Playing this reminds me of the old DK Country games on SNES but with the difficulty ramped up. I bought this as a fun co-op game for my girlfriend & I but it ended up being a single player game for just me since it was too difficult for her. There are plenty of places that I keep getting stuck on as well, but definitely a fun game!

I bought this game for my husband and I don't play video games much myself, but this is a great game that has been enjoyed by both my husband and myself. Definitely a great purchase for my husband and I to spend time together.

There are only a handful of top notch WiiU games and this should be part of the collection. Great content, fantastic art style and excellent Nintendo graphics and sound. The game always freel fresh, replayability is king.

Great graphics, extremely challenging plat former. Multiple characters with specific skills. If you liked any of the previous Donkey Kong games since the SNES you will love this one. It's a must have for a WIi U collection.

Excellent game with amazing visuals and even better music. Just the right amount of difficulty. I only wish that classic characters, like King K Rool and the animal friends, made a return. Otherwise, get this game!

A sequel to the well received Donkey Kong Country returns, Tropical Freeze takes what worked in the first game and polishes it to an insane degree, adding in new gameplay mechanics and characters. Featuring the same intense gameplay the series is known for, and with some of the best graphics seen on the console to date, it also features a fantastic soundtrack by series veteran D. Wise. It's a no brainer, if you own a Wii U, you must own this game. And if you don't own a Wii U, then buy a Wii U and then buy this game!

This is an amazing game and I can't wait to keep playing it! What an awesome game! I'm glad I got it in best buy too because they beat the price special amazon had. (Did not have to wait. Went straight to the store)!

One of the best platformers on the Wii U, bar none. Bit of a learning curve as there is a lot more difficulty to it than the Mario games, but once you get the hang of it the game is really fun. Awesome soundtrack too.

I love this game! They still kept some of the same themes from the old school super Nintendo one, but the graphics are way better and the sound effects are awesome. Everyone in my house (ages 6-35) plays this game!

Level design is charming, with more scale than you'd expect from a 2D platformer. The game becomes more challenging as it goes on, but still remains fun and feels beatable. I also love hunting for all the secrets!

I really enjoyed the graphics, and sound in this game. I haven't really played a Donkey Kong plat former myself since the original on SNES. The N64 one wasn't for me with all the collecting you had to do going back and back tracking. I'm happy to say there's no backtracking unless you want to here. The graphics are crystal clear and at times surprisingly detailed. The music is the top notch quality you expect from a Donkey Kong Country game as well. This game plays like a sequel to Donkey Kong country(SNES) with a lot more and creative boss battles thrown in.

This is one of my favorite games to play and it brings back so many memories from when I first started gaming. I love that all the secondary characters are in it and with more abilities. It's a great game.

This game is by far my favorite game on the Wii U next to Super Smash Bros. It is so beautiful with its graphics and story and the best part you can play 2 players story with many characters. So worth it.

I've really been enjoying this game. I'm having a little trouble when DK is in the water, but I get him out eventually. It's not too easy, which would be boring, and not so difficult as to be discouraging.

Games like this are the reason I own a Wii U. Game continues the platforming fun we've known from the DKC series from years past. HD graphics and beautiful levels are the icing on the cake. A must own .

If you're an adult who owns a Wii U, you probably bought the system because you love Nintendo games. And say what you will about the Wii U's sales performance, it already has some of the best Nintendo games ever; Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is one of them. The presentation is fabulous (especially the music by original series composer David Wise), the level designs are wildly varied, and the whole game puts a smile on my face even when I'm getting my butt kicked. Speaking of which, the mainstream reviewers are right about the challenge--sort of. If you grew up playing 2D platformers in the 8- and 16-bit eras and this is too hard for you, I'm honestly not sure what to tell you; I'm by no means a champion gamer and I like cinematic experiences as much of the next guy, but I'm 5/6 of the way through and I haven't seen a single Game Over screen. At the same time, however, it is kind of a drag that a game as adorable as this is also undoubtedly way too difficult for most younger kids to play (and for some reason Nintendo has removed the "Super Play" or whatever mode that let the game play through tough sections for you after dying a certain amount of times). So despite the cute, kid-friendly presentation, this game really seems to be aimed at the generation of aging gamers who grew up with the original DKC games on the Super Nintendo. But if you're one of those aging gamers and you love platformers, this game should be high on your priority list. In fact, if you love platformers and you don't have a Wii U, you should consider changing that situation, because what the system lacks in quantity of games it's more than making up in quality of platformers. Between this, New Super Mario Bros/Super Luigi U, and DuckTales (with Rayman Legends and Mario 3D World on my "to-buy" list) the Wii U is basically my platformer machine; and quite frankly, when the games are this good, I'm OK with that!

I once ate a banana and then turned into Donkey Kong. It was crazy cause I needed more and I couldn't find them. I bought this game and then everything was good. Ok seriously, awesome looking game.

I'm just going to start off by saying that this game is amazing. Everything from the music to the graphics is simply fantastic. Nintendo has done a excellent job making this game for the wii u. The gameplay might take some getting use to, if you are using the wii u gamepad but you can also use the wii remote too. The graphics are amazing, the colors are bright and vivid and donkey kong's hair even looks real. This is a wonderful game and it is well worth the $49 price tag.

Challenging and loads of fun. If you enjoy getting back to basics with 2d platforming, you can't really go wrong here. Not a ton of new ideas, but that doesn't detract from the experience.

I spent hours on this game and did not want to turn the Wii U off. If you're a Donkey Kong fan and own a Wii U, then this is a must have for your game library. Even after you finish the initial story line, there are so many secret stages to unlock after fulfilling certain conditions within certain levels. It can be frustrating at times because this game is challenging. It starts off easy but steadily progresses in difficulty. A worthwhile purchase in my opinion.
