All time classic gets a first rate blu ray release.

E.T. is not only one of the best films ever, but it is also the personal favorite of an entire generation. Thankfully, the 4K UHD version preserves the movie that we fondly remember. While the many dark and dim-lit scenes show a new clarity, the image has a filmic grain. The DTS:X soundtrack is similarly impressive yet natural. The bicycle dashing over the top of the car really shows off the overhead sound effect. Of the decent collection of supplements, The E.T. Journals is the most fun. Watching the young Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore never gets old. This is a must-own 4K movie.

The 4k version of E.T. is stunning and the best way to view this Spielberg cinematic classic. This is the original version of the film and not the early 2000's special edition; I could have gone either way but after watching the original I'm glad they stuck with the original (puppet E.T. in this vs. CGI in the updated version). This release contains some pretty solid bonus features, many carried over from that early 2000's DVD release though there are some new ones for good measure. Digital copy and Blu-Ray are nice to have included (the Blu-Ray for the special features). If you're a fan of E.T. or a Spielberg completest, this is a must own.

This endearing tale of a lost ET who finds friendship on Earth is a great family movie kids will enjoy. There are some mildly scary scenes for little ones, but not bad compared to what they see in a movie nowadays. The movie is slow paced compared to today's films and the special effects are silly, it didn't seem to bother the kids because they actually got into the story and that is worth much more than the super effects we get on recent films to compensate for the lack of a good script. This movie is perfect for a family night because it is good for all ages. It is also night to get some 80's flashbacks and get to share with your kids how life was "Back then", this movie will bring back good memories and make new ones for your kids.

This is Spielberg at his best. That is all I can say about E.T. IT's gripping, intelligent story mixed with its incredible symbolism makes it one of the best films ever made. E.T. is a story about friendship, loyalty, and family. But most of all it is about love, and how powerful love is. The brilliantly innovative shots mixed with John William's epic score makes for a masterpiece, which E.T. certainly is. The underlying theme of science vs. religion is also what makes the film great. All of these things mesh together to form the film that "touched millions of people around the world." Everything about this film is great. Steven Spielberg pulls off some legendary shots, and the acting from the children is excellent. It makes the film truly real. Henry Thomas as Elliot is great. Drew Barrymoore is so cute throughout he whole film and she captures the audience every time she appears on screen. Peter Coyote does great with the minimal screen time they chose to give him. The relationship between E.T. and Elliot can be marked as one of the greatest friendships in Hollywood history, and if you have not seen this film I urge you to rent it or see it somehow as soon as possible. If you want to see why everyone raves about Spielberg being the greatest director of all time see this film. It truly shows him at his best. It will not only make you laugh and make you smile, but it will touch your heart deeper than any movie has touched you before. E.T. will go down as one of the greatest films as all time. Its timelessness is one of a kind. Forget what you hear about it being overrated. See it for yourself and understand why this film is apart of a small collection of films that will stay in our hearts forever and ever.

Great price for this movie especially for a Uhd Blu ray. A little grainy on dark scenes but over all the quality of the picture and audio was good.
