The humming noise you describe can be common if you're using your machine in auto mode as the continuous monitoring does ensure the motor of the machine remains on, to kick in should air quality levels dip. Get a $20 box fan nothing but expensive

My wife dyson hairdryer that costed $600 blows more air then this actual fan.

The Dyson Pure Cool Tower TP01 air purifier will feature adjustable airflow settings ranging from 1-10, and an oscillation range of 180 degrees, which helps project purified air around the whole room.
