I ended up returning it. The different fan settings are all pretty similar, in that they are all pretty low.

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I am sorry to read your review and learn how disappointed you are in your Dyson Pure Cool air purifier and fan. Dyson Pure Cool features a HEPA filter to remove 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust, mold spores, bacteria and pet dander. The second layer in the filter contains activated carbon to capture household odors and volatile organic compounds like paint fumes. The machine also features a sleep timer, oscillation and 10 air speed settings.

We have limited airflow in our space and needed a purifier/fan to alleviate kitchen smells and move the air around. This Dyson has so far done the trick. One note is that the magnetized remote never seems weak (at best) when sticking the remote to the top of the fan, but we keep the remote on a side table anyways. Happy enough, and glad to know the filter is supposed to last up to a year based on 12hrs/day use.
