This Air Purifer Saved My Bird's Life

This is a wonderful product, I know that this air purifier does it's job well. It's lightweight and has a cool looking design to it. We love it, here's our story:
One day in November of 2019, we decided to clean our kitchen really well. We pulled out the stove and cleaned underneath and behind it. We put the stove back, finished our cleaning and left the house for a few hours. We figured to check on the air quality remotely via the Dyson App because we used some cleaning supplies and we didn't want our bird to breathe in the fumes. We saw that the air quality wasn't so good, so we set the Dyson to automatic. Unbeknownst to us, when we pulled out our stove, apparently we moved the gas hose and exposed this gigantic hole in the hose that had been there since we moved in. When we got home, the whole house smelled of gas. The first thing we went to do was to open the windows and check on our bird, Caju. It turns out that the Dyson was on full blast, cleaning the air and Caju was just fine. Without the Dyson, our story would have had a sad and tragic ending. Thank you Dyson for making a good product!

This fan is such a “set it and forget it” appliance that I never knew I needed. I unboxed, set to auto, set up where I wanted it to oscillate and how many degrees and then bam it’s goes about its day. I have been breathing much better since we got it and when I want a fan I can just go in the app and turn it off auto and also in the app point it where I want it to turn. It’s so awesome!

Very good purifier and fan. Paired with the app, you can easily control this from hundreds of miles away with your phone. As someone with allergies, I don’t wake up as stuffy since purchasing one for my bedroom. Definitely a solid product and worth the investment.
As a heads up, it’s mostly made of plastic and light components; the heaviest parts are actually the filters themselves. The screen is also super helpful and you can manually change the display via the remote or the app.

This purifies the air very well, I've watched it have a toxin introduced to it and it immediately picks up on that and starts clearing the air for me. It also has a nice looking design and is very sleek and fits in well in any space. It's not too large and it puts off nice air flow to keep the room comfortable.

Awesome Air Purifier and a Good Fan

The TP04 is good and fan and a great air purifier. It’s introduced a whole new level of awareness in my home about the air quality and things that affect it. It’s expensive to be sure and whether it’s worth the cost is up to you, but I’ve found nothing to fault about it in the time I’ve used it.
A little background on my environment; I live in a townhouse and no one in my home suffers from allergies or anything like that. We have a dog and a fair amount of kitchen appliances on our first floor, which is a fairly open space and the place where I chose to place the fan. We’ve never really been concerned about the air quality in our home, so I was curious to see what adding the TP04 to our living room would do.
Opening the box and putting the fan together was pretty simple. You get the fan, a small remote, a power adapter, and the carbon/glass filters. The only real assembly was removing the filters from their packaging and putting them on the base of the fan. I did notice that the power adapter is on the chunky side, so if you’re plugging this in to a power strip it’ll probably end up covering up the adjacent outlets. The fan stands at about 42 inches tall and the circular base is 9 inches wide. There aren’t any controls on the fan itself besides the power button. There’s a small LCD display that shows information, but all of the controls is done via the small remote or the Dyson app. After I got the fan plugged in I downloaded the app and connected the fan to my WiFi network. The setup was very straightforward and I didn’t have any issues getting connected. The Dyson Link app is easy to navigate and worked well on both iOS and Android (iPhone 7 and Pixel 2, specifically). The remote is very small and it’s easy use. I could see it potentially getting lost someday, but I like it.
Turning on the fan for the first time, I was given an air quality rating of ‘Very Poor’ in the app based on what the onboard sensors in the fan read. It detects and displays PM10/2.5, VOC, NO2, temperature, and humidity in the app and the overall air quality rating takes all of these measurements into its calculation.
I mainly saw high levels of PM10 when I initially turned on the fan. After leaving the fan on auto overnight my air quality rating was upgraded to ‘Good’, which is the best air quality rating the fan will show. This made me look at things in my house that could be bringing the air quality down. I replaced the vent filter in my hallway and the filters in my furnace, which were both long overdue and now have reminders to do that more regularly. Being able to see the air quality in real time also shows how things like cooking food and burning candles can bring down affect it. I can’t say that it’s really changed our behaviors all that much, but I appreciate the awareness it brings us and it generally doesn’t take very long to get the air quality back where it should be if something brings it down.
As a fan the TP04 also works very well too. It puts out about as much air as a normal box fan with at about half the volume. It also oscillates nearly up to 360 degrees. At maximum fan speed you can definitely hear it, but at half speed or lower it’s not noticeable at all. I’m not sure if it has to do with the vertical slits, but the way the air comes out it doesn’t disturb anything on my coffee table, which is a nice plus. You can also control the flow of the air on the remote and in the app if it’s cold and you just want it to run as a purifier.
Overall I have nothing bad to say about the TP04. It’s an excellent air purifier that gives you a ton of information about your environment and it’s also a good fan. The cost is going to be a major hurdle for most people, but if you know why you’re buying it I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Best purchase of the year considering we had the worst air quality this year due to fires all around us in addition to allergy season. We needed this to filter our indoor air. We had our A/C on from March til now and noticed since I’ve purchased this theres been a huge improvement in my bulldogs breathing and health also my husband and I are sleeping through the night without waking up to blow our noses. I will be purchasing a few more for every room.

The real deal. Decided to purchase the Dyson as we needed to replace our old tower fan, and needed an air purifier as our allergies are terrible. Build Quality is excellent. It’s lighter than I thought it would be. The fan itself is not that strong but gets the job done. The actual purifier can be very aggressive at times, I find myself cutting it off if we have a candle lit, or a plug-in fragrance, and if it’s on auto mode it will quickly absorb the fragrance. To avoid this I just cut it off, or manually adjust the speed to low. I love the Wi-Fi capability and that I can control it from anywhere. Majority of the time I leave it on auto mode, and it will sense when it needs to purify the air. Overall is a great purchase, our allergies are much improved, and although it’s pricey it does a great job. We will definitely get more in the future.

Great purchase!
Only thing i don't like is it freaks out when I'm cooking. So most the time I'm cooking i just turn it off first.
Definitely expensive for what it does, as long as it continues to last as long as it has it'll be worth it.

The fan keeps me cool and is fairly quiet but the best part was the air filter. It’s been a bad year for allergies and I couldn’t sit in my living room and watch TV without running to get my inhaler and my asthma meds. With the fan running near me I feel like I’ve been given my life back. Very happy with my purchase and the curbside pickup at Best Buy made it so much easier.

Innovation and style with improved performance

Once again Dyson continues to set the bar for innovation and style with it’s latest Pure Cool Tower Air Purifier fan. The details they continue to add to their products really keep me coming back. One of the biggest improvements from the previous model I owned is the option to change the airflow direction so it can still purify the air without blowing air forward. This option is great if you don’t want cold air blowing in the space but was the air cleaned, perhaps during the colder seasons. The information menu on the display as well as the Dyson app is intuitive as it will monitor the fan’s performance and access information about the pollutants in the air, temperature and humidity levels. The fan relies on glass HEPA filters and carbon filters to thoroughly filter the air. The auto mode is convenient if you have it in a living space for purifying as it will adjust the setting according to the quality of the air in that space. Night mode, which you can set to run for a set amount of time, dims the display and also makes the fan less noisy, which it’s generally pretty quiet anyways since it doesn’t rely on fan blades that chop the air. They’ve also upgraded the oscillation feature where you can tell it to what degree you want the fan to rotate. The fan was fairly simple to sync to the Dyson Link app via my smartphone and was also easy to set up the skill to sync it with other third party voice activated peripherals and can be turned off/on by asking Dyson to start/stop air purification, set speed, ask for the indoor air quality, etc.. Yes, I know, the sticker shock… that aside, there really is no comparison in the floor stand fan/purifier market and in the long run I think it’s worth every penny.

I was skeptical about air purifiers, we don't wear shoes inside, we vacuum and dust our house weekly, so air should be pretty clean, right? But when we got this purifier I was surprised! Initially it reported indoor air quality as GOOD and was doing pretty much nothing (that is what I expected) but dinner time rolled in and my wife started searing some onions for the recipe. Dyson air purifier immediately (within a couple of minutes) detected that air quality degraded (smell of fried onion!) and came to life, started doing it's job. We used to that cooking smells typically fill up the whole house, but to my surprise Dyson purifier was able to contain the smell within kitchen-living room area and was done in about 2 hours. No cooking smells in every room anymore!
It's not just the cooking smells it can remove though, it's indicators show overall air quality and levels of: 10 micron particles (like dust or pollen), 2.5 micron particles (smoke), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC, like paint fumes), NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide - subproduct of burning fossil fuels).
I did notice that in my house I mostly have PM2.5 particles when cooking and a very slight rise of NO2 level in the mornings.
Air purifier can oscillate (turn side to side) 45, 90, 180 or 350 degrees and it could blow air forward or to the back (if blowing forward makes you uncomfortably cold).
Remote control is included, but purifier could be also controlled via phone app (Dyson Link) or using Amazon Alexa voice controls.
Purifier has a set of 4 filters (2 fiberglass that look kinda like engine air filters and 2 carbon), I was not able to find a price of replacement filters just yet.
Overall - I'm very pleased with the machine, very quiet operation (in Auto mode it's almost silent if indoor air quality is good) and no more cooking smells!

Pros
Quiet even on high for an air purifier
Compact design is easy to accommodate in any room
Airflow can be directed to cool or only purify
Integrated smartphone controls and reporting
Night mode limits noise output and dims screen
Measures air quality to help you find out what is affecting you
Automatic mode allows it to turn on and clean air as needed
Integrates with Alexa
Attractive design
Moves a lot of air on high
Cons
No listing of how big of a room is supported
Slight motor whine on high
Says not to carry by loop even though that is the most logical method
Fan keeps saying it has updated firmware and yet app says it needs a firmware update
If you suffer from allergies you are probably accustomed to having a big box in your room making a loud air sound as you sleep at night. You hope it makes a difference but aren’t quite sure since it doesn’t tell you anything. You don’t leave it on all the time because you don’t want to hear it running. Well the Dyson Pure Cool Tower, as with most Dyson products, does things a little different.
To start, most air purifiers are boxes that sit on the floor. The pure cool tower looks and acts just like a tower fan, except in Dyson style. If you want to use it as a purifier you can change it to direct air to the back. Direct air to the front it becomes a purifier and fan. A nice side benefit of the purifier always being part of this combined with the unique design means air is always passed through a filter first. This should mean no more figuring out a way to clean dust off the blades on a regular tower fan. On high, the purifier is louder than a traditional tower fan with a slight motor whine sound. A night mode option does limit the speed to a max of 4 instead of 10 meaning it is silent while you sleep. To be fair, it is more appropriate to compare it to a purifier and in that case, it is far quieter. Although more subjective, the design is much more attractive than a traditional purifier so leaving it in a room doesn’t create the eyesore most do.
The design also means you likely won’t feel compelled to put it up the moment allergy season is over. This is helpful because with an automatic mode the purifier measures contaminants in the room and automatically cleans the air as needed. The side effect is that the continuous on demand cleaning means dusting should be needed less since there is less in the air. It also means if you leave it out on automatic, you shouldn’t get caught when allergens change during a lazy spell and you aren’t checking allergy reports only to wake up with a stuffed nose. Another benefit of the automatic features is the filter monitor. Even if you ignore the display directly on the tower, the app will tell you when your filter life is getting low. This really helps to spoil you with less to think about. Just put it on auto and it will tell you when it needs help. Adding even more to the convenience factor is the ability to control it with Alexa. If using the remote or app are too much work, just tell Alexa to do it for you.
If you are the type who wants to get more hands on it of course has a manual mode. More importantly, you can get reports on levels of different contaminants including PM 2.5, PM 10, VOC and NO2. The display on the tower allows you to display the temperature, humidity, or the contaminant level of your choice. The app can show you them all in a single glace to allow you to examine every aspect of the air quality of your room. Strangely, if you want to dig into the specific graphs of contaminants the app warns the purifier needs a firmware upgrade. No matter how many times it says firmware upgrade complete, the graphs do not show. Hopefully this is just a sign of an upcoming feature and not a bug. Overall, this shortcoming doesn’t affect the functionality unless you just must see the contaminant levels from hours ago. It is very easy to see the sensors at work. Just mow your lawn and come in and out a few times during the process. You will not only see the numbers jump on the display, you will hear the fan speed up to clear the air. Once things have settle the purifier will slow back down and turn off as needed.
Regardless of if you are the hands off or hands on type of person, the Pure Cool Tower can help you keep your allergies in check. If you like Dyson products, you know and accept their products aren’t the cheapest. Typically, their higher price comes with a lot of added value and the same is true of the Pure Cool Tower. There are no major downsides. In fact, the only real gripe is if you want to move it you aren’t supposed to use the most logical built in carrying handle. Even though the loop looks like a perfect carrying handle, the instructions say not to do so or you may damage the unit.
If you are the market for an air purifier and want something you can just leave out all the time to take care of things for you without fuss, then the Dyson Pure Cool Tower is a good fit. It makes taking care of allergies easier and more informative while keeping your room quiet.

Quiet, powerful purifier

While both my wife and I suffer from allergies, my wife generally has a tougher time. This purifier will definitely help, it has already made an improvement in the air quality of our bedroom. The companion app is a great tool for not only monitoring the current air quality, but you can easily see what has been corrected by looking at the statistics from previous days. The added ability to create a constant stream of purified air is a major plus. At it's highest speed, it pushed a very large amount of air, but really the only noise that you hear is from the movement of the air itself. The noise the purifier makes itself is very minimal. And, if you're concerned with the noise produced, scheduling the purifier to change to a night mode (which limits its speed) keeps it whisper quiet, even when oscillating. Speaking of scheduling, which can all be controlled through the app, or included remote, setting the purifier to "Auto" removes the guess work out of when to run. This is a very easy to use purifier. My only concern is the potential maintenance cost of replacing the filters, though the seem like they'll last for a while.
If you're in the market for an air purifier, you can't go wrong with this one.
Pros: Very efficient at purifying and maintaining air quality Very quiet. Oscillation, powerful air movement, easy scheduling through app, digital assistant compatible
Cons: Potential maintenance cost of replacement filters
