Presentation The Dyson V10 Animal is packaged in a diminutive box with clear instructions on how to assemble and operate. Having owned a V7 for a few years, this unit feels just as solid as any Dyson product but with one major caveat… it feels massively better in-hand & in use compared to its predecessors AND the competition. Not blowing smoke here… this design is a major step forward… as I will explain. Initial Setup Setup was simple and straightforward. Assembling the few pieces were simple and required little effort. The unit comes with an internal battery pack that is rated to run up to 1 full hour on the lowest power setting. If there is an Achilles heel to Dyson stick products it is the mere fact that the batteries are concealed and non-removable. We assembled this beast in less than 5 minutes and proceeded to top off the battery – which took just under 2 hours. Being the ‘pet version’, this system comes with a full array of attachments which should please most pet owners. Performance The controls on the handle easy to identify and easy to use. No electronic switches for speed and surface control like the next big competitor but the switch action is positive & precise. Two big drawbacks of the previous versions – in addition to the limited run-time and non-removable battery situation – has been noise and balance. And this is where I believe the Dyson engineers were put to the task of rethinking their design and did so in spectacular form. There are three power (or motor speed) settings in the V10 and all are effective depending on the task at hand. We noticed straight away that even at the lowest setting this new design was extremely good at picking up even solid mass debris like sand and kibbles. To be quite honest, in the two weeks of usage we rarely found an instance where we needed to implement the highest power setting. The redesign is just that good. The only time we found that the Max speed is preferred is when we wanted to really give our area rugs a solid thrashing, with the deepest extraction. And in that respect the V10 Animal doesn't disappoint. And the bonus here is that even at its lowest setting, the noise factor is a complete non-issue. The engineers struck Gold with this facet of the design change. In all honesty all three speeds are relatively quiet with the ‘Max’ setting still pleasant in use. I’ve always complained about the noise factor with Dyson ‘sticks’ and am pleased to see such advancement. Our dog approves too! Everyone has a different level of sensitivity to noise & pitch - but from my perspective - that annoying high pitched whine problem is a thing of the past with Dyson. Having a look at the overall construction of the V10 compared to our aging V7, my best guess is that there is a more direct or linear flow-through approach to the design, from head to exhaust and a better designed motor in situ. And with the much larger dust bin cylinder in an inline, flow-thru orientation as well - compared to the older transverse design – kudos to the design team for this bit of ingenuity. The larger capacity bin is easier to empty with an intuitive latch control and slide-forward eject action. Brilliant! The other huge step forward in this design is the overall weight balance of the vacuum in hand and the more smooth & precise swivel action of the cleaning head. The unit is definitely heavier in its design but that increase in mass is masked by a very well balanced layout. Again, more brilliant engineering prowess from the Dyson team. There are three-stage led indicators in a clear line-of-sight position that shows the battery level in use, a smooth activating trigger button and a logical position for the charging connector. Small things in the bigger scheme of things but worth noting. These trendy robot Frisbees got nothing on a beast like this. Summary I’ve written quite a few reviews over the past 18 months and I have to admit that this review has been the most exciting to do because of the sheer magnitude of the design improvements presented. Sure it’s just a vacuum cleaner but it far superior to anything Dyson has released previously and we’ve used and/or owned a few since 1999. Noise abatement, ergonomics and usability have all been massively improved and make the chore of vacuuming a pleasant experience – with noise factor probably being the biggest, noticeable advancement. Ditch the robot and move around a little – in comfort. Pros: Ease of setup. Extremely quiet for its cleaning ability. Does an excellent job of cleaning compared to the previous generation – even at the lowest setting. Plenty of reserve battery power. Excellent balance and comfortable to use. Larger capacity dust bin that is easier to empty. And did I mention – It’s extremely quiet to use for its cleaning ability/ Cons: Non-removable battery tech. We cannot recommend this product enough – at just about any price. It’s just that good.

Dyson has a winner with their new design of the Cyclone V10. I own the Motorhead V7 which fell short in a few areas, fortunately Dyson has addressed these issues and now has hands down, the best cordless vacuum I have seen. To start the V10 offers up to 60 minutes of run time on the base setting of the three modes. Dyson refers to it as ‘base’ instead of low for good reason, it has strong suction even at the lowest setting thanks to the 125,000 RPM ceramic shaft digital motor and the 14 cyclones. I only found myself switching to the higher powerful suction setting when vacuuming hard to reach places. The maximum setting only provided me with 7 minutes of continuous runtime, but I rarely found a need to switch it to that mode. For most of your day to day cleaning the base setting will provide plenty of power and battery life. I feel at the medium (powerful) setting the V10 outperforms my V7 in MAX, which says a lot about the performance of the new motor Dyson has built into the V10. In addition to the improved performance and battery life, the V10 has a redesigned dust bin/cyclone rotating it 90 degrees. For the most part I liked the change. I feel the vacuum is better balanced and now has increased bin capacity. The bin also can be removed to be cleaned further, another short coming of many cordless vacs I have owned. I am also pleased that Dyson has a removable HEPA filter that can be easily cleaned as well. Though I wouldn’t recommend resting it against a wall, the V10 stays in place thanks to the rubber added to the base of the vacuum and the bottom of the torque drive head. The motorized torque drive head on my model does a great job of cleaning my thick pile rugs on base suction (the V7 would stall on the rugs) without hanging, though it is a bit tall to fit under some of my cabinets. Fortunately, the parts are interchangeable with my V7, a plus if you already own a lower profile head. In addition to the torque drive cleaner head, the Dyson v10 animal includes a great variety of other attachments such as the mini motorized tool, mini soft dusting brush, crevice tool, and combination tool; all of which are easily changed with a one had release button. Other improvements include battery/clean filter/clog indicators, contoured handle, and faster charging at 3.5 hours. The only negative remark I have is the battery is not removable or user replaceable, but that is hardly a reason to discredit Dyson on what is otherwise a fantastic vacuum. If you are looking for the best cordless vacuum currently on the market, the Dyson V10 is the one to beat.

The Dyson Cyclone v10 Animal is truly a remarkable cordless high performance stick vacuum capable of cleaning your home from floor to ceiling to upholstery to every nook and cranny and obscure corner of your home you couldn't imagine cleaning. Taking the lead from the very capable v8 and becoming the flagship product in the Dyson cordless stick vacuum line up, the Cyclone v10 continues the Dyson signature crafted, and now iconic, stick design with motor driven brush head and vacuum motor handle. The v10 comes with an unrivaled feature set. It has three suction modes: base, powerful, and maximum. For most of your vacuuming needs the base suction is already plenty powerful as this is the mode you will use most often to get the most vacuuming time out of the battery. However, on those few occasions that you're feeling wild, rev up the v10 to maximum suction and the motor really comes alive, pumping out plenty of suction power with a no-dust-left-behind mentality. If that is still not enough suction for you, the ingenious engineers from Dyson added a switch at the torque drive cleaner head to adjust the amount of ambient air flow at the bottom of the cleaner head. Close the switch, which will cut off some of the air intake, and the suction becomes even more insanely powerful. If you open up the switch, the suction power becomes more manageable and allows larger particles to be vacuumed (think large dried particles like Cheerios). A second feature that the Dyson engineers have managed to eke out is to increase the battery life to allow up to an hour's worth of adrenaline filled, fade free vacuuming. This is like the holy grail for cordless vacuuming. This literally takes cordless vacuuming from being considered as a tool for quick spot cleaning to a serious whole home vacuum. Gone is the fear of running out of battery juice midway through your vacuuming. At the base setting, you will be able to complete the vacuuming on a single battery charge, with enough charge left over for you to vacuum your neighbor's home (just kidding). And last, but not least, the transparent dust canister is now even bigger, some 40% bigger, when compared with the v8 Animal vacuum. So how does the v10 perform? I ran it through hard, laminate, and tile flooring, carpets, and rugs. Vacuumed clumps of hair, dust filled corners of my home, picked up my kid's dried food crumbs from the dining room floors and even more food particles from the kitchen floor. After that I attached the crevice tool and lifted the dust and dirt from the baseboards. Then attached the mini soft dusting brush and went at it on my window blinds. Next, I felt adventurous and attached the mini motorized tool and vacuumed my sofas. Finally I used the combination tool and cleaned off whatever was left behind on counter tops and desks. The v10 cleaned everything effortlessly, all on a single charge of battery, and without once emptying the debris canister. If that isn't a whole home cordless vacuum, then I don't know what is. This is a high performance vacuum, but without the fuss of requiring high maintenance. The only maintenance you will need to do is empty out the debris bin before it gets full and to remember to clean the filter and rinse it with cold water once a month. Once you're all done vacuuming you can simply hang the vacuum up on the wall mount bracket which you will need to install on the wall with some dry wall screws and simple tools such as a drill and screwdriver. Plug in the ac adapter and power cord which will take up to 3.5 hours to fully recharge the battery and you'll be all set for your next vacuuming adventure. The battery meter is illuminated in blue color while it is charging Each battery bar will flash during recharging. It is fully charged when all three bars are no longer illuminated. During vacuuming, the three bars on the battery meter are illuminated to display remaining battery charge. Here are other things to take note: The motor noise at the base suction setting is quiet. It is quieter than my Dyson v7 Motorhead vacuum. I am always amazed at how the Dyson engineers continue to dampen the noise. If you live in an apartment and you're a night owl, you can literally vacuum in the middle of the night at the base setting and your neighbors will not hear you. The vacuum gets a little bit louder at the maximum suction setting, but not by much. It is still relatively quiet when compared to other brands' vacuums. It's not a marketing point anywhere on the box, but I think it is important to list the relatively quiet motor as a feature of the vacuum for those who are sensitive to noise. The vacuum weight is well balanced, but the motorhead will prove to be a bit on the heavy side for some folks. Because most of the weight is near the motorhead at the handle, during longer vacuuming sessions there may be fatigue in the hands and arms from moving the vacuum back and forth. The trigger on the handle to power on the vacuum is responsive to light pressure. No complaints about this. However, I do know that there have been requests to Dyson about including a trigger lock so that you don't always have to keep your finger on the trigger to maintain continuous operation of the vacuum. Well this hasn't been implemented on this iteration of the vacuum, and may never be included, but it is worth noting. Finally, Dyson provides a two year parts and labor warranty in the rare instance that something goes wrong with the vacuum. And get this, Dyson will pay for the shipping both ways for the warranty service. Now that is customer service! In summary, do I recommend the Dyson Cyclone v10 Animal? An unequivocal yes. This vacuum comes without compromises. The v10 has established it's mark as the cordless vacuum of choice for whole home floor to ceiling needs. It is powerful, versatile, has an industry leading 1 hour battery, and is effective at removing dust, hair, pet fur, and dry debris particles from all types of flooring and surfaces. The only thing holding the v10 back from being more ubiquitous in households is the high entry price point. The decision is ultimately yours depending on your budget and needs. Personally, after owning the v7 Motorhead and now the Cyclone v10, I can say that Dyson really designs the best vacuums out there.

I have been looking forward to trying the new Dyson Cyclone v10 Animal Stick vacuum for a while now as I'm sick of dragging my corded vacuum around the house, into the garage and to job sites. This vacuum does not disappoint, it's small, light and packs plenty of sucking power and options into its small stature. It's also super versatile and can be used as a standard upright vacuum for floors, as a handheld for the car or boat and also works as a long-reach handheld unit for reaching those tough spots like curtains, spider webs in the ceiling corners or around windows, etc. In the box you get the cordless vacuum, Torque Drive Cleaner Head, Mini Motorized Tool, Mini Soft Dusting Brush, Crevice Tool, a Combination Tool, AC adapter cord for charging the vacuum and a very convenient docking/charging station you can screw to the wall for easy storage. The vacuum is well packaged and is easy to assemble, it took me all of 5 minutes to unbox and setup. The battery comes with a 20% charge, but Dyson recommends a complete charge before use, so I connected the charger and left it overnight. The Dyson worked beyond expectations, we have 2,500 sqft. of living space with a combination of carpets, area rugs and hardwood floor…and it was up to the task on all surfaces. It's easy to maneuver with that expected Dyson "ball" feels, so getting into corners and maneuvering is a breeze. The weight isn't bad, about 5 pounds, I didn't really notice it while using. The fully charged battery lasted for somewhere around 40-50 minutes, switching between the 3 power settings..including MAX mode. As marketed the battery does stay strong right up to the point of running out….which was kind of a pro and a con. We also played with all of the included tools and did just about a whole car before the battery was exhausted. Swapping out the different tools is a "snap" and makes for getting every nook and cranny effortless. Pros: - Size/Weight - vacuum is very small and light which makes for easy handling and also getting it up and down stairs, for car/boat use and taking to job sites. - Power - this thing really sucks! In a good way of course! I used it all over my house and car and really never had to use the Max Power option to pick up dirt and dust. Very impressive for the size of the unit. - Battery Life - Dyson claims 60 minutes, and although I'm yet to get there, it's pretty darn close. It can easily handle our entire home with a single charge. - Versatility - Can be used in so many different ways, it's like having 3 or 4 different vacuums! It's sold as a "Pet" vacuum but it so much more, great for around the house, garage, etc. Cons: - Upright Position - The vacuum will NOT stand upright on its own, it needs to be leaned against something or clicked into the included storage/charging station. Mild "Con" but just want to set expectations that this is a stick vacuum and not an upright. - Dust Bin Emptying - So it appears that Dyson has changed the layout of this unit to increase the size of the Dust Bin. It is larger for sure, but you have to disconnect the accessories in order to empty the bin. Not a deal breaker in my opinion, but wanted to point it out. Also, the mechanism for opening the bin is a bit tricky, it took me a few tries before figuring it out initially. You really have to give it a good swipe to pop the top open. - Battery - A non-integrated battery setup would be a nice bonus, so you could have a backup ready to go. Dyson has stuck by their design of an integrated battery system, which some people deem a "con". All-in-all the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal Stick Vacuum is just what I was after in terms of size, performance and quality construction. I would certainly recommend this vacuum to friends with pets….or kids! It's easy to use and stores away easily.

This vacuum is very powerful and would recommend to anyone looking for something that will vacuum up the smallest particles. Having said that there is more and more competition in this segment so do your homework. Positives; Nicely packaged. Was easy to un-pack and put together Nice, thoughtful design and seems sturdily built Powered floor attachment is easy to dis-assemble to clean beater bar Nice powered furniture attachment is also easy to dis-assemble to clean its power bar. Normal array of un-powered secondary attachments Very easy to maneuver but that is no surprise given Dyson more or less was the first to use the “ball” design. VERY powerful vacuum motor with 3 power modes; High – using with powered floor attachment I got 11 minutes of run time. This is extremely powerful suction to the point I felt I could actually see the head lower when running. A tad difficult to maneuver on tile or carpet due to the extreme suction. Medium – using with powered floor attachment I got 27 minutes of run time. You could feel the difference between this and the “High” setting. Still very powerful suction but easier to maneuver. Low – using with powered floor attachment I got 40 minutes of run time. While this is the lowest suction setting it still is powerful and I think this would be used as your normal everyday setting. Again I could tell a difference from the other 2 settings. This was the easiest to maneuver while still providing excellent suction. There is also an adjustment on the floor attachment you can use to control some of the suction as well. Using this seemed to make some difference. I did not due a run time test using any of the non-powered attachments but would assume longer run time than 44 minutes due to not running the beater bar. Has HEPA filter but still surprised it picked up as much dirt as it did in areas I had recently vacuumed. Bag less design is easy to view and empty. Dust collection area is VERY large and you do have to disconnect the vacuum attachment to be able to empty. Filter is easily accessed and cleaned using water. It comes with a wall attachment you can use to hang and charge your unit. There is a power meter on each side of the handle indicating its amount of charge during charging or use. Negatives; 2 year warranty Somewhat heavy for my wife. Maybe adding a “top” handle would help (like a leaf blower). This would allow using holding it lower during use. Also no way to lock the button to run so you must keep it pushed it in. I found this very tiring so I wound up using a twist tie to keep it pressed which worked nicely. Due to its suction it was hard to use on our throw rugs as it just wanted to suck them up (eat). It can damage other finer carpets (mentioned in manual) too. A lower setting option might help or maybe add an area that can slide open/closed to help better adjust/control suction strength Battery took just over 3 hours to fully charge. Took me 2 days to do review as after each run I had to wait 3 hours for it to charge before running another test. This is pretty standard charging time but was hoping for shorter. Battery seems to be part of the power handle assembly. I could find no easy way to get to it if needing replacement or just wanting to exchange it for an extra charged battery when wanting to finish vacuuming. The power unit dust collection area is so large that trying to use in your car or in tight spaces is almost impossible as it is heavy and is hard to see where you are vacuuming. Overall a nice option with more and more competition……

It amazes me that somehow Dyson always finds a way to improve on their already top of the line products and that is still the case with the new Cyclone V10 cordless vacuum. At first sight, I was a little taken back on the size of the canister attached to the main unit and thought it doesn’t look very ergonomic. However, they seemed to have found the right balance and weight where you don’t notice the size once you start using it, almost as if it should have always been this size. I feel it has enough power to tackle most, if not all, normal floor options including hard floors, standard cut carpet and rugs. I was able to easily find use for all three of the adjustable power modes; MAX for hard floors, MAX or setting 2 for standard carpet and setting 1 for rugs so you don’t suck the rug up or lift it off the floor. The larger style spinning brush head was the perfect size for cleaning my carpeted stairs where the smaller cleaning brush heads are great for couches, cars, etc. One of the biggest improvements over some of the previous models is how long the battery lasts; according to the box, up to 60 minutes on a full charge. I used it for several days around the house without having to charge it so I haven’t actually timed the battery on a full charge as it’s surprisingly still running. As with all Dyson vacuums I have used, this one is very easy to clean and maintain by simply sliding off the clear canister and emptying the container. You slide the entire canister off and run water over it once a month to keep it clean and running in prime condition. After spending time with the vacuum and all the attachments it comes with, I could really justify replacing both a larger and heavier plug in style vacuum and a smaller car vacuum . It also comes with a 2 year Dyson warranty. All that being said, I believe all the benefits to this model will help the consumer avoid the initial sticker shock and justify it as an all-in-one vacuum that should last anyone for years to come.

I love stick vacs, but so many times the suction is just too anemic to pick anything up. I've owned and used Dyson vacuums and the one thing that's consistent with all of them is the amazing suction that they generate. The V10 is certainly no exception. First off, it's battery operated. This can make or break some vacuums really fast. I found the charge life to be adequate for running the vacuum at full power and getting to every room I needed to get to before it lost all power. It's quite light even with the floor beater bar attachment installed. The many tools can be interchanged quickly, and they are all well designed for a variety of tasks. The suction is absolutely incredible, especially for a battery powered vacuum this size. There are three levels of power so that you can actually control the amount of suction you need. At first I thought this was a bit of a gimmick because comparable vacuums don't exactly have power to spare. This switch however, does come in handy when going from hard floors, to carpets, to using a different attachment. When on the highest setting, the beater bar literally sucks itself onto the floor so firmly, it gets difficult to push. It has more suction than I can believe, and way more than any other stick vac I've ever used. Cleaning the beater bar is pretty quick and it actually has a way to remove the bar easily for removing any strings or long hair. The dirt cup empties very quickly and does a good job of removing all debris without digging around with your fingers to pull it out. There were a couple of points I wasn't crazy about however. The first is, you need to keep the trigger depressed the entire time you're using it. It does not click "on" and then click "off". This gets a little tedious and can become hard on the trigger finger. It also makes it difficult to switch hands without it turning off in the process. The second point is, I wish the battery itself was removable. That way I could hang the V10 anywhere I chose and charge the battery separately. As it is, you need to put the vacuum in the wall mounted charging station to charge it. This would be a nice feature if everyone had closets with outlets inside, or an area such as a mud room that was convenient to hang it in. I don't have either one, so finding a good place to hang it that has power and is also out of sight is tricky. Both cons aside, this is far and away the best stick vac I've owned or used. The suction was way stronger than I imagined it would be and it's light weight makes it easy to use in most of the places you would want to. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it does go beyond my expectations for a vacuum in this class.

The performance of the Dyson V10 (Animal Stick Vacuum) Stick Vacuum 2 is impressive, suction power better than many upright vacuums, it has the most suction of any cordless vacuum I have tried. Battery operation at maximum power around 20 minutes and about an hour at the low power setting. I have only tried out the Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum for a couple days as a stick vacuum and as a handheld vacuum trying to determine its role in cleaning the house. I have to say now that I don't think it will replace our Dyson DC07 upright for a some tasks but will take over others. When vacuuming the living room the dirt reservoir on the Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum has to be emptied six times while the Dyson DC07 only has to be emptied once. Because of that reason I think the Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum may not be a total replacement for an upright vacuum in a larger carpeted area like a living room but may aid vacuuming around and under furniture in a living room where the upright vacuum maybe a limited in maneuverability. On the other hand I think I am going to like the Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum in my home office, the sewing room and for the bedrooms where there is less area and even more complex furniture layouts. The same is true of using it as a hand vacuum with crevice tool, and upholstery attachment. Combined with its suction power, it will be a plus. If you had a modest apartment or largely hard floors or tile the Dyson V10 might serve as your only vacuum. Pros: Suction power, longer then previous battery life on a charge, and a useful set of attachments for use as a hand held vacuum and as a stick vacuum. Cons: Dirt reservoir not very large for some applications, Battery is not interchangeable, when the charge is exhausted the vacuum needs about 3.5 hours charge. The Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum is expensive. I like most aspects of then Dyson V10 and will recommend it to friends and family with the caveat that it is expensive. I gave the rating a lot of thought and cost and the lack of an exchangeable battery finally caused me to give a rating of four stars.

I recently received this vacuum to replace a Shark ION. I will base this review based on my Shark and my Dyson upright. First impressions were that this vacuum is well built and comfortable in the hand to use. Let me back up and tell you I have carpet on the second floor and steps and dark hardwood on the first floor. I also have two large golden retrievers and a cat that shed CONSTANTLY! When I first charged the vacuum based on the instructions I was eager to test it. This very first thing I noticed was there was no tangle in the brush role. Even after 5 vacuums since, the brush role is clear of any hair from my pets or my wife. My Shark needs cleaning with a razor knife almost every two days because it get so saturated with hair. I also noticed the battery lasts much longer than the Shark and it has quite a bit more suction. The charging is also much faster; ~3 hrs vs. ~5 hrs. The problem with the Shark ION is that as it fills with hair, it restricts the suction where as the Dyson does not, the hair is directed in a totally separate bin so it doesn't affect the airflow. The attachments are also everything you need to clean furniture, blinds, ceiling fans, and stairs. The Dyson has 3 power options and 3 suction options but does not have a brushroll speed option like the Shark. One feature I love about the Shark that the Dyson does not have is the LED lights on the brushroll. One might not think this is a big deal but when the lights are dim the lights enable you to see every hair that you might not have otherwise seen. Overall I love this and the Shark is headed to the garage or basement. My reason for deducting a star is the price and the lights. I think the price is too high but you could use this for your whole house if you wish. It goes over shag rugs, carpet and hardwood with no problem at all. The brushroll is not as wide as the upright but I think it does as good of job. If you have pets and are tired of cleaning brushrolls this is the vacuum for you!

I recall growing up and my grandmother having a vaccum cleaner that was so intimidating it made you not want to make a mess because you feared how easily it would be to notice we walked on her clean carpet. Those days it was a large clunky machine with a paper bag. This Dyson Animal cord-free is of the future that I bet my grandma dreamt about! I'm giddy about a vacuum and that's okay! Right? Overall this little guy is doing wonders. I have three dogs with short and prickly hair. You'll see my Frenchie here. In a matter of minutes and about five square feet the Dyson v10 collected hair I didn't even see on my tile. Again, grandma would be disappointed in me but proud of this machine. Set up of course as always was easy, and the attachments are so simple to switch out. Besides the large cleaner head, I absolutely love the mini motorized tool. It's a compact version of the cleaner head that I can use on my cloth car seats where a lot of dog hair accumulates but is hard to remove. This is why I repeatedly come back to Dyson because when I think they couldn't perfect something they go and add more power behind such a sleek tool. Right off the bat it revved up and gave me options on how strong the suction I wanted to use. THat comes in handy with my area rugs which have caused issues with other vacuums. The dogs and I are definitely fans of this Dyson (it cleans the areas they sit in and it is going to help with my allergies)! I can't imagine a large corded version of this Dyson! Go get this and surprise grandma, I think I am!

I have a fairly new, full-size Dyson upright Vac but found with having carpet, plus hard floors, plus a shedding cat along with my OCD to keep the pet hair at bay; pulling out the corded upright Vac was a constant chore. (Plus, I was always pulling the corded upright over on its side when using the attachments, constant frustration.) Last week I spotted this Dyson cordless V10 on sale at Amazon and read the glowing reviews. I prefer to buy electronics at Best Buy, so I contacted Best Buy customer service for a price match, purchased over the phone and received it from Best Buy in 2-days. Boy am I glad I did, It's powerful, light weight, very easy to use (and store) and I absolutely love it! (I installed the charging wall-mount inside a closet with an electrical outlet.) I've used it several times over the past few days on my 1500 sq ft single story house and I couldn't be happier with it's performance. ( Cyclone V10 Animal) No lugging the corded upright out of the closet and dragging the cord room to room, changing outlets. I just whip out this Dyson stick, and zip, zip, zip; get the floors, baseboards, nooks , crannies and furniture in no time, i'm done in a flash! Love, love love!! No problem with battery life, I use it mostly on medium.. AND.. another bonus is, I can use this V10 on it's lowest setting for memory foam bathroom rugs and it doesn't suck them up like my one-speed (upright corded Dyson) did. It's the little things that make keeping up with housework not such a chore. Thanks Dyson and Best Buy!

Great Suction...Could Be Better in Other Areas

The vacuum looks great. It is lightweight, making it easy to carry up/down stairs. It does a great job of vacuuming. It has the most powerful suction that I have ever seen in a cordless vacuum. Since it is cordless, it is very versatile to use on the stairs, and in your car. The dirt canister is a nice size and is easy to empty. The vacuum comes out of the package set to Maximum suction. When used on MAX, it only lasts about 10 minutes before losing its charge. For normal usage, I would recommend using the Regular suction setting where the battery lasts much longer. It does not have an ON/OFF switch. You have to pull and hold a trigger the entire time that you use the vacuum. If you are using the vacuum for a short period of time, it is not an issue, but your hand gets fatigued after holding the trigger for a long period of time when vacuuming a larger area. It will also be an issue if you suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel, or other hand issues. The head used to vacuum floors is a little narrow, so it takes some time to vacuum large areas. Also, the vacuum (with the floor head attached) will not stand up on its own. You must prop it up against something or lay it in the floor. It is the same way with charging the vacuum. If you do not use the included mounting bracket, you must prop it up against something or lay it in the floor to charge it. The mounting bracket attaches to the wall and the vacuum hangs off of the bracket. When the vacuum is hanging on the bracket, it sticks from the wall several inches. So, this makes it limited on where you can mount the bracket and it still look nice in your home. I chose to mount mine in the garage. The vacuum comes with several tool attachments, which is nice, but it would have been great if there was a storage bag that was included for the attachments that could be hung off of the wall mounting bracket. So, it is a little inconvenient to find another spot to store the extra tool attachments. Overall, the vacuum is OK. With just a few of the tweaks mentioned above, it would be great. It is lightweight, convenient, and has great suction. It is good for small vacuuming jobs. I mainly plan to use it to vacuum stairs, and our cars. But, I will continue using our other vacuum for the rest of the house.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am pleased to hear that you overall you are satisfied with the new Dyson Cyclone V10.

The Dyson range of cordless vacuum cleaners has a battery-enhancing trigger. Battery power is only on when the trigger is pushed – this means that the battery is only used for cleaning, and is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles.

A Dyson tool bag can also be purchased separately to safely store the extra attachments.

We would value the opportunity to address any questions or concerns in more detail. Please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com with your serial number, description of issue or concern and your contact information and we will be happy to help.

It was fantastic! Then the battery died in 6 mins

This thing is super cool! It comes in so handy and the suction is fantastic! BUT on maximum power, which to me, felt like the only way it truly stood apart from other vacuums, it died in a hair over 6 minutes. It takes over two hours to charge and then 6 minutes again... Lower power levels work fine but it just felt like any other stick vacuum on lower settings, so I might as well spend less if that’s the case. I’m returning it. I already bought two corded shark apex duo clean with zero m’s (one upright and a stick vac) to replace this for slightly more than this ONE cordless stick vac and we’re super happy with that purchase. I do miss the convenience of the cordless v10 for little spot clean ups here or there, but for an actual clean up day, forget this thing. Shoot, if it was only $200 I’d keep it! However, it’s not, it’s nearly $500. My house isn’t even that big. 2k square feet, all hard flooring with rugs in the bedrooms but it never even made it far enough to try it on the rugs. If you have a small area to clean or this thing is awesome! I used it to clean up the sawdust as I was installing the knobs in my kitchen and it was fantastic! It even makes a cool sound as the motor winds down. The washable filter is a super eco friendly feature I love but I just need more battery power. Keep working Dyson I’ll come back when it’s better... maybe.... Shark has been doing great things for a lower price for years.

Hi Joey, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal. I am happy to hear how innovative, convenient, and powerful you found this vacuum to be. Please keep in mind that your machine will offer three suction modes for use with cleaning around your home. Along with three different suction modes, you will also have a suction control slider at the cleaner head for use with cleaning across both hard floors and carpet. As a result, we would not expect you to require the MAX suction setting, as it is only intended for use with tough cleaning jobs and also provides the least amount of run time, while providing additional power for the job.

In suction setting 2 Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 20 minutes of run time with a motorized cleaner head or up to 30 minutes when used in suction setting 1. Without the motorized cleaner head, Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 60 minutes of run time on a full charge, making it our longest running cordless model to date.

While I understand you've since returned your purchase, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Best wishes,

    The Price Makes this Average

The Good: 1) The suction is on average with another (Black and Decker) stick-hybrid vac that I bought for $40. 2) For the most part it gets up most of the dust and mess from my floors. 3) I got the animal version because I have a small dog that sheds a lot, and needed the smaller motorized head to help collect animal fur. Cons: 1) With the "Point and shoot" approach to empty the collection bin, there are still a lot of dirt and hair trapped inside of the collection bin. 2) I have a small house (around 1,100 sq ft) and by the time I finish vacuuming just the floors, I barely have enough time to vacuum much else. 3) On the "Max" mode, you can only vacuum for five minutes before the battery is completely drained. This is unfortunate because max mode is where this stick vac is comparable to traditional up-right models. So you only have 5 minutes of true vacuum power. The Ugly: With no interchangeable battery, I find myself rushing to clean. I also find myself vacuuming floors, waiting for hours, and then vacuuming furniture. Bottom Line: If you have a small home, like to clean multiple items (floors, ceilings, cars, etc.), and don't mind waiting then this is an average vacuum. However, if your house is mostly carpet and or much larger than the average home, I would urge you to get an up-right. For the most part, if this vacuum was say around $250 price range, it would be a great vacuum, but with these limitations and pricing, this average is at or below average.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am pleased to hear you are satisfied with the suction.

The new Cyclone V10 is our longest running and most powerful cord-free to date. It has three different modes that provide different levels of suction and run time. The lowest mode, which runs for up to 60 minutes, is recommended for hard floors. The mid-mode is great for cleaning carpets and will give you about 20 minutes of run time with a motorized floor tool. The max mode has the lowest run time and should only be used for heavy duty jobs and removing dirt hidden deep in the carpet.

We know that suction is one of the most important aspects of performance for our owners. Extensive battery testing has shown us that batteries locked into the machine provide a more reliable electrical connection and provide stronger, more consistent power over time.

We would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience and address any questions or concerns you may have. Feel free to contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com and we will be happy to help.

Can't go wrong with this vac

This is truly a great little vac. I have a Siberian Husky and five cats. Use to have a Hoover canister vac because I needed the power to suck up all the fur and they didn't make these back then. Work has a Dyson upright so I'm familiar with the brand and think the one at work is the best vac I've ever used, including the whole-house built-in I had. My canister vac is soooo incredibly heavy, I decided to give this "stick" a try. I haven't regretted the decision. I know it's hard to improve on something that's great but two improvements might make it even better. 1. The option to purchase additional battery packs so one can be charging while I'm using the machine, maybe there is and I haven't seen anything about it (I use the MAX power a lot and have to wait until it recharges to finish my task), and 2. either a longer crevice tool or one that can extend further out. I find the unit gets in the way of getting the tool into tight spaces. Or maybe I can put the crevice tool onto the wand where the floor tool attaches - hmmmm. I'll have to give that a try next time. Happy Vacuuming!!

I have done a lot of research and if you don't have much in the way of hardwood floors this vacuum is for you. This is great for apartments where the living space is minimal. Otherwise you will be cleaning almost everyday different parts of the house. With that said you will be cleaning your house all the time because you will hate the fact you let your house get that dirty in the first place. Also is great on the go or doing other areas. I used the tools to clean my car and now my wife says car smells brand new again. Pros- - Battery last as advertised - Weight is light and easy to use - If placed conveniently in your home easy to grab - Versatile and makes cleaning the whole house easy - Bag-less and dumps inside of trashcan preventing dust to return to home - Easy to clean HEPA filter Cons- - Price - No Spare Battery (One provided does last and recharges in decent time) - High power drains battery quickly - Wall mount won't hold all the accessories Would I buy again or the next model to be released? I would buy again if I get longevity out of this one. I hope that by the time I need to buy another vacuum it is one like this that has improved battery life. Always could use a better battery no matter what brand you buy.

I am extremely glad I purchased this vacuum, I'm actually still excited every time I have to use it! This battery life depends on which of the 3 power settings you use. I generally run it on low and medium which gives me about 40 minutes of cleaning time. On high--which I rarely need to use except to get kitty litter out of the litter mat--it lasts for about 15 minutes. The only issue I had at first was the weight of the upper part of the unit. You have to press the power button the entire time you run the vacuum (which feels natural once you get used to it). At first I thought the handle (which includes the dust bin) was a bit heavy. But I got used to it really quickly and it's no longer a problem. I have a 1500 square foot house. It is mostly hardwood with one room that is carpeted. The dust bin will usually hold enough dirt for me to vacuum the whole house once before emptying (unless I'm delinquent on my housework -- then I may need to empty once during the cleaning). The vacuum comes with a mounting station that you can attach to the wall. I haven't done this yet but the instructions look clear and simple. Overall this machine is great! I am thrilled with the purchase. Vacuuming doesn't feel like such a chore when I don't have to deal with that pesky cord!

Has been over 3 years since I’ve purchased a new vacuum. Last one being a corded. Having a cordless vacuum makes vacuuming much easier and convenient. With the Dyson 10 I can vacuum spots now that before we’re very hard to reach with improved and makes the apartment so much cleaner. The suction of the Dyson is extremely powerful no matter if it’s carpet or hard surface suction stays consistent. We keep on the high setting usually. Attachment are very simple to put on, noise level is less then what I expected. Not traditional loud sounding vacuum. Love how you can just grab it and go when you need to and my wife loves how lightweight it feels. We keep it in the charging cradle when not in use which means that it’s always at 100% when needed and the bracket is very simple to set up, just drill 1/4” initial holes (2) and your done. I used a stud finder and installed it near my fire extinguisher. It’s my first Dyson but I feel that after this it’s gonna be hard going to another brand or even back to corded again.

I was very excited to get a cordless vacuum that I could bring out, do some cleaning, and put away with no cords and no fuss. I honestly do love the new design of the waste bin, the motor, the attachments etc. But then you get to the run time. The glorious 60 minute run time that is advertised everywhere. I had my doubts going in because of the size of the battery. I also knew there would not necessarily be a full 60 minutes because of the various power level settings. I never expected for the run time to go from an advertised 60 minutes down to 10 minutes or less when you run it on "high". To me, the lowest power setting is not worth running because unless you're picking up a single animal hair or feather, you're not getting things clean. The medium power setting is okay when you have some light dust or dog hair on the ground. The high setting is what you want to run a vacuum at. It has the level of suction I would expect from a stick vac. But then you get 10 minutes or less run time after a 3.5 hour plus charge. No thank you. This is going back this weekend. I'll stick to my corded vacuum that has the power I need.

Had this unit for about 90 days, Used maybe a dozen times or so. The canister now slides completely off? Called Dyson and was told I probably got a lemon, upon further discussion with a rep (A supervisor), I found out there is an issue with a plastic lip that easily breaks when emptying the canister, she was looking at one with the same issue. I asked her if she could look at the V-11, she did and stated that the tab is thicker. So I guess I have to pay more $ to get the V-11 without the flaw?? They are sending out another body with the same lip. This seems to be a design flaw! I wish I never purchased this thing. 20 year Dyson customer. This will be my last Dyson.
