if you have ever wondered what how dracula came to be the monster we all know? before the folklore where he would kill and try to take over others' land to spread his vampire seed, this movie takes the folklore to how it originally started 400 years earlier when the turks almost took over europe. geniously blending true history and the myth of dracula, this tale of historical fiction, is amazingly not to be missed. dracula is the good guy.

ever since this movie came out i was waiting for it to go down in price since i had really low expectations i didn't want to pay full price in case i didn't like it. well it turned to be a good solid film, enjoyable to me, nothing over the top i think, an ok story with ok visuals and ok acting, a recommendation for what i call a sunday movie. overall good. i think most people will enjoy it if they have low expectations, i liked it

Frankly, I didn't expect much when I went to see this movie. I love the classic Dracula movies (especially Bram Stoker's Dracula) and just joined a couple of friend's who wanted to see it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the story and high production value of this version of the often told Dracula story. No big stars, only good solid acting and a captivating storyline. If you love Dracula movies, make sure to add this one to your collection!! I did.

Dracula Untold takes a new twist on the Origin of the vampire, making him a family man who sacrifices all to save his people and family from invading Turks who had kidnapped him as a child to serve in their armies. It still follows the story being one of loss of everything for Dracula, and left the storyline open for another movie. While not a gore-fest, it has good special effects and acting - worth giving a view to.

This movie was different from the (old) original Dracula movies. It had substance (i.e., not just bitting, blazing red eyes, blood dripping & then Dracula gets stakes), this Dracula cared about his family, people and had pride & honor. It was not what I expected. I really liked the special effects, Dracula transformation is the bomb!! I also like how the movie ended, which could be just the beginning...watch...you'll see.

I'd heard good things and bad things about this movie when it arrived in theaters ... enough that I didn't want to spend $13 on a ticket. But, now that the Blue Ray is available I figured I'd give it a go. While there are some points in the film where the script didn't quite pull it all together ... I thought the cinematography and and digital work were all exceptional. They left a lot of pieces open for a sequel and I would enjoy that as well.

I don't recall to have ever read nor heard of Dracula as being a former benevolent and peace-loving king. However, this film will endear you to the monster he had to become in the only hope, as he saw it, to save his family and his realm. The scenery is well chosen for all sequels, it seems to be another character in the film. The action fits the story line. A great way to spend a couple of hours. And who knows? There may yet be a sequel!

This movie was way under rated while in theater.. That's why I say you can't always go by reviews, even though I'm reviewing it right now lol Any fan of Horror, Vampires, and not just a popcorn flick.... this movie has more depth than a lot of horror movies out there!!! Enjoy.. Love it!!

This movie surprise me.. I have always been a horror fan especially vampire movie... I didn't think anyone could ever top Chrustopher Lee as Dracula...until Gary Oldman in Bram Stocker's Dracula...In this movie as well in the former, you get an insight on how this man beliefs and loyalties and love change him. This movie give a more insightful view of the legend that is Dracula and make you see him as a man, husband and father..

It moved fast, never dragged, and I was riveted to the screen for every minute. It mostly had to do with Luke Evans. I wasn’t familiar with him at all and when I watched the trailer I wasn’t particularly taken with his looks, but he is mesmerizing on screen as Dracula. He has an intelligence about him, with lots going on behind those dark eyes. He perfectly conveyed suffering, tenderness and, yes, a monstrous dark side.

One of the best vampire movies I have seen. A more human story about love and sacrifice. Enjoyed it and wished it was a little longer or had a sequel. They left it at the start of the usual vampire movie. Good special effects and a lot of action. Not very scary but interesting story line.

I've seen many Dracula movies through the years and enjoy when there's a new "take" on the story or addition. While not perfect, was a good story with great atmosphere and special effect. Seemed to me that a 3D version would have been better as I seem to remember this being presented in 3D in the theaters and some scenes seemed to be made for it. Overall recommended.

This is a prequel to the classic horror story that Bram Stoker brought to life. Highlighting Vlad the Impaler's reputation as a merciless warrior, it also portrays him as a family man looking for peace but when his hand is forced in a situation he doesn't want, he looks to the darkness for the power to move through it. Special effects are well done and the acting is good.

I love a good vampire movie (particularly one that doesn't feature sparkly vampires), and this one offered a unique, exciting portrayal of the most famous vampire of all time. Dracula is a well-conceived great character that is easy to both like and fear when necessary. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed the story line on this movie. Vlad Dracul was not known as anything but a monster in history, an extremely brutal warrior. The explanation in the story was a little far fetched, but believable. It is good visually, and has impressive special effects. It also has a good story line. It's a little dark for my taste, but good.

This is a familar character. Dracula has appeared in so many movies, a new film was inevitable but was such a refreshing take. The possible start to a brand new horror film cycle from Universal has me excited

The sound-track has an ominous, harsh side to it, and there’s a lots of dramatic action and spirited action set in a very imaginative Transylvania countryside of Romania in Southeastern Europe. In the end the games come full circle and continue today. The story-line is an interesting twist to the usual Dracula tale – it holds your attention and is entertaining

this is a good addition to any collection-for all to have!!!!

This is a good Dracula movie that is close to the old legend. Some things I didn't agree with such as when the just recently turned vamps get killed and they turn to dust. This only happens usually if the vamp is very old and would have been decayed like that since they were dead for a long time. Overall it is an entertaining movie well worth the purchase if not atleast watching.
