This is charming and it’s a fun building game and has a great story. If you love dragon quest and Minecraft you’ll love this game.

A fantastic follow-up to the original Dragon Quest Builders that improves on the original in almost every way. One of the big complaints with the first game was that you had to start building from scratch after you completed each chapter. DQB2 addresses this by having a main hub world where you are free to build between main story chapters and whose progression is tied into the game. Everything else remains just as good, if not better than the original. The only real complaint I have is the performance on the Switch is only so-so compared to other platforms. In all the official content from the main game it performs mostly OK and typically hits 30 FPS, with the occasional dip. However, if you are looking to explore user made worlds with very complex architecture be prepared for some really bad frame-rates.

This is like Mindcraft and has an actual story. You can play with friends and take photos and share with friends. This is really fun.

I can sit and play this game for hours. I liked the first one but this one is better. Minecraft with a story line

A builder game that I got into better than Minecraft. Lots of dialogue though which does get annoying

It's like MineCraft with a story. The gameplay is improved from the first one and the graphics still look just as good. Good game for kids or adults who enjoy building things. Fun game overall.

I have never played the DQ Builders prequel or Minecraft, but I must say this is probably more my speed! I am 60 hours in and addicted! The characters are fun and well-written. The gameplay loop of exploring-to-build and building-to-explore is highly rewarding. A must-play for fans of Animal Crossing, Zelda and of course the titular RPG series. Also the physical game has a **reversible cover**!!!! ^_^

DQB2 is a great sequel that improves on every aspect of the original release. The new hub world is fantastic for the player and allows you to build to your hearts content and keep creating. The story and quests are fun. Collecting and managing resources is still fun. If you enjoyed the first game get this one. If you never played the first game this is a great starting point with lots of great new options and content.

Great like Minecraft feel to the game. A little better because there’s a story.

Has a somewhat heavy dialogue driven story, typical of old fashion RPG's, but not overdone. Same great art style by Akira Toriyama, and a great game for both young and not so young. There is much to do and many improvements over the first in the series, and I do hope the series continues. I do highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone. You should not be disappointed.

If you played the first Dragon Quest Builders game and enjoyed it at all, then you definitely need to buy the sequel - its has everything that made the first game fun, plus tons more content, plus fixes a lot of flaws that the first game had (such as having to leave the areas you built up once they were 'done'. Its now possible to revisit previous lands, and in fact somewhat necessary for gathering materials.) If you haven't played the first Dragon Quest Builders game, then its probably best described as "Minecraft but with a story." The game is set in a world that's largely been destroyed by evil. You play a 'builder' - a person with the rare ability to create new things, while the rest of humanity scrounges in the ruins trying to avoid being killed by monsters. You travel to various lands, each of which has a ruined town that you must rebuild, inspiring the people to move into your town and eventually take back the world from the monsters. You're responsible for building them homes and defenses, and completing quests (which tend to unlock new things you can build or cause new people to move into your town.) The first Dragon Quest Builders game was good, but DQB2 improves on it in basically every way. I would consider it one of the best games on the Switch at this time, and would say everyone should at least give it a try.

The first Builders was fun with its blend of RPG and Minecraft style building, but didn’t feel quite the best in either of those aspects, it was great for being the combination. The sequel upgrades ever, its much easier to enjoy things purely for the building aspect, and it’s a far more enjoyable RPG, and still that magic combination of the two elevating it higher.

Dragon Quest Builders is not a game that one would expect from SquareEnix. A blend of RPG and Minecraft, it shouldn't work as well as it does. The 2nd chapter in this (hopefully long-running) series takes all the best elements of the first DQB, and iterates on the bad ones. Combat is still a chore, it is still vague at times, but a wonderful game nonetheless.

DQB2 is more of the same from the original but with less exploration and wandering aimlessly. Still have decent sized maps but doesn't feel as big as the first game.

I enjoy the building and story in this game. My only complaint so far is having basic recipes removed and needing to learn new ones when going to a new island.

An improvement over the 1st entry, this title is basically a Minecraft style game... mixed with a kind of Zelda action adventure motif... in the Dragon Quest world. It's easily accessible and quick to pick up. If you enjoyed the building aspect of Minecraft, but disliked the combat and wanted something a bit more there... this is the game for you!
