Machine makes a terrible humming sound when used in auto made. I've had the motor replaced once under warranty. Contacted Dyson about the repeat problem and their suggestion solution was to provide me a refurbished HP04 which is half the cost of this model.

The Dyson Purifier Hot + Cool Formaldehyde HP09 is an efficient air purifier and heater/cooler all in one. It is expensive, but this stylish device can remove dust, allergens, and formaldehyde from the air in your home, while also regulating temperature, making it a worthwhile buy for those concerned about indoor air pollution. The pros are quickly warms – or cools – a room, slick remote control that magnetically attached to the unit, a nice LCD panel. The cons bulky, expensive, can be slightly on the load side when heating, but not enough to annoy. I am happy with the purchase, would buy again and would recommend the Dyson Purifier Hot + Cool Formaldehyde HP09.

Stylish product that can be used in any room

The Dyson Purifier Hot plus Cool (with formaldehyde removal) is a stylish addition to any room where you want cleaner air. Unpacking the unit reveals a product that, to me, is functional art; the lines are sleek and futuristic, and it's clear the machine can be added to almost any room without looking out of place. The only assembly required is the addition of the filters, and then it's just a matter of plugging the machine into a socket, and then installing/pairing the app. The whole setup takes about 10 minutes. Once the setup is complete, the purifier can be controlled via the remote or the app. The small LCD screen on the purifier allows you to monitor the overall indoor Air Quality Index, particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns, particulate matter smaller than 10 microns, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and nitrogen dioxide. You can also see the humidity as well as temperature and filter life. All of these metrics are also available via the app. There are 10 speeds for the fan, or you can set the fan to 'auto' and allow the purifier to adjust the speed as needed. The base of the unit allows you to tilt the main portion backward or forward so you can direct air down toward the ground or up toward the ceiling. The unit also oscillates from 0 to 350 degrees, and the air can be redirected out of the back if desired. I have used the heating function a few times and it seems to work well, although I'm not sure how much I'll need it. The product has a timer function, but I haven't used it, instead choosing to just let it run on auto. Occasionally, when cooking mostly, the fan speed will increase as the LCD shows a decrease in air quality from good to fair. The fan speed will decrease as the level of air quality improves. I did have a problem today where the VOCs rose and never came down. I had to call support and wound up having to reset the machine to fix the problem; evidently the VOC sensor 'got stuck'. I was told that this sometimes happens if a sensor gets 'blocked or clogged' but that it was rare with new machines... so hopefully this was just a fluke. I also had trouble reconnecting the app to the machine after the reset, which turned out to be a slight pain. I had to unlink the from the app and then it took me about 20 mins to figure out that when resetting the machine, the WiFi had turned off, so I had to turn it back on manually (hold the power button for 5 secs). Other than those two hiccups, the purifier has been working non-stop for 3-4 days and I'm quite pleased with the performance as well as the detailed information it provides on the air quality. Only time will tell if the sensors hold up, but the product does have a 2 year warranty, which is nice.

This is my first Dyson anything and was eager to get my hands on it. I wanted to see for myself if all the hype is deserved or just flashy marketing. Well the old saying of “you get what you pay for” is for sure true in this case.
This is a high-end luxury to be sure and there are other purifiers out there that are good if you just can’t or won’t pull the trigger on a Dyson but Dyson’s technology, software, app overall construction quality are by far the best in class.
When the pandemic hit, I wanted to be prepared and bought entry level air purifies (about a $100 a unit) that killed viruses. As the purifiers dutifully did their work, I noticed that there seemed to be less dust in the house. I really developed a new appreciation for how beneficial cleaning the air in your house is. But there was really no way to know for sure just how well the entry level units were doing as they had no tech to do so. So, I upgraded to a smarter unit. The Molekule was my next stop. A big improvement over the entry level units I had to be sure. But it doesn't hit in the same weight class as the Dyson as far as features (the hot air, diffuse mode and remote ect) . The Molekule also provided some feedback on air-quality which reaffirmed my antidotal evidence from my observations that good purifiers designed to operate within the room size makes a difference. Looking back at all the air-purifiers in my house…I understand I am obsessed. But other than your place of work (where I also have a purifier) , your home is where you spend hours living, sleeping and playing. Why would you not want the cleanest air you can get going into you and your family’s lungs! Think about all the dust on your shelves…That goes into your lungs as well!
That brings me to the PINNACLE of my quest for verifiable clean air…The Dyson Hot+Cold Formaldehyde! There is none better. Where to start… I guess the wow factor hit me right out of the gate. How does it get the air blowing so fast without a fan while being so quiet? And then… with a push of the remote control or the app on my phone, it switched to hot air from cool air!!! 99 degrees of heat!!! So useful!! The circular design of the filter lets it take in the air from all around it and then quietly send it through the room to your lungs. Hot or cold! You can have it static or rotate 90, 180 or 350 degrees as it oscillates. The filters are a snap to put in both literally and figuratively. I also like that it has a diffused mode that lets the air go out the back away from you if you don’t want it blowing directly on you but still purifies the air. In the colder moths a direct breeze all the time sucks. Ahh the little things. Dyson covers all the bases.
I also really love the LCD screen and how I can see in real time the air quality on the unit itself without having to get my phone out and look at the app. The Dyson is also very quick interfacing with the app and doesn't drop on my network. Very Stable. I put it by the back door (which is not the recommended place to put it by the way) and opened the door just to see the air quality change. So cool. The app is well designed and mirrors the functionality of the remote control. You have to point the remote directly at the LCD. It’s line of sight which might be tricky if your in bed and the unit isn’t line of sight but you also tell, Siri or Alexa or google to turn it off as well. I can’t decide if I am going to keep it in my bedroom or the master bathroom (since the heat feature would be nice out of the shower) and buy another one for my bedroom. It has a sleep mode to that puts it into super quiet mode which makes it perfect for the bedroom.
I wish they had another color than the rose gold. Wife loves it though.
Overall, there is not a better air-purifier on the market plain and simple! I would highly recommend doing you and your family’s health a favor and invest in this unit. It truly is an worthwhile investment with a lot of swagger!

The best I've experienced

As a dog/cat owner with allergies, I've always been interested in air cleaner/filter technologies. Unfortunately, most of the products I've tried have ended up on the trash heap for either not working as described, too noisy, or the product not supported/parts/filters not available. Now, along comes Dyson.
I'm not going to quote all the product specs and features, if you're reading this, I'm sure you've checked them already. Instead, I'll talk about my experiences over the past 5 days with it.
I've attached two graphs from the Dyson app. As we're currently in the midst of a banner pollen season, I first set this up in the bedroom, as I've been having congestion problems at night. It was running in Auto mode for about 2 hours, I had stepped out for groceries when my wife called and said the Dyson had gone into high speed mode by itself. If you look at the first graph, that's represented by the tall spike. After speaking with my wife, I found that my two dogs had been tussling in the room throwing out their hair & dander. The Dyson detected that and started cleanup.
There's a second smaller spike on that first graph, that happened when my daughter started polishing her nails 50 feet away in another room.
The nice thing is with these two events, you can zero in to see what caused the event. The Dyson reported that the first was for particulate matter (dog dander), and the second was for VOC, or volatile organic compound (nail polish.) So that was my first day using the Dyson - two problems, both handled.
The second graph is from 2 days later. I had moved the unit down to our tamily room, and was watching TV when I noticed the Dyson had gone into high speed mode again. Took me a few moments to realize that I had just been outside mowing the lawn, and using a leaf blower to blow a load of tree pollen off the patio. When I was finished, I had come in through the patio door, I'm sure dragging in a bunch of pollen that was still suspended in the air. When I checked into the details on the app, the Dyson was responding to particulate matter (pollen).
I'm extremely pleased with the performance of this unit so far; this is the first time that I can actually say that I feel a difference in the environment after running it for the past week.
If I had a complaint, it would be that given the initial purchase cost, it would've been nice to offer a more substantial warranty, say 5 years. That, and I really don't see the need to include a heater function, deleting that might lower the cost.

My kids have allergies and I was worried there may be something circulating in the house causing their allergies to flare up. Upon setting it up (which was super easy) the screen displayed the current air quality which wasn’t terrible but not great either. Within an hour we went from yellow to green and after using this for about a month now I have noticed the persistent cough they have had for the last 2 months has subsided drastically. We live in FL so the cooling feature is really nice too and it is super quiet. This is only my experience and is purely anecdotal, but for us this was 100% worth every penny. We love it!

It does a great job of keeping the air clean while also being pretty quiet. It will ramp up if it detects dirty air, and then it auto adjusts the speed as it cleans. The heat function is also pretty solid and does a good job.

We bought this heating/cooling/air purifying Dyson for a Tiny House that we have on our property. In the interim, we decided to use it in our motor home because our motorhome heating is so loud. We were amazed at how quickly this little device heated the motorhome. We ran it on a low fan and about 68 degrees (it was 45 outside) and our motorhome stayed very warm and cozy. We love this so much we bought another one for our law office. It heats our entire front area effortlessly. Our legal assistant loves it!

I moved to Florida this summer and i needed an extra boost of cool air to get me through the hottest days. The central air just needed a little help. This fid the trick. It not only purifies my air but keeps me cool. I love it so much and it was easy to set up and to operate too. It comes with a little remote which is also easy yo use. You can also set it up with ease on the Dyson app on your phone. I would recommend this to everyone and it’s worth every penny.

We originally planned to go with a lesser air purifier, but decided to upgrade to a more comprehensive system with this Dyson. We're already noticing less dust, which makes us feel better about the air we're breathing. This unit is high quality and very quiet. The remote is compact, sturdy, and cat-resistant.

Dysons newest addition to the air purifier family includes a claim to eliminate Formaldehyde which is apparently more dangerous than I thought. I had to do some research on where it comes from and how it gets in your home. It comes from furniture and other products and takes about 2 years to dissipate from your home. Having 2 kids at home I think it’s important to make sure they’re not breathing in any random chemicals if I can help it.
As a previous owner of a DysonTP04 and several Dyson vacuums I knew that Dyson was the real deal. I am not disappointed in this machine either. Though this machine is much smaller than the TP-04 it still packs a punch. You can see how fast this machine works when you cook something in your house like bacon or beef, it shows the graph of how much is still in your home or the vicinity of the purifier as it slowly sucks the smell and chemicals out of the air. The HP09 does not move enough air as the TP04.
This HP09 also heats, which is an awesome feature. It’s summer here so I have no use for a heat feature but I did turn it on to try it out. The heat setting seemed to be not very powerful but my guess is it’s not supposed to be used to heat an entire room only to circulate warm purified air. I wouldn’t buy this machine as a standalone heater however, I don’t think the output is high enough to justify it.
This model as with all Dyson models seems to be over engineered and looks incredible. You have rose gold/bronze looking grates as well as the remote that goes with the normal gloss white that Dyson uses. It comes with a 2 year factory warranty that from my experience is awesome whenever something goes wrong with your product. The company definitely backs their products. On top of oscillating back and forth all the way up to 350 degrees it also leans backwards and forwards a slight bit to aim the air upwards or downward.
The app that you use with this machine is the same as all the others. It works well and you can use it from anywhere. Really convenient. The only thing that you cannot do on the app is to turn on the heat or monitor temperature. Apparently there are some government restrictions on it that pops up when you try. Not sure why. It has an option to monitor your air quality continuously to make the data available at all times. You can also schedule your machine to turn on and off on a 7 day schedule. The app is impressive. There are siri and alexa options inside the app that allows you to record phrases to activate your machine.
The HP09 is good to go. If you’re concerned about off-gassing of formaldehyde or VOC’s or pollen, this is a good machine for you. The heat feature should be treated as just a warming air feature, not as a space heater. Other than that it’s worth the investment.

I love this device❤️. I have gone solar over the past 4 yrs. I also installed solar batteries this year and a gas back up generator. The Dyson devise I purchased allows me to get further away from fossil fuels. I do not need to turn on my oil furnace for heat. It has allowed me to move to my goal of getting off the grid completely with in reach. This device because of the settings are available to be mindful of being environmentally conscious to use this device to be comfortable and environmentally conscious.

The HP09 works great in an area that often needs heat in the winter. The remote and app work well. For safety reasons, the HP09 cannot be set to automatically start heating using the scheduler. I understand this, but my complaint is that the HP09 actually does start up, just set to a very low temperature. Since the device does not actually cool anything, other than by convection, this is not a big problem. But I find I have to reset the temperature to a heating level. I did notice that with the HP09 plugged into a switchable outlet, I can turn it off at night. Then when I return in the morning, I turn on the wall switch and then the HP09 main switch, and the device comes on heating. I wish the device had a schedular feature to turn off at a specific time without a time to turn on. Then I could just use the Dyson on/off switch to restart heating, no temp adjustment required.
