Dyson always makes incredible and innovative products, but this one stands out. The original Supersonic was great and worked fantastically. This one does even better. It's smaller, lighter, quieter, and more ergonomically designed. There are five included attachments for every type and style of hair imaginable. No matter what your specific need or desire is for your hair, this dryer will do it well and do it fast without overheating your hair. I don't understand the technology, but it's there. It has four different temperature settings, including the Cold Shot that deactivates the heating element to set your hair. The included attachments when placed on the dryer each have their own programmed settings to optimize the performance of the dryer/attachment combo. You can then customize these settings on your own, if necessary. No matter what hair-drying system you currently use, this one is better. Dyson also gives you a two year warranty to back up their product. My ONLY complaint is that there is not a case or bag included to hold the attachments. This is a small addition they could have easily provided, but it doesn't take away from how amazing this thing works!

In the box is the dryer with power cord, attachments (powerful air attachment, pro concentrator, diffuser, wide-tooth comb and flyaway attachment, instructional manual. First Impression - This dryer is WAY lighter than all of my previous Dyson hair dryers and I can’t wait to see how fast it drys my hair. Disclaimer - I have 3B hair with daughters with 3C and 4A hair. My husband also uses the Dyson dryers and he has 3A type hair. We own all of the Gray/Pink Dyson Dryer, the Dyson Airwrap and the Turquoise Dyson. I also want to add that I have pain in my wrists and hands after I am done with styling my hair although all of my Dyson products assist with getting my hair done quicker. Dryer - Just a little note, the cord is same length as all of the other dryers. The handle is super lightweight and and still as powerful as all of the other dryers. I say this because I went ahead with the setting of the comb when I attached it and turned it on and the dryer was super hot pretty quickly. I definitely turned it down to medium and it immediately got cooler and then just to try, I turned to low and it did take about a few seconds to cool down but it definitely cooled down. At this time I am wearing my hair straight and the drying with this dryer definitely made my flat ironing (with my Dyson flat iron) even faster. It normally takes me 30 minutes to dry and 45 minutes to flat iron (I have really thick long hair). The drying still took me about 30 minutes because I dried straight from the shower without towel drying. The flat ironing was a little quicker because I didn’t have to pass through as much. I barely had any pain once I was completely done styling my hair. I do want to mention that I did touch the buttons once and turned off the dryer but I repositioned my hand further down the dryer and didn’t turn it off anymore. The attachments are the same as the previous dryers, except there is a symbol where the attachment connects to the dryer and the comb have a different design. I was a little worried about the spinning comb attachment but it was very handy when I switched one side of my head to other and front to back. I would like to add that this is definitely going to be my new travel dryer but I do wish that the dryer came with a travel bag or case. Overall, I love this new Dyson dryer and I would highly recommend it to friends and family because it’s so much lighter than the previous versions.

I’m going to start out by stating the obvious. Dyson products tend to carry pretty hefty price tags but there’s a good reason for that. Dyson products also deliver quality, and the Supersonic R is no exception to that. Two things that jumped out right away with this hairdryer are that one it was lighter weight than many I’ve used and then shape of it. Both of these factors jumped out at me right away as being hugely impressive and helpful. I’ve used hairdryers that are way too heavy and cause fatigue when all you want to do is finish drying your hair. I have very thick hair, which is great except that it takes forever to dry. But when you combine how lightweight the Dyson is, the ergomic shape of it (which reduces fatigue), and the power you expect from a Dyson product, you’re left with a pretty awesome hairdryer. It’s super easy and intuitive to use. Nothing confusing or over the top as far as functionality. It does what you want to do and it does it very well. The temperature settings were perfect for me, hot, but not too hot. And I like that you can attach everything magnetically, I felt like that was a nice touch and went with the overall quality of the product. Overall, I have no complaints and am incredibly happy with this product.

Good hair dryer, but not for my hair type. Probably better for people with curly hair.

I have had the Dyson supersonic for a little over a week. The Dyson came with multiple different “intelligent attachments” as they’re called. They are all preprogrammed to a specific temperature and airflow for optimal perfomance but can also be adjusted by you. The purpose of each intelligent attachment was also clearly explained. I have used the Powerful air attachment for quick hair drying when my hair is mostly wet. My hair is medium length and very thick so it usually takes a long time to dry my hair and I let it air dry as long as possible for this reason. The Dyson was able to dry it very quickly, less then 10 minutes and was not left damp at all. I have mostly used the Pro concentrator intelligent attachment that focuses the air as I use a round brush to dry and style my hair. With both attachments the Dyson supersonic is the quietest hair dryer I have ever used. My husband didn’t even know I was drying my hair the first time I went to use it. Though it is blowing hot air it does not feel hot on your neck or scalp as it does with normal hair dryers. But you do need to remember that the attachments get hot since the air is blowing through them. So be mindful if you are changing attachments during your blow drying process. Besides the lack of extreme heat and the quiet nature one of the biggest differences I have noticed is that my hair is smoother after I blow dry it and it lasts. I feel that my hair is less frizzy day to day between washes when have used the Dyson supersonic.

I purchased this at the Parker store this afternoon. When I got home , I unpacked it and tried to turn it on. It lights up for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. I called Dyson and was ultimately told it would have to be sent in for repair or returned to the store. I elected to return it to the store. $615.00 and dead out of the box, what a piece of over-engineered junk.

TL;DR: This is the best performing hairdryer I've used EVER. My family has a mix of hair types and the Dyson can handle them all. But for the price, and Dyson's reputation at UI/UX, I would have expected a simple accessories bag or case, and the power brick is clunky and puts a strain on the power cord that I'm concerned about over the long term. The Dyson comes with an impressive array of accessories to match any and all hair types. The included instructions have a very easy to use QR code for styling videos and tips on how to effectively use the accessories for all hair types and styles. The controls are very easy to use and understand, and the Dyson's power and control is truly unmatched. It's amazing how so much air handling can come from the tiny handle. The Dyson can produce a very focused stream of air, with very wide variation in temperature to allow for almost any styling choice or need. The accessories are magnetically attached with strong magnets, yet are easy enough to remove with a firm, hard tug. They're also RFID or some other type of coded so the dryer knows what accessory is attached and will automatically adjust to ideal performance settings. The negatives that kept me from rating this higher are the two baffling UI/UX choices from Dyson, a company that prides itself on UI/UX. First, for a nearly $600 device that includes an additional 5 accessories doesn't include some type of carrying case or bag to organize them is inexcusable poor user experience. Even cheap drug store hair dryers include a bag to hold the accessories. Second, and more troubling, is the AC/DC components are in a power brick attached to the power cord approximately 20 inches from the actual GFCI plug that goes into the outlet. 20 inches is long enough to accommodate the brick sitting on my bathroom counter, but that's one more thing to take up space and I'm also concerned about water or wetness getting on it. If your counter is more than 20 inches from where your plug is, it'll also dangle and is pretty heavy. Again, poor UI/UX design - at least let me know it's safe to get wet or provide some innovative way to attach or support the power brick.

This hair dryer has a beautiful design. Love the shape. The pink tone is really pretty. The packaging is top notch. I love nice packaging on my products. Everything can actually fit back in the box if you want to use it for storing after use. The attachments all work very well. They attach magnetically. The magnet is strong, so attachments don’t fall off during use. I love the feature where the device shuts off if the attachment comes off or is pulled off. No need to have to turn it off. This was a well thought out feature. The two attachments I will use the most are the comb and the attachment for simply blow drying my hair. The cons: One thing that I did find awkward is the way the handle is shaped when using the comb attachment. Because of the bend, it was a little awkward to use. Another con is: the cord is heavy duty and the part attached to it, can’t think of the name, but it’s a brick like piece. It makes the dryer heavy because it’s extra weight. I think the cord needed to be longer to avoid this problem. That piece needs to be able to sit on a table or floor so you don’t feel the weight when using the dryer. With it just hanging, it’s added weight. Pros: dried hair very quickly and evenly. Temperature settings are excellent. Beautiful design. Overall I am enjoying this hair dryer, aside from the cord issue, it is nice and light. I think it should last a while. I highly recommend it. Great job Dyson!!
