The Best Dracula Story I've Seen Thus Far

I absolutely loved this movie when I saw it in the theater and once I saw that it was on Bluray, I knew I had to add it to my collection. The Bluray, DVD, and packaging were all in pristine condition and the included digital copy was a nice bonus as I can watch the movie either on my home television or on iTunes on my laptop or iPhone. As for the movie itself. The storyline was awesome. This Dracula was actually portrayed with much more realness than most iterations of the character. Most movies just show Dracula attacking people with no basis as to why or even how he became what he is. This movie shows his struggle to fight for the safety of his people and how he became Dracula as a result of that desire to protect his kingdom. It shows a very human side to "the monster" that is Dracula. The special effects and makeup were also awesome!

The Closest to the Historical Dracula Yet.

Dracula Untold leaves a person questioning everything that he/she knows about the most known vampire in history. The original host vampire's origin is vaguely described, but his inevitable encounter with the Prince of Wallachia is vivid. Hence the Prince's conversion in the viewer's perspective is tragic. The Prince agrees to assume any and all sacrifices with the purpose of protecting his people from the invading turkish hordes. Immediately after his transformation, his own people austricize him and try to burn a barn around him. Rather than turn his anger on his own people, he attacks the 1,000+ turkish troops and eventually disposes of all of them. The closing scene flashes several centuries in the future, and he is seen being followed by the orignal vampire that turned him initially.

Straight simple plot yet good enough to keep interest. There's definitely going to be another part of this movie but we'll see. Vampire In Brooklyn never had another possible anticipated movie so anything is possible of another Dracula Untold. The war scenes were simple yet realistic. The wife/queen in the movie is lovely looking. I thought it was cool how he came to be Dracula. I'd say more but don't want to ruin the movie. Again, it was a simple plot but the storyline all made sense and the graphics, actors/actresses, and fight scenes made it all the better. Hope this review helps. PS: Also, I felt I paid too much for this movie being $9.99 plus taxes the time I made the purchase (Sept. 2K16). But whatever that's ny opinion . . . Enjoy!

I honestly expected this take to be quite good as well as interesting, but found that it lacked details in areas that required further information. Maybe an explained origin for vampires in this world would have sat better with me than him just becoming "Dracula". Yes there is a reason as to why become Dracula but not why vampires nor where vampires come from. Instead you going into this knowing that it is Dracula and he is a vampire (which you do need to know that getting into this film and except that) but not really a why with details. I know it's Dracula and love that, but I found its runtime and reasoning to be lacking. If you are just wanting a twist to the Dracula tale then it's very enjoyable.

Not a complete home run, but a fresh take on the Dracula legend; A for effort, some great battle period piece elements here and Evans is a treat in this role.

The Blu-ray edition is a good copy with excellent video and audio, close to but not reference quality. Found a good price, otherwise would have waited to get is on sell later. The story is an interesting retelling of the classic story, but falls short in a couple of places. This is more of an action film instead of horror. If you like action/horror or specifically Dracula films, it is good for the library. Otherwise, rent it instead.

How far will Transylvanian royal Vlad Tepes go?

When 15th -century Turkish ruler Sultan Mehmed II demands 1,000 boys from Transylvania, including Vlad's son, be turned over to him to serve in his army, Tepes strikes a deal with the demonic Caligula that provides him sufficient strength to defeat the Sultan, but the catch-22 is that it also transforms him into a bloodthirsty vampire! Great cast includes Luke Evans as Vlad [aka 'Dracula'], Dominic Cooper as Mehmed, Charles Dance ["Game of Thrones" baddie], Art Parkinson as Vlad's young son,and Sarah Gadon. Stylish retelling of the classic vamp legend! ***+

A new variant on an old tale, and fun if you're not expecting something as glossy as Coppolla's version. It has some interesting FX, great cinematography, good acting, and a fast paced storyline. Those seeking a typical, less historical show will be underwhelmed, but taken in the right vein (yep, pun intended) this Drac isn't nearly as dismal as the box office implied. Worth a look, for sure.

If you were hoping for a regurgitation of Bram Stoker, you may be disappointed. However, if you love the folklore and genre of vampire stories, then hold onto your seats because you are in for an awesome ride! The telling of Vladimir the Impailer goes back to his childhood and weaves through his life as a soldier, family man, and prince who chooses to sacrafice himself to become a vampire to save all he holds dear. This version of Dracula is definately a keeper!!

This is a remake/origin story of Dracula starring Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans, and Sarah Gadon. Its a pretty fast paced movie with good action and special effects. This version comes with a Blu-Ray, DVD, and an HD Digital Copy that can be redeemed through CinemaNow, Vudu, Flixster and others. This was a fun movie, probably considered a popcorn movie, with a high replay value in my opinion. I got it on price match for under $10 so I consider it a steal.

This was a new take on Dracula. There are some historical facts plus the "Hollywood" versions as well. Movie was fun to watch; great characters like Luke Evans & Charles Dance made it much more interesting. Good action, romance and well shot effects.I hope there is a sequel. A different version from the usual Dracula movies. Lots of potential for sequels as I said before. Special Features have lots of spoilers; DO NOT watch until after you watch the movie!!
