I've been using Duracell batteries exclusively for at least the last quarter of a century. They have consistently proven themselves to outlast all of the other brands. I find Ray-O-Vac to be the next longest lasting battery to Duracell, but it comes in a distant second to Duracell. Whether it be AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt: it doesn't matter. Duracell outlasts the others in every category.

We have about 5 million smoke detectors at our house. All of them are on the same system and for some ungodly reason when one of them goes out [has a dead battery] every detector on the system starts that horrid chirping sound. We had to replace all the batteries at once. Now we just swap them all out once a year and these work better than the other brands.
