This is an excellent platformer for the Wii U. The graphics look beautiful and during actual gameplay, there are never any frame rate issues (there's a few little freezes during loading screens, but come on, they're loading screens). The story is fun and simple, but the greatest thing is the variety of level design, making sure to give you a different experience with each level you visit. I said to myself many times during the game, "this is the best platformer level I have ever played." I even went back to play some levels over again because I enjoyed them that much. There are several hours of entertainment built in to this game, with challenging levels and secret passages that can open new levels, the game is worth picking up.

Fun game. A bit more difficult than I expected. Load times are lengthy that's why I gave it 4 stars.

Excellent platformer from Nintendo's glory days with an expanded roster of characters and moves. The gameplay can get challenging, especially for beginners. Though death comes frequently, it never feels cheap or unfair. Definitely recommend if you actually own a Wii U, because what else are you going to buy?

At a glance what looks like a childish platformer is really a deep and difficult game that forces the player to master its controls to traverse its beautifully detailed environments. Unlike other platformers, such as the recent Rayman releases, which rely on memorization and reactions; Donkey Kong instead relies on slow methodical gameplay requiring the player to make clear and concise jumps to progress through the game. There are quick cart levels that will get the heart pumping scattered through out the game providing a nice change of pace that keeps this game feeling fresh with each new environment. Luckily this game avoids the bane that plagues other platformers with precise controls that make what could easily be a frustrating game into a truly enjoyable experience. This game has obviously maintained the polish characterized by Nintendo and if you enjoy 2d platformers you could do a lot worse than dk. I find the best controls for this game is the Wii mote combined with the nunchuck.

Got this for my daughter for a Christmas present. Played it with her and we could not put it down all day. Brought back memories of when Cong first came out. The graphics and game schemes are superb. New characters are fantastic. If you loved Donkey Kong from yesteryear you will love this new game.

Most fun I have had on the Wii U, love the multiplayer aspect though sometimes much easier to play as single player, only thing is it didn't feel like a long game, but the levels are tough and a challenge but are very satisfying when you beat them. Number 1 game on the Wii U in my opinion.

Graphics are great and enjoy all the levels. Can't wait to see what other games are available

Donkey Kong tropical freeze is a fantastic 2D platformer. The level design, graphics, soundtrack, and characters are amazing. Never gets boring and brings new elements jnto the series.

I am a huge fan of this game. I have been playing it for a few weeks now and it has yet to get to get boring with new enemies and challenges as you progress. My girlfriend, who doesn't play video games very often, has become very addicted to this game and at the same time I've found it more than fun enough to keep me engaged. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends with a Wii U.

My son received this game for Christmas and has had so much fun playing it. However I think I as his mother have had even more fun with it. It is so similar to the Super Nintendo Donkey Kong that it brings back my childhood memories. We have had a great time playing with together.

Enjoyable experience with some great controls and original levels from prior DK games

If you remotely enjoyed the last side-scrolling Donkey Kong game on the Wii, you'll love this addition to the DK saga. New mechanics, new character dynamics, and ever-challenging stages help to keep the tried-and-true platforming genre alive and well in Tropical Freeze.

I was lucky to purchase this when BB had a good sale on Nintendo games around Christmas. This is such a fun game for kids of all ages. lots of climbing & jumping. Good graphics. The best Donkey Kong game to date! Good Wii U game to add to your collection.

Great game for both kids and parents alike! Great graphics and game play! Just like any of the new games now it takes a few minutes to update the wii u to play it, so my have to preoccupied any little ones while it updated! afterwords we had a great game night!

When my son (now mid twenties) got his first Donkey Kong game they played it for hours on end and it was one of the favorites. I purchased this new game for my young nephew (now 8) and he loves it too. This is certainly a character that spans the generations.

I love playing side scrolling games that remind me of the classics. This is basically a modern version of older Donkey Kong games. It's not too hard and very fun to play. I've heard it gets really hard and frustrating but I have yet to reach that point.

Looks great and very challenging. Nintendo has done a great job creating an attractive side scroller reminiscent of the difficulty level found in traditional nes games. True to the Donkey Country series, every level brings a unique experience and challenge that will often take countless lives (or red balloons) to overcome. The mine cart levels are especially fun and intuitive. This game is for experienced gamers and children may have difficulty completing levels after the 3rd island. Bosses can be insanely tough without the use of pre stage power ups items.

From the game play to the graphics, this game has it all and over all lots of fun. If you played any of the Classic DKC games on the SNES you will be in awe over the way this game bring back so many great memories. A must own for any Wii U owner.

Awesome graphics! Little challenging for my 8 & 9 yr olds to play by themselves but still fun to play together. Only downside is when you play in multiplayer, you can't use the pad as the screen for that controller, my girls like doing this.

I have been out of touch with this game series since the snes version. I have play the first 10 levels so far and have enjoyed it. This makes me wonder what I have been missing all of these years. I would highly recommend this platformer.
