The Downton Abbey movie is a satisfying continuation of the story told in the PBS series. It’s a must-watch for fans of the series.

The return of your favorite family, and the staff who serves them, was fittingly large-scale for treatment on the big screen. Maggie Smith shines as the family matriarch, and receives the lion's s share of pithy remarks. Her admissions near the end of the movie brings a bittersweet tear ( I don't want to give anything away!) and leaves the prospect for a sequel wide open. Highly recommended - but all the richer for being familiar with the series before you watch the movie.

Purchased this for my wife as a Christmas gift. She is a big fan of the television series. I am sure she will enjoy the film.

Was really nice to have the canceled series extended to the "movies". Christmas gift that arrived as planned and expected.

Felt like they crammed a whole season of the show into one movie. Had great moments throughout and I enjoyed it overall.

This was a great movie. My wife and I loved the series on TV and when we saw the movie in theaters, we couldn't wait for this to come out on blu ray or dvd. We went and bought this on the release day and I saved this to give to my wife as a Christmas gift. The movie has a lot of great tie-ins with the show and it's nice how it recaps their lives as they've continued on and it keeps you involved in the show. You'll be hoping for another movie after seeing this one!

When I first heard of this movie coming out, I was afraid it was just going to be a compilation of the episodes to make a movie. That was not the case at all! They picked up the movie - with the ORIGINAL cast!!! - where the final episode of the series left off!!! It was, as expected. extremely well written! I love that we got an idea of what happened with the characters in the long run!

Just a wonderful next edition to the series which I loved. Saw this in the Cine Bistro theater twice and preordered this movie. I LOVED IT. The train scene always gets me ! Scenic view of Downton Abbey and the new and current cast members performing their characters to a T. the Dowager, the daughters and their husbands, Downstairs staff as great as ever, more views of great estates as only England can do: so so enjoyable . Costumes were outstanding .....Totally Awesome Movie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this as a present for my wife, we enjoy it very much the movie, a very good story. Even that I have not seen the series, I appreciated the good movie. The story is sometime after the series end and all the cast was available. This presentation (limited Edition) includes several things that was very nice to have. My wife is a fan of the series (she would love to go to the castle) and she and her family enjoyed very much the movie. Very well recommended as a good movie to enjoy.

This movie is everything I wanted it to be and more! There is intrigue, romance, a king and queen, Mary sniping at Edith, an assassination attempt Bob more from the dowager countess. Made me laugh, gasp and cry. Nothing too heavy or dark, overall uplifting and ends on a high note. If you enjoyed the series this is a must see movie. If you didn't watch the series you can still get something out of this movie but to get the full effect you should watch the series first.

WHAT A MOVIE HAVING SEEN MOST OF THE SERIES THEN WATCHING THE MOVIE WAS DEFINATELY A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE IT DEPICTED THE CHANGES IN UPPER CLASS ENGLISH SOCIETY IN THE LATE 20S OF THE 20 CENTURY SHOWING THE SEA OF CHANGE FROM GRANDOUR TO A STEP CLOSER TO MORE MODEST LIFE STYLES THE STORY LINE WAS VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER CULMINATING IN A VISIT BY THE KING TO DOWNTOWN & THE DRAMA SURROUNDING HIS VISIT

Good to watch on big screen,the story was okay!Look for more.

This movie is a great period piece. A truly lovely movie.

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present last year.She absolutely fell in live this show while it was on TV.She wasn't able to make it to the theaters while it was playing.Then she completely forgot about it coming to home media.She loved it.I didn't know what the big deal was with it.Meaning the tv series as well.But,once I watched it.It was actually really good.

Downtown Abbey is addictive. Viewers need to know the history of all of the major characters in order to fully enjoy this movie. As a fan of Downtown Abbey, I found this movie to be both entertaining and a satisfying wrap-up of the television series seasons 1-6. The costumes are Oscar worthy as are the settings. The bonus is the participation of the original cast. Bravo!

For fans of the series, this is a welcome extension to the franchise. There is great escapism with more adventures with the Crawley and the downstairs group. A nice change of pace from the tent pole releases although not for everyone especially those who did not watch the tv series. Nonetheless, the film is shot well with sweeping landscapes and great drama.

I purchased this as part of a Christmas gift for my mother along with the entire tv series. We just finished it after watching a little of the series together each weekend. We’ve seen the whole series as it aired on PBS & the movie at the theater opening weekend. Watching it again was wonderful as this series & movie is quality entertainment.
