I was a little hesitant on trying the new Dyson - Airwrap Coanda 2x Multi-Styler and Dryer For Curly+Coily Hair because out of the many Dyson hair machines I have tried I was probably the most disappointed in the original Airwrap (the one where the barrel was one directional so you received 4 in the set) for people with my hair type or similar. It did not work well following the brands instructions for my hair type overall and it felt like it actually added more time to hair styling which defeats the purpose of choosing a multi styler. I was intrigued by the sets being released with more focus on specific hair types (although I do realize this is true with another version of the Airwrap but was not this way when the original came out) so I figured it was time to give this product line another try.
Packaging wise Dyson continues to do a great job with including presentation cases to safely and neatly store the machine and its attachments. With this set though unfortunately they didn't make room for the Wave+Curl diffuser which is a disappointing. Instead of making a larger case they opted to use the same dimensional case they have for the previous Airwraps as well as the SuperSonic hair dryers. It's a not a huge deal but it just means you can't keep the diffuser with everything else. But otherwise, the case is sturdy and well made (although the flimsy stock paper used as dividers has always felt like a cheap budget cut since the original had fixed dividers made out of hard plastic).
The attachments included are somewhat similar to past offerings including the round volumizing brush, a loop brush (which is designed differently), a comb labeled as tension comb, and the 2 in 1 diffuser. But what makes these attachments better besides the redesign for some of them is the thought put into the upgrades to what the actual machine does. Much stronger airflow and heat than the original that I have and a big one for me, stronger airflow for wrapping around the curling barrel meaning the opportunity to get tighter wrap and in turn better curls. I wish they offered the smaller 1" barrel in addition to the 1.6" that is included to give a little more option for varying hair lengths. I can use the 1.6" without issue for my long hair and the various shorter layers I have but for someone with shorter hair they may feel like the provided barrel is too big for their needs. But overall, most users will find the attachments included should fit their needs. I should also mention the app. Setup and pairing were simple. And you can watch tutorials with ease to help you along the way. The app is also how you use ID Curl, which makes taking the guess work out of how to get he perfect curl with the precise timer to wrap, curl, and cold blast which is atumatically tailored to your hair needs.
A couple pros for me includes the stronger airflow that I have already mentioned as well as the heat options reaching temps that feel as hot and as strong as I experience with my SuperSonic dryers. This is especially helpful for those with coily and more textured hair. While it definitely gets hot it doesn't feel like you are getting damaging heat as Dyson has proven (at least in my experience) that they have got the science down perfectly to help get the best results without causing heat damage.
The con for me isn't really a big one but while I definitely feel like it performs much better than the original (especially with the dryer feeling virtually like it has the power of the Supersonic) I still don't feel like it makes styling my hair from post wash to the steps of my entire routine faster. I'm more drawn to using the curling barrel between washes if I want to add a little volume back to my hair with flowing curls. While the ability to get a better and smoother blowout exists with this version over the original I still feel like I get the best results from the supersonic and a paddle brush I can appreciate that this multi tool makes things convenient.
Overall, I was definitely left with a far better opinion of this Airwrap than I had for the oroginal I own and has been sitting untouched for likely well over a year or two. It is definitely expensive but if you will truly use it it really may be worth trying.

As someone with natural hair caught between wavy and curly and that’s thickand longish, it’s hard to heat style my hair without drying it out or leaving it frizzy. Especially without it taking me a long time to get it done. I’ve recently tried a couple of another brands’ hair styling systems without being impressed so I was prepared to have the same results with the Dyson Airwrap Coanda2x. I am so happy to say that they were not!
The airflow of the dryer dried my hair faster than I think one ever has and it didn’t leave it feeling hot. I’m usually sweating in my head before I get all of my hair dry but not this time. The attachments were easy to change so I was able to move quickly from drying to styling. My hair is thick enough so I’m not typically looking for volume, but the diffuser does great at reducing the frizz, so I accept the added volume with it. What became my favorite to use out of all the included attachments, though, is the tension comb and the curling barrel. I can stretch my waves and curls without losing texture or I can add so extra ‘oomph’ to them.
But what sold me on this Dyson Airwrap system overall despite how pricy it is was how my hair stays soft and bouncy feeling and not dry and bothered after I use it. The only downside is that it’s difficult for me to travel with because of the size of the system and its case.

I have had great hair styling dryers and curlers before, and some not so great. I own the predecessor to the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x Multistyler and Dryer, but this one is specifically designed for Curly and Coily hair, and it is much more helpful and valuable for my curly hair type than the original I purchased in 2016. After a few months of using the original model, I ended up having to buy another expensive low-heat hairdryer to have a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment. The attachments included with the Co-anda 2x Multistyler are precisely what is needed for curly hair, and include all the required tools for fast, curly hair drying that were missing from the original model. The original model I owned was nice, but it was definitely designed for shoulder-length to longer, straight hair.
The new Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x is designed with Dyson’s Hyperdymium 2 motor, which is 30 percent stronger than its predecessor. Because the air pressure is twice as powerful, the styling tool can dry hair very quickly without causing heat damage. The Tension comb attachment is designed to smooth curly and coily hair without stretching it. However, I use this tool to dry my curls at the scalp, ensuring they are locked in at the root and last longer. Then I use the 1.6” Coanda 2x curling barrel to dry and lock the curls. This is one of the new intelligent styling tools that is included with this Airwrap. By downloading the app from Dyson and pairing the styler with your phone, this tool will operate based on the information you enter into the app regarding your personal preferences. The tip of this tool allows direction of air flow to be changed by switching it to the right or left. This is an excellent feature because hair drying and styling must be done in both directions to care for the right and left sides of your head. When paired with the app, this tool interacts with the app and senses movement to automatically wrap strands of hair, adjust the proper heat and airflow to dry the strand of curl, and finishes with cool air to lock the curl in place. This is automatic, based on the drying and cooling times for each individual’s hair type, as input into the app. The app remembers your settings and will retain your information for your subsequent use.
In addition to these three styling tools, the case also includes three more: a fast dryer, a round volumizing brush, and an anti-snag loop brush. Together, these work to dry hair quickly, add volume to the hairstyle, and provide a smooth, aligned finish for a more tailored look.
There are four (4) heat settings and three (3) speeds. The cord is very ample at 6.56 feet in length. This length is ideal for using the device without any constraints, allowing for unrestricted use to reach all corners of your hair more effectively. It is a 1700-watt dryer and operates on 120 volts. I like how it is lightweight, even with the attachments, and how easily it fits in your hand. The tubular shape of the dryer is slightly oval, making it much easier to hold than one that is perfectly cylindrical. The presentation case neatly stores the dryer and all the styling tools. It is professionally designed, very well-made, and has a classic, quality look that is consistent throughout the entire product.
This dryer/styler is a little pricey, but sometimes time is essential, and the appeal of a nicely finished hairstyle is too. I have always enjoyed my Dyson products, and I know I will enjoy this one just as much.

The Smart Hair Styler

I have daughters with fine, curly hair. They have the kind of curls naturally cascading down their back(s) that people will pay a lot of money to have set/styled/permed to have.
However, hair of this nature does not lend itself to hairstyling. So, for recitals, fancy events, etc. sometimes I need to be creative with their dos. It rarely behaves and struggles to stay in place.
I have all manner of heated brushes, hair dryers, flat irons, and curlers. What I lack is cooperation (from the hair) and patience. I’m always looking for a tool that will make this task easier.
Enter the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda. To briefly describe this tool, I would say it’s the smart version of the tools listed above. It comes with several attachments (please see photos) for drying, curling, and straightening.
It comes with a lovely case to fit almost all the attachments with the base unit (the diffuser, sadly, does not fit in the box with everything else.) The lid of the case can be reversed to hold your phone, along with clips or other styling tools (clips not included.)
You will need to download the My Dyson app to utilize the styler. Setting up is easy and uses Bluetooth technology to connect to your phone.
The app will ask you about your experience level, your hair type, and what kinds of styles you are interested in. The next thing you will want to set up is “i.d. curl.”
This is the “smart” styler function. There is a tutorial on the app, and it allows you to do a test run of the curling process. You will want to hold a section of your hair and allow the wrap to take the hair on its own. The styler will then curl the hair by itself. There are timers on the screen to show you how long to hold the curl. The styler will form a curl, hold and heat it, then cool the hair down and release it. You just watch the app to see how it goes through each stage. The process takes 30-45 seconds per section.
What I really liked is that there was no waiting to heat up the product as you would a curling iron. It takes the profile of your hair and computes how to style your hair to give the best curl. The air heats up, not the attachment.
There are many videos on the app showing how to use the styler. I picked one that showed how to straighten hair with the brush attachment, since that is what my test subject wanted.
This was much easier to use than a standard heated brush. The hair didn’t get hot and crispy using the Dyson. One thing I wish I had used was heat protectant spray. The video did not instruct me to use one and I didn’t think about it until afterward.
It straightened most of her hair. I had a few flips on the ends that wouldn’t lay flat. She was happy with the overall result, so I left it as it was. Her hair went from curly to more of a feathered 80s era style. I thought it was cute. She was thrilled.
With more practice, I think I will learn to use the other attachments to achieve different looks. If you are used to styling every day, your learning curve may be much shorter than mine. The app could not be more helpful for a beginner like me.

I’ve heard a lot of buzz regarding Dyson hair products lately and I’ve been wanting to see what all the noise was about for myself. I decided to give the new Dyson Airwrap Coanda Multi-Styler and Dryer for curly+coily hair a try on my hair. I have a natural medium length coarse grade of hair for reference. One of the main reasons I wanted to try the Dyson Co-anda was due to the amount of time it takes me to style my hair. From start to finish, it takes on average 3 to 4 hours to completely style my hair. Some questions I had going into the experiment was could the Dyson reduce the time it takes to style my hair and provide the look I was seeking in the end result?
Packaging
The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x comes with several high-end attachments and a nice storage case. I have the ceramic pink/rose gold color option and presentation is very elegant. The case is a hard-shell protective case that allows you to store the all the accessories with the exception of the diffuser. The accessories include a dryer, tension comb, curling barrel, 2 brushes and diffuser.
How does it feel
Using the Dyson Co-anda 2x has cut down my styling time considerably. The dryer works really well. I was able to dry my hair in record time after sectioning off parts of my hair. The anti-snag brush does a great job straightening my hair. Im currently still new to the Dyson world, so using the My Dyson app has helped me with learning how to properly use the tool. I had to practice getting the hang of using the airwrap down.
The biggest question is does Dyson Co-anda 2x live up to the hype and is it worth the total cost? After using the device, I really love it. I like the dryer features, I love the attachments and the ability to use the app. I really wish there was a straightening tool added. Since the cost is substantial, I would have liked if Dyson included this attachment so I wouldn’t need to use another device to straightening my hair. I still love my Dyson and as I continue learning how to operate the device. My hair looks and feels better after using Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x. For me, Im definitely keeping this tool around.

The Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x Multi-Styler and Dryer for Curly and coily hair is a curly girls dream come true! Right out of the box before you get to all the fancy things this does - the first thing I noticed is how light the diffuser is compred to what I have been using. Plus, I am able to dry my hair in six minutes with the diffuser. Now let's talk about some of the fancy things these tools do. First, you can connect this blow dryer to the My Dyson app. You can use this dryer with your your phone. It will tell you how to use the tools. The fast dryer really dries your hair so fast to get ready to use for the airwrap of other tools. You can see how log the airwrap will take for each curl and more. It is all connected via blue tooth.
Here are some of the suggested ways to use the tools.
-Stretch: Use the wide-tooth comb attachment to shape and lengthen curly and coily hair as it dries.
-Define: Use the Wave+Curl diffuser to define and shape natural curl patterns. Dome mode (without prongs) enhances and defines natural waves or curls. Diffuse mode (with prongs) adds volume at the root for more texture.
-Curl: Use the Fast dryer and Firm smoothing brush to take hair to 80 percent dry and smooth before styling. Use the Conical barrel for a defined curl. Power on your Dyson Airwrap i.d.™ and slide thumb up on the power button to begin the i.d. curl sequence.
All of the tools come in a nice box to store the items in. You can flip the top upside down and it will hold your phone while you are using your tools. Even though this is a very pricy product, for those that can afford it - it is awesome!

This is my first Dyson hairdryer. I was wondering what all of the hype was after watching a few YouTube videos I still wasn’t in awe.
Fast-forward to me receiving the box thinking it was something huge, but realizing it was the hairdryer. As soon as I opened up the box, I realized how many attachments there were and something that I really appreciate is the Storage case or carrying case that it comes with. It has the smoothest texture and it fits absolutely everything inside, although I did have to remove the separator in the middle.
Using the dryer was extra simple after learning what each button did I set the heat to the middle? I set the blower to high and make sure to attach the attachment that I plan to use before turning it on or even plugging it in
I have really curly hair after coming out of the dryer. I often put a lot of product in twisted a little un twisted and then let my hair air dry
Sometimes I am in a huge rush and need to dry my hair, but I don’t wanna sit under a dryer and the regular hand dryer doesn’t work either so there’s an attachment that works perfectly
I do plan to do a silk press and all of the attachments that come with it seem like they will work perfect I’m so excited

A pleasant surprise for a Dyson Airwrap newbie

SUMMARY: For reference, I am an African American woman with natural, non-relaxed, coarse, dense, thick, and dry 4C hair. My hair is medium length, making it to my shoulders if not slightly past it. With typical hair dryers, my attachments might break or pop off while in use. I need to use tools that are strong enough to manage my type of 4C hair. Due to my hair type and needs, I was doubtful the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler would work for me. Once I received it, I was eager to try the attachments that were included; specifically, I was interested in their wide tooth stretch tension comb and their smooth anti-snag loop brush. I wanted to know if they could be used to aid in detangling my hair. On average, it takes me 40 minutes to an hour to fully dry my hair. On the first day I used this tool, it dried 75% of my hair in 15 minutes to 20 minutes. In the end, I used the tool for closer to an hour because I was alternating between three attachments. The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x took half that time to dry my hair though; this multi-use hair tool is very fast due to the Co-anda technology inside it.
TIPS: Make sure your ends are trimmed prior to using this hair tool, or else the attachments won’t go through 4C hair as well. Because my ends are really bad right now, the attachments did not go all the way through as smoothly. Make sure your hair is properly detangled beforehand. Also, don’t be lazy like me, and make sure you section your hair into at least 4-6 sections prior to use. The attachments, such as the smooth anti-snag attachment and the stretch tension comb, will work better if you do. Lastly, make sure you use leave-in conditioner and/or serum with a heat protectant, as this device does get very hot and it will work better on hydrated hair. While you are drying your hair, if you feel that it needs more moisture, periodically spraying your hair with water or a hair product mimicking water will definitely aid in the effectiveness and ease of use of this hair tool. I cannot stress enough the importance of moisture in your 4C hair when using the Airwrap Co-anda 2x, so be liberal with your products, and re-wet whenever needed.
DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS: The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x is Bluetooth capable meant to pair with the MyDyson app. The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x uses I.D. technology like previous Airwrap models do. It comes in multiple colors and there are two versions of it: straight+wavy or curly+coily. I have the version that is for curly+coily hair. This version of the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x comes with the following intelligent attachments: a Wave+Curl diffusor attachment, the wide-tooth tension comb attachment, a round volumizing brush attachment, their smooth anti-snag loop brush attachment, a 1.6" Co-anda2x™ curling barrel attachment, and their fast dryer attachment. The fast dryer attachment, the smooth anti-snag brush attachment, and the volumizing brush attachment have all been updated with design modifications to increase their efficacy compared to the prior versions of the same attachments. All of the attachments included with the Airwrap Co-anda 2x work two-times faster than the previous versions of the same attachments as included with previous Airwrap models. The curling barrel can curl in both directions with one barrel all by turning a knob at the top of the barrel which changes the direction of the airflow. Older Dyson Airwraps required you to alternate between two-barrel sizes, which meant constantly switching them during the styling process.
NOTE: This tool gets very hot very fast. Dyson is not exaggerating when they recommend waiting a minute or two before removing or changing the attachments. Make sure you follow all of Dyson’s instructions and guidelines. Also, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x will not turn on unless an attachment is on it. You will see a quick blinking red light located where the power button is, followed by a slow blinking white light which means the device is on standby mode until you are ready to use it. I thought my device was broken because it wouldn’t turn on, it took me ten minutes to realize it wasn’t turning on because the attachment wasn’t on it. Similarly, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x will power off when the filter cover is off. It cannot be used when you’re trying to clean the filter. These appear to be built in fire prevention features Dyson included on the Airwrap Co-anda 2x.
PROS: It dries my hair significantly faster than any other hair dryer I’ve used at home. This feels like it gets as hot as a hand dryer used in professional salons. I also think it’s really easy to use once you get past the initial learning curve; all you need is some practice or to watch some tutorials to get the hang of it. I like the fact that the attachments are easy to put on and that they stay on while the styler is in use; the locking mechanism on the hair tool is really secure. While it has some weight to it, I don’t think the Airwrap Co-anda 2x is particularly heavy. The longer you use it, because you’re using it for styling after drying, or you have more hair than me, the heavier it will feel on your wrist area, but I didn’t begin to feel any pressure in my wrist until I was done drying. Since the Airwrap gets really hot fast, I love that the cool shot button works quickly. I estimate it took me about 6 seconds to feel the change in temperature. I like that there is a tiny white light indicator near the bottom of the Airwrap that will flash whenever the filter needs to be cleaned or when the filter cover needs to be put back on. I also like how the Dyson Airwrap comes with a pretty case, which they call a presentation case, to store the hair tool and its attachments. This case would look beautiful displayed on a shelf in a beauty room, or even sitting on a large vanity.
CONS: The device itself is not heavy, but its electrical cord is, and while I love how long the cord is, I think it might make it hard to travel with the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x. It would likely have to go in a checked bag or suitcase as opposed to a carryon. The hair styler also comes with a bit of a learning curve regarding the round-brush attachment. Not everyone uses round -brushed for styling, so if you haven’t before, you will need to practice. The curling barrel attachment does most of the work for you, as it does a decent job of quickly grabbing and wrapping your hair around it, but if you never used a Dyson Airwrap tool before, you may struggle to use this attachment in the beginning. Fortunately, Dyson anticipated this because they included a feature in the MyDyson app that allows you to practice using the curling barrel in your hair, getting you used to how long you need to curl it, how to twirl it, etc.
STRETCH TENSION COMB: So far, I’m not the biggest fan of this attachment. I’ve used similar attachments from other companies that I feel work better on coarse, 4C African American hair. I like that the teeth on the comb bend and are flexible so they theoretically shouldn’t tug or get snagged/tangled in my hair. However, perhaps if the teeth were slightly firmer, this would work the way I want it to. I want something that can detangle while drying my hair at the same time, and I’m not sure that this attachment can do that. I think I got better stretch with the smooth anti-snag brush compared to the stretch tension comb. Having said that, it did stretch my hair, so I cannot say this attachment did not work; however, I think the anti-snag brush may have stretched my hair out more efficiently. Also, my ends need a trim, so that partially affected the performance of this attachment. I do like the fact that the tension comb remained secured to the Airwrap the entire time I used it, as that was a concern for me.
SMOOTH ANTI-SNAG LOOP BRUSH: The loop ends of the bristles on the brush help avoid the anti-snag brush from getting tangled in your hair. This is especially important for people who with thick, dense 4C hair like mine. I feel this is better than the stretch tension comb at stretching my coils, and this brush does give some shine to the hair. I also like to use this brush for detangling my hair. On my head, this brush detangled and dried sections of hair faster than the stretch tension comb.
CONCLUSION: For my African American sisters that have TRUE 4C hair and no relaxer, yes, you can use this hair tool. Yes, the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x will work on your hair type but be mindful of your expectations. If you are expecting this to work like a flat iron or hot comb on your hair, you may be disappointed. It is a hair dryer first and foremost, and a blowout on you will look differently using this than it would if your hair was relaxed or if you had a loose curl pattern. This hair tool gets hot and can give your hair some shine and some stretch, but it will not give you “I just got a Brazilian blowout at the Dominican hair salon” type of results, nor will it give you silk press results if you only use the Airwrap. You will need to use a flat iron after using the Airwrap if you are looking for that really sleek and silky look. For anyone else with curly hair, this is the only hair tool you need. The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler is sheer perfection on looser textured hair. It will absolutely give someone with 3B and 3A, or even 3C curls that professional salon blowout look.

Great for smoothing — but not worth the high price for curly/coily hair
As someone with curly/coily hair, I was really hoping the Dyson Airwrap would be the all-in-one tool that replaced my dryer, straightener, and curling iron. While it definitely has its strengths, I can’t say the cost justifies the results — especially if you already own the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer.
The additional attachments are nice, especially the brush and smoothing dryer. They make it easier to get the roots straighter and smoother compared to a regular hair dryer, which is a huge plus for my texture. The Airwrap also does a good job reducing frizz overall — my hair feels more smooth and less puffy after using it.
The curling attachment just isn’t it for curly or frizz-prone hair. It takes a lot of practice, and even when you get the hang of it, the curls don’t hold as well as with a traditional curling iron. My hair tends to lose the curl quickly, and it doesn’t look as smooth or defined. The diffuser works fine — about on par with the Dyson hair dryer’s diffuser — but not significantly better.
Overall, if you’re primarily looking to smooth and stretch your curls closer to straight, the Airwrap can help with that and reduce frizz at the same time. But for the price, I’d honestly recommend just investing in the Dyson hair dryer instead. I own both the Dyson straightener and the hair dryer, and I find myself reaching for those way more often.
It’s a high-quality tool, but for curly/coily hair, it’s more of a “nice to have” than a “must have.”

This device really is a game changer with the hair routine....once you get through the learning curve. There are quite a few different attachments, and it actually connects with an app on your phone through Curl ID. It somehow figures out what type of hair you have and determines the correct amount of heat to apply and how long to apply it for. My only negative is that it sometimes seems to overheat, and shut off, which is I guess to control the heat. I can usually get around this by "rebooting" it and unplugging and replugging it back up. Hopefully that happens less in the future.
Overall though this is essentially a "smart" multistyler --- the curl attachment even allows you to flip a switch to choose which direction you want your curl to go. Plus, can we take a moment to recognize the stylish case it comes with?? And it contains all but the diffuser attachment. Love it!
I would definitely plan some time to navigate through the app and get the most use out of the technology because it is truly groundbreaking and efficient. Dyson also seems very conscientious about tending to the kinks and issues that customers are having with the Airwrap.
