I didnt know that returns had to be made within 15 days, now I'm stuck with it! Someone's getting it for Christmas!

Cheap but highly flawed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was highly skeptical that the power supply was up to par given the hub + a power supply was so cheap. I was correct to assume that the power supply was poorly made. The power supply puts out ac power and not dc power even though the hub requires dc power. This means that hub either has internal rectification or will cause issues to the devices plugged into it. In this case the hub causes ripple on the power rails going to usb devices. I have a backlit keyboard connected to it and the backlight flickers when connect through this hub, but is fine directly to the computer. I measured the output of the usb power rails and found them to be putting out about 59 hz ac power but at 5 volts. This started having the added issues of making my mouse randomly disconnect when used via this hub. I can not recommend this device as a powered hub as the included ac adapter is poor and is not designed for the product. As an unpowered hub it might work, but I have yet to test this.

That said, USB 3.0 is here and spreading, and it's well worth upgrading to a USB 3 hub for the speed boosts in data transfers on USB 3 external hard drives and USB sticks.
