Dropout Boogie finds The Black Keys doing what they do well - good, hooky, blues tinged rock. The songs aren't their most adventurous and there really isn't any experimentation outside of their standard formula, so it all sounds a bit familiar. But that songs are still good. While I would've preferred them pushing the boundaries a bit more like they did on an album like Turn Blue, this ends up being like the comfort food of Black Keys albums. You know what you're getting and it is quite nice, just not revolutionary.
