Small yet very powerful. Sucks every dust and dirt on carpets and even on hard floors but best in cleaning cars.

For those of us constantly on the go in our vehicles, whether it be chauffeuring the children to school, commuting back and forth to work, working on the road or whatever else causes havoc to the interior of your vehicle, having a handy dandy vacuum available for those times where that is the only option, the new Dyson car and boat handheld vacuum might be right up your alley. In my case, I already carry a variety of other cleaning and detail products in my truck, including a duster, wet wipes, microfiber clothes, lens wipes, etc. but had no means to get the crumbs and dust left behind by our minions and that’s personally why I was interested in the idea of also keeping a small handheld vacuum handy. I got tired of all the messes my children made in the backseat and being unable to clean it up without dismantling my home vacuum cleaner or busting out the shop vacuum, especially when you might end up with unexpected passengers and don’t want to face the embarrassment of a messy vehicle. My other interest in the Dyson handheld was because we also own a boat where the same messy issues happen, with or without kids, and have to wait until we get home before we can even start to vacuum up the messes left behind from a day on the lake. Out of the box, the Dyson handheld was very easy to set up without any reliance on instructions. After a quick initial charge, I was ready to connect a cleaning nozzle and give it a whirl. Since it was raining outside at the time, I decided just to see how well it performed indoors on our carpeted stair which I typically try to keep clean on a daily basis with the amount of people and dog traffic we get in our house. Being that I had recently used our stick vacuum on the stairs I was mainly trying it just to see how the Dyson performed in comparison to our high-end stick vacuum, how much noise it made and how well it worked. Surprisingly, even though we had just recently vacuumed, this little handheld Dyson vacuum managed to suck up more dust and debris than I expected as the stairs already looked clean. The Dyson was ergonomically sound and balanced while using it and relatively light in comparison to using our stick vacuum. Emptying the dust bin was easy as well with a simple tug on the red labeled part on top and, voila, I was all done and ready for the truck test. After the days of rain finally stopped, I was ready to give the Dyson a shot at days’ worth of children traffic in-and-out of the back seat with dirty, wet shoes from school and golf practice. Typically, I will just wait to vacuum it until I can manage to get to the car wash and knock it out all at once however being able to vacuum the backseat in the interim made it much easier to maintain cleanliness. Using all three of the included attachments, I was able to vacuum up the seats, floorboards, mats, carpet and in between all the tight spaces with ease and still have enough battery left to do the same cleaning at least another time. Thankfully I have a regular plug in my truck and boat but it would have been nice for others that don’t to include a car power adapter in this kit. Having a dedicated handheld vacuum that is small enough to fit under the back seat of my truck is a game changer for me in our busy lives and even more convenient when we take out the boat and have to clean up all the sand, gravel, smashed up chips on the floor, etc. on the go. And I can even delegate the chore to someone else, including the kids, while I button up all the other things that go along with boat life that many passengers don’t know about, however, everyone knows how to use a vacuum.

Well, my plan was to do a "before & after" shot of cleaning out the car but the weather decided it wanted to be late spring instead of winter. It's gonna be a hot 80 degrees and rainy, so the only things I got to clean were window AC filters, lol. In a couple days it's gonna be freezing and we'll have to drip the faucets. So, on to the Dyson Car & Boat. The unit is far smaller than a full size Dyson, which it needs to be to maneuver around tighter spaces. Because of the size the battery is smaller (and not removable) and the weight is reduced. One thing that I wish they'd have done was make the Car & Boat use the same charger as the standard Dysons. I hate having to keep track of multiple chargers - heck switching to USB-C would have been nice since so many other devices already use it. There are plenty attachments to use and will take care of most messes. The only brush that's motorized is the pet attachment. The others are just passive types. Suction is surprisingly powerful for a small device. I did a quick test on some potting mix I accidentally knocked over and it got it right up, even some of the small rocks that were in the mix. The Dyson does not disappoint and I can't wait til summer to see how it handle beach sand - I usually have to bring out a shop vac for that task. There's a switch to increase the power if needed and I think sand will be needing it! As for AC filter cleaning, it was no challenge and the particles were removed without effort. The one thing that I wish they'd have included, other than using similar chargers to the full size unit, is a hose attachment. I had to buy a third party one because space in a car is limited and a big "stick" is hard to move around in some areas, especially under the seats. It would have been a nice addition. The downside of the hose I bought is that it doesn't allow power to passthrough so it can't be used with the pet attachment. Since the Car & Boat pass power on to some attachments, you can share attachments with your full size Dyson. This is a great feature because the stick attachment on my home Dyson has a light in it which would be more helpful in the car than in the house. Cleaning is pretty easy - one pull and the trash dumps out. Pull out the filter and rinse. All done. There is a HEPA filter that will eventually need replacing, but I don't see the point of having that filter on a car vac since contaminants will return the moment you take your first ride with the window open - which I do a lot. So far this vacuum is a big winner and performs so much better than my old car vac. I hope it'll last as long because my old unit is hitting 11 years now!

I’ll start out by saying I have used a handheld vacuum from Dyson for several years now…the Dyson DC 34 model. In fact, I use that vacuum almost daily and it’s held up well. Along comes the new Dyson - Car+Boat Handheld Cordless Vacuum. It comes complete with three accessories and a charger, including the standard crevice tool and a cleaning tool with collapsible brush. But this time around, Dyson also includes a power head too with rotating brush, which is perfect for cleaning carpeted floor mats and carpeting often found on the floor of recreational boats. One can certainly see the Dyson lineage progression over the years as it looks quite similar to my older DC 34. The main difference I see is that the new model adds a pair of dust filters. The cyclonic-chamber head that makes Dyson work so well also has changed to include more chambers, going from four on my DC 34 to eight in the new model. Presumably that’s for improved suction. A quick subjective test confirms the newer model indeed has stronger suction, especially at the MAX setting. It has no problem with cleaning out gravel and leaves find on the floorboard of my car. Cleaning the dustbin is simple enough, just pull up on the red plastic tab and the contents will drop out of the clear dustbin with one simple motion. I really like the fact that everything needed to empty and clean the vacuum is easily accessible. Simply push down again on the top of the vacuum to close and snap the bottom lid closed to resume operation. Even though it uses two air filters, both are easily washable, which is really a handy feature and as such, no additional filter expenses. I suppose at some point one might want to replace them down the road, but I would think washing and drying them as instructed should provide long filter life. Even though its name implies it’s for cars and boats, I see no reason why this won’t replace your home handheld vacuum for use around the house for quick pickups, cleaning stairs, and cleaning in tight spaces. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s a multi-purpose vacuum that I will use every day and give my DC 34 a well-deserved rest. Or better yet, now I can clean with a vacuum in each hand!

The Dyson Car Handheld Vacuum was a breeze to use. The simple "no frills or thrills" conception is a good concept. There is no external battery to plug and unplug. A simple cord to plug in and recharge. No buttons or a display for settings. You get a simple easy-to-use vacuum. That is what I enjoyed most about this product The lightweight ease of use for anyone looking to clean out the car. You can even clean other things. I let my elderly family member try it on her car floorboards. She even enjoyed it as well. She said it was "Simple, Easy, and Fast." Within ten minutes the floor on her vehicle was clean. If you have any other Dyson attachments they do easily connect to the car vacuum. I do whish they came with more add-ons. It's a simple plug-n-play design. The cleaning and unloading of the trash couldn't be more easier. The one-setting should go a long way for what this thing is for. You can't go wrong here, I think you know what your getting with this simple and easy to use vacuum.

Works great. Battery life and power are more than enough to get the job done. The charging takes a bit of time, but is hardly an issue. Great for getting into tight areas in the car. Love it!

We replaced our old Dyson DC5 with this, and couldn't be happier! THis runs considerably quieter, and the battery lasts MUCH longer. And, we love the fact that they kept the turbo mode.

By far and away the best and most useful vacuum I’ve ever used. My dog gets hair everywhere and because it is so fine, it goes into my couch material like needles. This vacuum gets everything and does it super quickly. Been a GAME CHANGER.

It is a great vacuum that picks up pet hair, dust and any other small debris. The only thing is the battery life is pretty short.

Easy to hold and great suction. Needs a soft brush however because the plastic extends beyond the bristles and scratches the sufaces in the car.

Dyson is definitely the best. This is so easy to use and does a fantastic job. The only thing I would say is that I wish it just had an on/off switch. Constantly having to keep my finger on the trigger while using is kind of a pain.
