It's so nice to be able to show the kids a remarkably boring British show on equally antiquated media. The good news is that my life is so boring that Downton Abbey is actually exciting. Watching this in DVD reminds me how rough we had it in the old days. Rock it like 1997! Get dressed. Leave the house. Crank up the old station wagon. Ride into town. Find a place to park. Walk into a store. Search the inventory. Lug the box set to the register. Wait in line behind the old lady trying to pay with a check. Pay with cash (or even better, pay with your own check.) Have your bag inspected at the door. Find where you parked. Fight traffic driving home. Crank up the old DVD player. Insert disc 1. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. When it has stopped spinning, press play. JUST LIKE YOUR GRANDPARENTS DID!! Rocking it old school... Enjoy! And while you're at it, set the clock on that DVD player that's been flashing 12:00 since Bush was in office. Or just skip all that rigamarole and download it right onto your feature phone. The beauty in having a choice!

The final season of this monster hit on Public Television does not disappoint in any way. The characters are still engaging, the situations unique and the performances top notch. This last bunch of episodes skillfully wraps up the myriad of plotlines. Some may look too pat and comfortable, but the audiences has grown so fond of the individual characters, that to have them face anything but 'happiky ever after' would seem unfair. Apparently, there is to be a movie version of the series, so all may not be finished for this elegant bunch.

Downton Abbey is a beautiful moving series by Masterpiece Theater. It sweeps you away from the first episode and it's hard to slow down from there. You'll end up binge watching the entire series in a matter of days, I'd bet. ;) The only problem with the series is... it's over!!! Buy it and you'll be glad you did. Came in simple but nice and safe cases for the discs and Best Buy's packaging for delivery was awesome and very speedy. Received the items ahead of the estimate deivery date even! No problems at all with my order.

This show is apparently the equivalent of visual crack. My wife and daughter love it. I don't understand why. It makes reading the newspaper seem like riding a rollercoaster. I tried sitting through one of my wife's benders on this show and I actually chuckled at one of the dry remarks and felt so dirty I had to go shower. Despite my feelings on it, it must be a good show, since my wife somehow got my daughter and mother-in-law hooked on it.

don't expect bombs and bullets here. Just great acting set in a time before most of us were born. The end of an era so to speak. yes it moves slow but it is supposed to. nice gradual character development and some brushes with the law. I am half way thru the last season and don't want it to end, it will be a sad day. I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire 6 seasons. really, really good show. get all six seasons.

It's hard to believe that DOWNTON ABBEY (the critically acclaimed BBC/PBS television series) is ending. Viewers have followed the joys and sorrows of the upper crust CRAWLEY family for six seasons and have seen the cultural and economic upheaval on British society in the early 20th century. Series creator JULIAN FELLOWES and actress MAGGIE SMITH can be proud of their contributions to this award winning series.

I saw an ad in the Sunday paper announcing that the DVD of the final season of Downton Abbey would be on sale on Tuesday. I went over to Best Buy and looked to see if it came out early. I asked at the desk and she said that it was coming out on Tuesday, but that I could order it and it would be delivered to me. I have enjoyed it very much and I have watched it several times. Love it!

I was so sorry to learn this would be the final season for Downton Abbey so I knew this was a must-have purchase. It was out of stock at my local Best Buy, but they searched and located one for me close by. They offered to have it sent over to the local store, but the other store wasn't that far away so I picked it up. Great customer service as always at Best Buy!

One of the great tv series of all time with season 6 being the final installment. A super soap opera for sure but with class. Great cast, direction, writing & production. Gives American's an insight & a peek into a life we can barley imagine. Each episode allows the viewer to see life from both sides of the household (upper class & lower class). Highly recommended to all.

This is a must have for those who have followed the previous seasons. It is an excellent period piece. The sets and costumes were a big part of the experience. Highclere castle was indeed a character in it's own right. This season brings everything to a close in a most delightful way. I will miss you Downton. Along with all the upstairs and downstairs folk.

I will miss this show very much. The DVD didn't disappoint. They went out on a positive note & I feel they could actually come back and continue this series because there is still so much more about these characters that I'm sure we would all still be interested in seeing. I hope they think about that possiblilty.

This is a great series that a person can watch and feel good about it. There is no violence or questionable behavior, not even by today's standards. It could be a great way for a family to watch something that doesn't require "beeps". It is a masterpiece of work. This is the final season, what a shame!!!

Perfect ending to the six year series. Downton Abbey storyline runs from 1912 to 1912. It would have impossible to go further into the Great Depression and age the actors. Thus the grand finale! In a summer of Downton Abbey deprivation a few years back, we tried Upstairs, Downstairs. -- not even close!

Downtown Abbey was a mini series worth watching. The history you learned along with the clothing styles and ways of live of the very wealthy were interesting as well as the story lines. I was sad to see it end. I think the way they closed it out was perfect, loving and touching.

Glad to have entire collection to watch from time to time. One of the best series on PBS that I've watched in a long time and really enjoyed series. It will be nice to see if the writers will produce a movie to tell more of the Crawley family and maybe tie up the whole story.

Loved this last season of Downton Abbey. Sad no more will be coming out. The DVD is beautifully presented, the visual onscreen quality is superb and the sound is crisp. The DVD contains a couple of interesting added features as an extra bonus. The price was excellent.

Downton Abbey season 6 is the perfect send-off for the series. As time has passed we have seen the effects of a modern world on a class system that at times is unable to adjust to events. What a wonderful way to wrap up the story we have all been in love with...

Very glad to be able to purchase the DVD prior to the episodes airing. Wife and I couldn't help but watch the entire final season when we picked it up on the release date. The 6th season provides many conclusions to plots throughout the rest of the series.

Great acting. Interesting historical backdrop. New subject material not covered in other shows. I'm glad that we waited until all 6 seasons were complete before we started watching. Just couldn't wait to watch the next show. The whole family enjoyed it.

Excellent story line. Really enjoy all the characters, the period costumes, and the changes that happened over time in the story. Sad when the story ended because we always looked forward so much to the next part of the story. Fabulous series.
