought and 90% of the game is much more difficult/pointless to play with 2 players, with the exception of boss fights.
