Spectacular motion picture. Original characters. A “feel good movie“. Highly recommended!

OK, to be fair, you probably need to be a Downton Abbey fan already to really enjoy this movie. Since I am, I eagerly anticipated the release of this film, especially on DVD. Sure, you can watch the movie and probably enjoy it, but it helps to know the back stories that evolved during the run of the TV series. Even so, it is a lush glimpse of the closing days of traditional British aristocracy. The sets are awesome, the story line solid, and the return of most of the TV cast welcoming. I have already viewed it twice, and will be one I will pop into the player on cold winter's days or sweltering hot, humid summer days.

The long awaited Downton Abbey is a successful new continuing chapter in the long running series; yet, on its own, it stands successfully with an original new adventure for the family. Preparing for a visit from the King and Queen is exciting in itself, but comes with its problems, situations and impossible protocols, but furthermore, the turmoils within the family, old troubles, et al, all dilemmas come to a happy ending, where everyone benefits, new relationships continue, and that light at the end of the tunnel glows brightly. Bravo all! Downtown Abbey may not be perfect, but it entertains joyfully.

The original TV series had lots of charm, depicting a bygone time of English gentility. This movie evokes some of that charm, but also highlights the stratification of English society in the first few decades of the 20th century. The aristocracy give their servants, and the working class they come from, a purpose -- the working class serves the aristocracy. Whether the working class in that system benefits as much as does the aristocracy is a question this movie seems to raise, perhaps unintentionally.

Wonderful to see these characters back for another round of fancy dinners, stuffy rules, and quiet intrigue. The complication of a royal visit upends the entire household and gives the family and staff plenty of opportunities to rise to the occasion. Branson gets some particularly interesting moments, but nearly everyone has a chance to shine in this lovely follow up to a remarkable series.

If you like Downton Abbey, you will have bought this without any need for a review or recommendation. If you aren't charmed by the show, you may not understand why the movie is so good.

At first you wonder what they can do if you were dedicated to the series you have watched. As the story develops the characters and the movie becomes a great follow up to the series. I was impressed with how they dealt with the next challenges and kept all of the period time history in place. This is a movie we will watch more than once, I recommend owning this for your library.

I haven't watched this since it's a gift for someone else, but I've talked with those who have seen it and they loved it. It's a bit pricey for a regular Blu-ray (and not 4k), but it's very decorative and seems to have extras that a true fan would enjoy. Plus many "limited" movie sets wind up getting sold out and sold for even more so now seems as good as any to buy it.

My family loved Downton Abbey and used to binge watch all of the seasons together. We also really enjoyed this movie version! I bought this as a Christmas present for my grandmother who couldn't make it to the theater and Best Buy was the only place that would guarantee delivery before Christmas. In fact, I even got it a day early! I'm very pleased.

Saw this movie with my wife the day it was released in theaters. DOWNTON ABBEY fans cheered at the end. I’ve since watched the whole DOWNTON ABBEY series and I too am now a fan. This limited edition is a must have for any DOWNTON ABBEY fan. You should also get the entire DOWNTON ABBEY series, you won’t regret it.

The usual drama for both upstairs and downstairs, delivered with their trademark British dry wit. The original cast is back, along with some newcomers, in preparation for a visit by the Royals. Very entertaining scenes and beautiful visuals make this collector's edition a must-have for any Downton Abbey fan!

Well, I broke down and bought this in time to see the second film in theaters, and I wanted it in my collection. It was a good movie, but it lacked a LOT of the charm that the series held. I really do wish they just let the show rest. It was a good movie if you are a fan regardless, and I would recommend it, I have recommended it.

I was a fan of the series and the movie did not disappoint. It gave closure to some characters and definitely opened the door to more sequels. This version also came with nice extras such as a small recipe booklet and book of photos from the movie.

What a great follow up to the tv series! More than a sequel it continues a great story line with a new twist and progresses the characters’ lives into a new decade....very touching in many ways... great job and wonderful cinematograph scenes

This movie has everything we've come to love about the series. Great writing, great acting, and tremendous attention to detail when it comes to the sets and costumes. I especially love that they were able to keep most of the cast together.

I enjoy Downtown Abbey and it looks really good on blu-ray. I'm sure not for everyone but the fans will love it!

DVD is blu-ray and also digital download and completes my Downton Abbey collection. This movie is a continuation of the Crawley family for those who loved Downton Abbey on PBS. It also can stand on its own. The saga should live on.

This is really a great movie. We have the whole series, and saw the movie in the theater when it was released. The movie really follows with the series, original stars, locations, etc. Who couldn't enjoy watching the Crawleys?
