OK so i bought this cam, on the first day i bought it, it did it job. i needed something to keep people from abusing my elderly 83 year old family member. we had hired a nice young lady, and she was using pills, that turned into heroin use, so at 20$ an hour wasnt good enough, we noticed someone was taking out 900$ a week. so we found out and fired her. after that, she started coming the hours normal care takers would leave for the night. so this camera was great because it recorded to the cloud on their site, it points out times that have action or noise, so no need to scan useless parts and waste valuable time. it does a 5min, 1hr and 24 hr grid that looks a lot like this --------|--||||---||-----||----- (straight grey lines being the times where movement is caught.) so you know exactly where to go. better yet, once you go there, you can choose via sliding bar, or by typing 3:22AM-413AM then save it to your account then export to your HDD (1hr of video being about 50-80MB) so its very easy to grab out the part or parts you need and show them to police or whomever you need to. free cloud with 30 recording trial, so it will save up to 30 days. night vision is not so great but these could easily be used outside if you want to spend that much, problem is just a non removable usb cable that plugs into a usb wall adapter, so running wire would be tough, but took less than 30 min to set up 3 of them inside the house, and they are hidden very well. pros: great to keep workers honest and accountable. and possible to keep you from being liable if they try to fake injury, steal, or simply dont care for your loved one like they should. is awesome for baby monitor or nanny cam two way talk is awesome feature sound is incredible! GREAT field of view! very wide angel cloud recording easy video export and DL small easy to hide very pleasing to the eye so hiding isnt a must unlesss you have a theif even if stolen, you STILL have your video online. nice app for android and ios alerts on sound and movement to app good settings options. list could go on forever. cons: night vision isnt great even though it would last, not a viable option to keep outside hard to hook up stealth outside, has to be sitting upright. alerts get annoying. if someone farts ill get a loud noise alert NO LOCAL VIEWING! you must view all video live or not over your network(browser or app) this is a HUGE bandwidth hog. especially if you get alerts on your phone and check in!

Great camera. Amazing video quality with high speed internet. Neat feature to be able to talk back from the camera. The only issue are sometime it disconnects from my router and the camera gets warm if it's on 24/7.

The video quality is great, easy to install and use. The supporting web and app system works fairly well with the product. Cost is a little high in my opinion, for both the product and cloud recording service.

Dropcams are a very simple, affordable security element. I am on multiple condo boards and have purchased 9 cameras between the clubhouses and my own home. The cameras are very easy to setup. If you are going to put multiple cameras on the same wifi network, you should have reasonably fast Internet service to support the multiple streams. It would be great if the cameras were usable outdoors, but the company is reportedly working on a weatherproof version. I'd also like a camera that could pan and scan remotely. They also need a couple of software enhancements to allow more than just 180 deg image inversion, but overall, a very handy product. Also, iPhone users need to be aware that you need to go into your iPhone security settings to allow Dropcam app to access your microphone if you want to use the 2-way microphone. The default setting has your iPhone mic muted. It's also great that it uses standard USB cabling and power (5v 10W), so you can actually power it from external phone batteries, and add more length to the USB cable as necessary. I note that the IOS software is more full featured than the Android version.

Putting together a DIY home security system, I did my research and landed on the Dropcam Pro as the camera I needed and bought two. For two weeks, I tried it out and found the cloud recording convenient and the picture quality exceptional. The setup spanned two days as it took a couple support calls to figure out that Dropcam can't cope with a comma in my wifi SSID (even though 12 other devices in my home have no problem with it). The level 1 tech seemed to be able to only read from the knowledgebase articles, which was no help. The level 2 tech was the opposite... educated about the technical intricacies of the product down to the way it stores local config files and communicates with the server. The deal-breaker for me - and this may be no problem for you - was that the Dropcam Pro is locked to their cloud network recording. You can't connect to it via local IP, which makes using with with any local video security suite impossible and I'm not yet comfortable with a live video stream of the inside of my house in the cloud. It was for this reason alone that I returned both cameras. tldr; If you want exceptional video quality and cloud recording and very little fuss, this is a winner. If you want local IP access to the camera, look for something else.

I originally bought these cameras as a way of keeping tabs on my 88 year old mother while I was away from the house. It not only helps to watch her at all times it notifies me if there is motion or noise within the area designated by the camera. I thought, why not try them to keep tabs on my outdoor space, but I found out that they are not made for outdoor use. I had to buy an attachment to place them on my windows. No problem. The problem became that if there was no outdoor light source the infrared or night vision did not work. I started leaving the lights on at the front and back of the house and now I have no problems. I also like that you can go back and scroll through the recorded video. I would have no problem recommending this product if what you want is indoor monitoring. Easy to install and with an app for either IOS or Android, I can watch from wherever I am.

This is a terrific camera that we use for home security. It was a cinch to set up, and alerts us whenever anyone crosses a set zone. We had previously ordered one on Amazon, and it stopped working after 2 days, so we returned it and purchased from Best Buy instead (and got the extended warranty, just in case). So far, it's worked perfectly and the only issues we have had are when Comcast goes down. I wish they made an outdoor version! We will likely purchase another one soon.

True 1080p quality. Easy to use app. Only downside is you need a monthly subscription in order to record footage

I bought this to see how our dogs were doing at home while we were at work. There are lots of options for setting alerts through the web interface, such as painting zones so that you receive alerts only when there is movement in those zones., or alerts for loud sounds and I can have it disable alerts when my phone is in the home area. Daytime video looks pretty good, and I can zoom in to bump the quality in a smaller area. The night quality is pretty good. It is easy to see when there were loud sounds or activity in zones and convenient to save clips or create timelapses to save or share. My biggest complaint is that alerts only function through the cloud-based video recording and there are only two recording plans - 7 day or 30 day. Having 3 cameras would cost me $200 per year for the service. I'd like to see a cheaper plan that only records a single day so that I can add cameras and still have alerts and a chance to review the feed.

After trying some other cameras with much frustration, the DropCam was super easy to setup, and work perfectly. I wanted a solution for indoor security, and to check on my elderly mother. This camera works great, I can see a wide angle, zoom and pan quickly and easily. The ability to listen and talk back works well, and the cloud recording service works great.

I use this camera to keep an eye on my handicapped pet while I'm at work. It gives me peace of mind that I can check on him and make sure everything is ok. I also have one monitoring my entryway and porch, good security camera, and the night vision is clear. I had a few issues with randomly needing to sign in with a password at inopportune times. The setup was very easy. I wish the 7day video subscription was free or at least more reasonably priced.

We were a bit skeptical at first but it was as easy to set up as they claimed. The picture is good and the zoom feature works well. You are not going to get full HD 1080 if your viewing device is not connected to a wifi network. The video quality while on 4Glte depends on signal strength. Overall its a great tool to check on the pets while we are at work.

I love this camera so much that I bought 3 more of them. I pay the monitoring fees so I can see everything that happens surrounding my house. I have one at my front door, one facing my driveway, and one inside my garage. I can never remember if I closed my garage door or not, so I bought one just to look at my garage door. I then bought another one to put on the plug socket in my bathroom. I cannot tell you how many times I cannot remember if I unplugged my straightening iron after leaving for work in the morning. I drive away from the house, turn around to go back to double check. Now, I just grab my phone to pull up the app and I can look at the plug to see if it's plugged in or not. I love it. Yes, I know I have a problem but this really helps with my hypochondria. I love to watch my front porch to see if the mailman or UPS driver has dropped off a package I bought. I also use it to see who is at my front door if the doorbell rings before I open the door. It's great. I never want to be without it. It was very easy to set up. It's dependable. It's a little slow to connect from my phone at times, but I still love it.

We bought to use as a baby monitor. Instead of spending money on a baby monitor this works well and can be used in kids play room when older to see who's behaving. It's easy to use and can have cameras added to have house monitored in every room if you want . The only complaint is it does get pretty hot . Other than that we will be purchasing a couple more.

The Dropcam PRO is the perfect IP camera for someone looking to monitor just about anything. Connection is quick and simple with a single USB connection to an outlet or USB power source and with either a traditional PC or a smartphone setup is quick. You create an account login and password, download the app to your smartphone and then plug the camera in. The app will find the camera, you enter your home wireless password and your streaming video, that quick. Night vision is fantastic as well with a range of 25+ FT. The camera is not outdoor capable, although I have an outdoor security camera placed in an upstairs window that can't be seen from either inside or out without really looking for it and the picture quality is outstanding even through the window. They have a CVR recording service that you can subscribe to if you wish, but live streaming is always free! CVR recording comes in 7 or 30 day windows if you wish to have historical recording and runs $9.99 or $29.99 monthly, respectively. The live and CVR recording really came in nice while we were away on vacation and had someone watching our home and pets. You can also cancel the CVR recording or re-add it at anytime if you wish so that you can have it when you need it and not pay for it when you don't. Overall a great IP camera for a one time cost of $199.00. *Tip, don't try and save the $50 by getting the other Dropcam HD. The PRO is well worth the extra one time $50.

This camera is pricier than the alternatives, but it is reliable and integrates well with the Nest app. The fact that Google/Nest support this product should ensure that it receives support for a long time to come. The cloud-based recording feature works well, too, though we did not continue to use it after the trial period because of the cost.

I bought this after reviewing a ton of cameras. I was going to buy a multiple camera set up but realized I just needed one room. Still a little nervous after the purchase I went home and eagerly set it up. Literally took 5 minutes. I did purchase the year cloud back up. $100 for the year = CHEAP. I now can view my dogs, dog walker and any one else in my house from anywhere. The video is great quality. Playback on an iPad is wonderful. The audio feature is a great bonus too. I have had it for two months and it's one of the best purchases I've made. Simple easy and quality. If youre in the market for a single security cam look no further.

This pretty robust system. The images are crisp and high quality. Also set up was really easy. Would have given additional star but sometime the outside loses wifi. But it joins up again. It's fine with all the indoor cameras. Also it would have the extra star if it offered outdoor protection. I had to buy a 3rd party casing from the web.
