I'll admit, when I first seen this keyboard I was so attracted by the dark, mechanical features. this was the first thing I noticed. Honestly this is the first keyboard that I have owned of this kind and I am pleasantly surprised, Not really know what to expect, I thought this was a keyboard I could just talk into.. (Novice) I guess I was mores hoping I could but for the most part I love it. This is the first keyboard of its kind where you can switch out the tabs that I have had. I was wondering how I was going to get the tabs off without damaging it but I did find that it came equipped with a tab puller which was great. It also came with a usb. It has nice lighting but I have to admit, it is kind hard for me to see the keys. Although I am not fluent in Black speech, I love this as a piece to accent my computer. I am sure as I become fluent with black speech this is going to be an impeccable keyboard. This keyboard is well built, sturdy and sits very still on my desk. I aam sure that people will love this as it is a very attractive keyboard and very functional.

If you are a Lord of the Rings Fan then the DROP + The Lord of the Rings TKL Keyboard is an absolute must buy! The artwork is excellent down to the finest detail, the elvish font on each of the keys is an absolute excellent touch, and you also have the regular key functions printed on them as well so you know what you are doing. I love how the keyboard also comes with extra keys to make it very customizable to your own preference. The compact size makes this great for gaming, and the mechanical keys have an excellent feel and lightning fast response rate. I have used this keyboard for some FPS and MMO gaming and I have no been disappointed at all! The build quality is excellent on this and I am confident I will get many years of use out of it with no issues at all. This keyboard is also great for travel, as it is so compact. I have packed this up already for a game night at a friends house and not only was it easy to transport, but it was also a great conversation starter! If you like Lord of the Rings you are going to love this keyboard!

One Keyboard to Rule Them All

OK, let's be clear about one thing, you're getting this keyboard because you're a fan of Lord of the Rings who also happens to like a good mechanical keyboard. Since both apply to me, I had to pick this up. Basic design out of the way, this is a standard 3/4 inverted-T keyboard. This is also a WIRED keyboard. There's a USB-C port on the back of the keyboard and a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, so that means you can run the wire in a way that works best for you, and easily disconnect it if you want to swap it out for something, say, a little more work-oriented without dealing with a cable that's fastened to the keyboard itself. The Escape, Space, Enter, and Arrow Keys all have 2 varieties, there's the basic gray ones that come pre-installed. Then there's the cool red ones they use in the images. You can use the key swapper tool that comes with it to easily swap out the keys based on what you want. Since I wanted to have the bright, red, Mordor-flavored keys, I immediately swapped out the gray ones for the red ones. As far as typing and responsiveness, it's a nice gaming keyboard. I haven't seen any noticeable delay or issues. The keys have a satisfying, mechanical sound and feel that makes typing on it feel good. I'm not a mechanical keyboard enthusiast, so I'm not entirely sure, but the sound of the keys makes me think these are "brown" switches... but I could be wrong. The only real issues I had with the keyboard is actually one of the coolest aspects of it. The keys are labeled using Tolkien's elvish lettering. They do have the English letters in smaller sizes, on the bottom left of the keys, but it's still written with an elvish flair. That makes reading the keys remarkably challenging as they're not backlit. It's a cool design choice, but the UX takes a hit if you can't tell what you're typing. But again, let's be honest, you're getting this because you're a Lord of the Rings fan... and this is an awesome personal computing accessory for any fan... elf, orc, or human.

Excellent Gaming Keyboard That Looks Really Cool

Corsair has another gaming keyboard with the Drop Lord of The Rings Gaming Keyboard. The keyboard features a metal housing, replaceable keys, USB-C wired connection, and keys that have Lord of The Rings writing on them. It's also a mechanical keyboard. Typing with the keyboard feels good and is a pleasure. The size of the keyboard is standard minus num pad. This keeps the size small enough that I have plenty of room left on my desk for my mouse, microphone, and my other gaming controllers. It has some weight to it which helps with it staying in place while I'm playing games. Each key has the normal letter/number/symbol that you find on a standard keyboard and it has black speech written on the keys. The keyboard has a flat case, but the keys are angled. The angle gives me the impression of a curved keyboard even though the case isn't curved. The way they are angled helps with reach to them. In other words, it helps to reduce fatigue as it ends up being that I can more easily reach each key. At first this was a strange feeling typing on it, but within minutes I could see the benefit from this. I have become accustomed to it so now I have fewer instances of me mistyping a character. The center of each key is more recessed than what is found on a standard keyboard. This helps my finger tips to feel more secure on each key and reduces the chances of me missing the mark such as pressing two keys at once by accident. The use of this was a good design choice by Corsair. There isn't a raised dot on the f and j keys (home keys for index fingers), so Corsair made the top of those two keys more recessed than the other keys. This helps me to quickly find the two keys by feel so I know where to rest my other fingers for their respective home keys. Corsair also added a light inside of the case, but unfortunately, the light doesn't come through to light up the characters on each key. The light helps, but it would have made the keyboard look much better if the keys were backlit. I really like typing on this keyboard. The rows of keys feeling like they are on a curved keyboard ends up helping with lowering the reach to each key. The top of the keys being a little recessed helps to reduce the chance of a finger slipping while gaming. Corsair includes 7 red keys which I replaced with the original 7 keys that were already on the keyboard. I was able to pop off the original ones using the included key removal tool. This was easy to do and I like the look of the keyboard now that I have the red keys on it. I like the keyboard, but I would like to see Corsair make the keys backlit. It's the only thing I would like to see changed. It would also be good to see a version with a num pad offered. If you are looking for a gaming keyboard that is good for gaming, a pleasure to type on, looks really cool, and you don't need a num pad, then consider the DROP + The Lord of the Rings mechanical gaming keyboard.

Keys Have a Great Feel, Cool Looking Keyboard

This is a really cool keyboard! It has several features that I really like- The shape of the keycap's surface is an exaggerated concave with the front edges raised higher than the back that gives a secure solid feel to the fingertips, like you can't miss or slip off the key. The Holy Panda X tactile mechanical switches are smooth and responsive. The keyboard has n-key rollover, meaning every keystroke is captured, no matter how many keys are depressed at the same time. And last but not least, this is a real cool looking keyboard with the Lord of the Rings Tengwar legends imprinted on all the keys, plus there's 7 red accent keys (included but not installed, but keycap puller is included). The 7 red keys are the Enter, Escape, Arrow keys, and Spacebar. Now the one thing I don't like is that the keyboard is backlight in white, no RGB, and the keycap Tengwar legends are not translucent, so the backlighting is only around the keycaps, not on the keycap faces. Too bad! But it's still a cool looking keyboard especially with the red keys installed! Besides the keyboard, 7 red keycaps and keycap puller, a USB A to C cable is included. The base of the keyboard is aluminum with a plastic top cover. The Eye of Sauron is imprinted in an orangey red above the arrow keys. The letter & number keys look gray in the pictures and on the box but to me they're actually more of a brownish bronze while the rest of the keys are a darker brown/black which gives the whole keyboard a medieval look. Even if you're not into The Lord of the Rings, this is a great looking keyboard with a really nice feel, and the price is reasonable for a high-end mechanical keyboard.

I am super impressed with the DROP Lord of the Rings collab keyboard! I've always been a fan of mechanical keyboards and also of Lord of the Rings, so this seemed like a great collectible item as well as useful keyboard. In fact, I'm typing this review using it right now! Unboxing this keyboard was very well, setup is quite simple with plug and play functionality. It feels comfortable to type on and is well backlit without being distractingly bright. The one thing I would have liked to have seen is the keys being lit in the same way the text on the ring of power itself lights up. Would have been a very nice touch. Each key is marked with the Elvish character as depicted in the films, but just in case the user isn't fluent in elvish, the English characters are also printed smaller so as to not interfere with the cool look. As a final added fan touch, there is an eye of Sauron on the right side above the number pad that is printed on the empty space. Also feels a bit like a missed opportunity that this doesn't glow in some way, but it still looks really cool. All in all, if you or someone you know is a big fan of Tolkien and Lord of the Rings and also happen to need a quality mechanical keyboard that won't break the bank or take up your entire desk, this is the choice for you!

One keyboard to rule none of them

This is a very cool keyboard for a Lord of the Rings fan. The attention to detail is pretty good and I could see this becoming a collectors item. The utility of this keyboard is just a bit hampered by the elvish language scribble keys that are pretty much unreadable as they are Science Fiction and fantasy created for the book and movie. A touch typer like myself is very lost using this however a seasoned no-look typist would have no problems typing on this and as long as they were a fan of the franchise, they would be very happy. I don’t particular care for the back lighting on this keyboard, but that is personal preference as I have come to expect RGB lighting on all my keyboards. The mechanics of the keyboard are sound, and I had no issues typing a few pages. The lack of programmable macros really limits this keyboard to just a novelty in my opinion. This would make a great collectors piece in a Lord of the Rings fan’s collection. The keyboard does include a nice long USB-C cable which should provide adequate length for set up.

I was a bit disappointed the moment I took the keyboard out of the box, because the first thing you notice is that the none of the keys are red as in the main pic. But worry not, they are separately packed, and there is a tool to easily remove the existing keys and putting the new ones in is as simple as aligning them correctly and pressing in. And boy once the accented red ones are in ... the keyboard is drool worthy. It just looks amazing, from far away and up close. The quality of the print on the keys is top notch and the elvish characters give it a mystique. There is LED backlighting as well. Of course you have to be a fan of the literature and/or the movies to fully appreciate it. However, even if you have no idea what LOTR is the keyboard still holds its own in looks and in .. well.. its "keyboardiness". The typing feels smooth and its not over loud or too clicky. Strangely, just the space key is a bit mushy, every other key has just the right feel. It comes with a USB A to USB C connector, which I just wish was a lot longer than the one in the box. 5 ft sounds long, but when you are so used to wireless keyboards, and placing your case and keyboard wherever you want, that 5 ft cramps your style. Its a definite recommend though. What would make this setup complete would be a separate LOTR themed numpad keyboard :)

When I agreed to review this keyboard, I didn't read the description carefully enough. It's a Tengwar keyboard. That means all the keycaps are labeled in Tengwar. Even the punctuation, number keys, and function keys. For the uninitiated, Tengwar is a script made up by J.R.R. Tolkein and it was used to write Elvish in the Lord of the Rings novels. I thought I was a pretty good touch typist, but I quickly found out that I still need to be able to read the keys on the keyboard, particularly for the numbers, punctuation, etc. There was a lot of backspacing and cursing when using the keyboard. The keys themselves are nice and clicky without being too loud. The box comes with a very nice key puller and a set of red keys to replace the arrows, space bar, escape, and return keys. Now, the English letter equivalents to the Tengwar letters on the keycaps are printed onto the side of the keycaps in very very small lettering. It wasn't enough for my old eyes. I'm wanted to like this keyboard, but it's just not for me.
