If you enjoyed the original theatrical trilogy and are on the fence about this edition... Worry no more. As fantastic as the original is, this is the definitive edition of this story.

I chose this movie after watching the English version, with Daniel Craig, and did some research on it. I am so glad I did, as it kept me on the edge of my seat and couldn't wait to get the next installment into the player. Must see trilogy.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy: Extended Edition is a must own for fans of the books. Noomi Rapace is fantastic as Lisbeth Salander.

Fantastic Triology

This outstanding series is in the original Swedish language and follows the excellent book trilogy. It is way better than the American version released a couple of years ago. The acting is fantastic as is the very well written storyline. The main character is a young female, who was wrongfully kept under governmental mental health institution and control for years.
The first movie, The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, has a very disturbing assault, so it is not suitable for most people to view. This scene however, is the main catalyst in the character’s development that continues throughout the series.
The strength of each book/ movie is the mystery solving that occurs. The other main character is a news reporter and his efforts to expose crime and conspiracies. His involvement and interactions keep the series flowing, from character to character, each trying to solve a mystery. The movies occur in Sweden, and the scenery is neat for non-Swedes to see. Reading the subtitles in English allows one to catch the full emotions of the actors.

Great adaption of the novels, but not characters

This Swedish adaption of the international best-selling trilogy is sufficient enough for Millennium fans. However, Noomi Rapace's representation of the titular character is not all it's cracked up to be.
Compared to Rooney Mara's Academy Award nominated performance (for which she would have won had it not been for Meryl Streep), Noomi's performance strays from the Salander in the books. In the novels, she fades into the background with much pleasure. In the Swedish adaption, she is a loud punk rocker with an attitude. Although Rapace's performance is admirable, it is no where near the Salander depicted in the books. Blomqvist's character is also not exactly as it is in the novels, unlike in Fincher's adaption, where he is played perfectly by Daniel Craig.
Still, it's nice seeing that a trilogy was created out of the novels, and at a whopping 9 hours, it's definitely a must watch for fans of the highly acclaimed series.

Great Treat for Fans of the Films (or Film Fans)

These are excellent films, and if you have something against subtitles, the English Dubs are quite impressive.
As for the content and packaging:
Each movie is on its own disc, and split between Part 1 and 2 for each movie. All 3 features are available with the original Swedish language (HD audio) with English subtitles or an English language version (Digital Audio). The fourth disc has the special features and runs about 2 hours.
