Recommend it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So glad that I decided to buy the game. One of my favorite JRPGs. Spent over 100 hours on it. Love the story, turn based combat and character designs. The beginning is a bit slow and there is quite a bit of texts. But I like watching cutscenes when I’m playing games so that’s not a problem for me. I would say give it a try if you into JRPGs and turn base games.

The classic series at its very best
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dragon Quest XI is a classically-styled RPG, with lots of turn-based combat, talking to NPCs, and easily offers 100+ hours of gameplay. If you're a fan of the old school design, then you'll have plenty to enjoy as you journey across Erdrea and facing its many perils. Definitive Edition offers a number of improvements over the original release, as well as a host of extras that will make it a worthwhile trip for newcomers and even veterans of the title. Combat is a very traditional affair, but extremely rewarding as you unlock skills and abilities for your party and master strategic use of their powers to decimate the monsters and many powerful bosses. There's even a 2D mode for the truly retro-loving crowd who want to experience the adventure as if they've been transported back to the days of SNES.

Great Start into the Dragon Quest Franchise
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never really played any of the Dragon Quest games, but I was aware of the series since the late 90's / early 00's. I decided to finally give the series a try, starting with Dragon Quest XI. Got to say, I am fairly surprised of how good, this game is. The battle system is old school, the music is great, and the world is very vibrant and colorful. If you haven't picked this game up yet and are a fan of JRPG's in general, definitely pick this game up.

DragonQuestFan
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a long time Dragon Quest fan and I enjoyed playing Dragon Quest XI the first time it was released in 2018 on PS4. Now this is the definitive edition of Dragon Quest XI and it includes extra side quests and the option to play an orchestrated soundtrack. There are many other game play improvement options as well. Definitely enjoying playing this game a second time around now with these added improvements.

One of the best
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve played this series since the beginning and this one is well worth the money. You will get at least 100 hours of play time and the storyline has twists that you won’t expect. It’s so fun to explore every nook and cranny of Erdrea, and the option to play this in old school 2D mode is awesome too. Just make sure you have the time to spend on this game because you’ll want to keep playing it once you get absorbed!

Worth Double-Dipping For All the New Content!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nintendo loves Dragon Quest, and wants it to be successful here in the United States. From the days of giving away the first NES game along with Nintendo Power subscriptions, Nintendo has published numerous Dragon Quest games on Enix/Square-Enix's behalf over the decades. Every once in a while, Square-Enix will publish Dragon Quest entries on their own; this is one such example on the PS4. (Note however that the same title was published by Nintendo on the Switch.) It updates the original PS4 release with orchestral sound, Japanese voiceovers, additional side-story content, 2-D mode, adjustable battle speed, and other quality of life options. All these adjustments along with the wonderful story and characters make it well worth double-dipping. One caveat is that the graphics have been downgraded compared to the original PS4 version of the game, but to me all of the other added content more than makes up for it.

One of the best RPGs ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played the original NES and SNES Dragon Warrior games so this new one is a tremendous leap in graphics, gameplay and music & that's a great plus. Immersive, emotional and fun. I could hardly put it down and played almost overnight several times.

So good I would’ve bought at full price
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed so much about the game it’s hard to go into detail about everything, but Dragon Quest XI made for a wonderful first-time 100+ hours experience. I played the game “vanilla”, essentially without the additional challenges offered before starting, and still found it challenging but fun enough for a beginner like myself. I loved being able to switch out between all party members while in battle, allowing a chance for each character to be used rather than get immediately benched, and I’ve since started a second playthrough with all challenges in play which makes playing through the game again feel different and refreshing but still enjoyable.

Return to a classic
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not quite expect this game to be so satisfying. The whole trope of saving the world from a dark lord can be old if it wasn't dragon quest. The world is fantastic and there's so much stuff to do and that's just in the base game. It just brought back what I loved about classic jrpgs

Loving the game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm enjoy the game, loving the world and characters. I had the base game of DQ XI and the new additions are enjoyable such as playing the game in 2D, giving you the classic Dragon Quest feel. The small gripe I have is that these updated games can be released as DLC.

Would recommend
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remastered game is freaking awesome! The graphics are insane when played on both current and next gen consoles. The gameplay is very addicting and the story is good. This game has way over 69 hours of gameplay and will be much more if you do everything

DQ11 definative edition review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Version of DQ11 is definitely the definative edition in my oppinion. Some may argue that the graphics are worse than the original DQ11 but the difference is so miniscule that it doesn't even matter. Most of the chages graphically are just lighting based and I honestly like what they did here better plus the game runs at 60 fps instead of the original 30 fps which is a massive upgrade. I can't stand when games are only 30fps and that's the only thing that kept me from beating the original DQ11 but now with the definitive edition in 60fps I'm definitive gonna enjoy this journey to it's fullest extent.

Fantastic Game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was the first Dragon Quest I played. I absolutely loved this journey. Playtime after all content was somewhere around 110 hours. The gameplay is reminiscent of classic final fantasy games, but more modernized. The voice cast is wonderful, and the story was well worth the time investment. Wish I could play through the game for the first time again.
