I recommend this 5 DVD set both for those who enjoyed the original TV airing (such as myself) as well as younger viewers. I enjoyed seeing character actors who later became well-known on TV and in the movies. The younger generation will enjoy seeing actual LA police cases being recreated and resolved in each episode.

The Dragnet collection is great not only because of the acting, but because all scenes were based on true life moments.

This is a great old police drama comparable to other Los Angeles police dramas I enjoy, i.e. The Closer

If you like when the good guys win, you'll like this show. Friday is a bit wooden, but a good guy. The sidekick is there to allow inner thoughts to be expressed, very common at the time.
