Best smart thermostat!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.chose ecobee3! ecobee3 is so easy to install. At first I was hesitant to do install it myself because I don't have a C wire but when I read the instructions, it wasn't that difficult to follow. Set up is quick and interface is intuitive. I live in a townhouse so the 3rd floor rooms are usually 2-3 degrees hotter than the main floor where the thermostat is. This caused discomfort on hot evenings when my family sleeps. But once I installed the sensors in each of the rooms, it averaged the temperature throughout the house and it became more comfortable at night. Great device! If you live in a multi-level house, I would recommend getting additional sensors. You can create your own comfort settings and play around with enabling/disabling sensors based on who's occupying the house.

Easy to install, even easier to configure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not think this device was going to make my life much easier, with the multizone configuration we now get the house at the right temperature for all. And with the scheduling we are just using the cooling when needed and not all the time. Very easy to use and install I love it!!!

Great Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before I purchased my smart thermostat.I finalized on the Ecobee3. The primary reason: remote sensors. The Ecobee3 has some solid features that lifts it above the competition— 1) Remote Sensors: The ecobee ships with one. I have added 4 more. Placed strategically throughout the house. The sensors detect motion/occupancy and then the ecobee tries to make sure the occupied areas are near the target temperature. That means that the location of the actual thermostat doesn't really matter. I hated that about my dumb thermostat and other smart thermostats don't fix the problem. 2) Can hook up to accessory items: Have a humidifier? The ecobee can control it! That's awesome. 3) Smart Home/Smart Away: This is the basic smart thermostat feature everyone wants. The thermostat knows when you are home. The remote sensors make this even cooler. 4) Doesn't try to be too smart: I have read stories where someone's Nest tries to lower the temp in the house to 50 degrees because it thinks they are on vacation and it's in the middle of winter. Even if not true, the Ecobee has a minimum temp and maximum temp setting that send you alerts if those temps are reached. It doesn't try to turn everything off anyways.

Better than all the others!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thermostat is awesome! I had a nest. I switched to this and never looked back. The interface on here is large enough to actually see. The information it gives is useful and they actually offer a watch app for the apple watch. Add homekit and the additional sensors to the mix and I can't see how anyone could pick another thermostat over the ecobee!

Excellent product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When Ecobee announced their new Ecobee3 with remote sensors, I knew I wanted to replace our Nest, specifically for the remote sensors and the ability to work with Samsung SmartThings. The install for the Ecobee3 was a breeze.I followed the app step by step. Incredible well done and didn't encounter any hiccups. . Setup was extremely easy. After initial setup, I configured 1 remote sensor( bedroom), which helps the Ecobee3 keep my house at a consistent temperature. Ecobee3 supports a "follow me" feature with the remote sensors that helps determine which rooms in the house are occupied and relays this information to the main thermostat to help with comfort. I think this is the best future so far I plan on adding some sensors for the other rooms.

Great Upgrade from 'dumb' Thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wifi connected Ecobee3 has been a great addition to our home. We mostly control the Ecobee from the mobile apps on our iPhones and iPads. We have the main unit and 3 wireless remote sensors. While using the 'follow me' feature, the system knows which rooms we are in and uses that rooms' temperature as the one to make the most comfortable.

Great Thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device can control your homes heating and cooling with only a short installation and setup. However, if you want more control, the system offers additional settings you can modify. The product works great for us and our heating and cooling bills have been reduced.

Best Smart Thermostat Available
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ecobee3 is by far the best smart thermostat available. The remote sensors are the killer feature. No more cold and hot rooms as the sensors help to balance the cooling and heating across your house. Being able to control Ecobee with my phone, Apple Watch, Siri, or on the web is pretty awesome too. Forget the others, Ecobee is the best!

Ecobee 3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ecobee 3 Thermostat Quick facts; used to replace a Honeywell TH6220D and a Honeywell TH 5220D thermostat on a heat pump system with one cool cycle and two-stage heat. Two Ecobee 3 thermostats were installed on a two zone system, one zone being downstairs with the other being upstairs. The only installation issue was knowing that the W wire is a shared connection with the O/B post on the Honeywell thermostats (the wiring configuration from the Honeywell’s was a little confusing to me, although probably not to most – the W or O/B wire connection is the same connection on the Honeywell thermostat). Honeywell uses a central horizontal post configuration in these thermostats and the top configuration is labeled W and the configuration on the bottom for the same connection is labeled O/B. Something to think about before purchasing either the Ecobee 3 thermostat or the Nest thermostat is the location of your thermostats. One of my thermostats is in a small vestibule leading to the master bedroom on the first floor and the second thermostat is in a media room on the second floor. These are not areas with a clear line of sight nor much traffic which ultimately makes the Nest thermostat somewhat unpractical since it only sees what is in front of it. The same would be said for the Ecobee 3 except the Ecobee 3 allows me to install remote sensors. Ecobee’s remote sensors are its defining feature. As Ecobee’s website states their thermostats are designed for people who live in houses with more than one room. The remote sensors can be activated individually or in groups and each thermostat has the capacity to carry up to 32 remote sensors on it. This feature alone is what makes this thermostat so valuable to me. I am one of those people who needs to sleep in a room that is on the cool side and the Ecobee allows me to do that. I have a remote sensor placed in my bedroom and when the thermostat enters the sleep cycle it is the only one that’s selected therefore the thermostat is actually reading the temperature in my bedroom and acting on that instead of the main thermostat in the vestibule. For me, the ability to control the temperature in my bedroom with this type of precision is one of the best sleep aids I could ever have. It doesn’t matter whether I like it hot or cold the Ecobee is going to read the temperature in my bedroom and heat/cool to that setting and nothing else. It’s this degree of programmability and flexibility that I find most desirable with this thermostat. The Ecobee is not a design object like the Nest thermostat which is made of glass and stainless steel. The Ecobee is a utilitarian design to provide maximum comfort and control over your house. It has a couple of features that I think are very important. These are its “follow me” feature, which, with the use of remote sensors, allows you to move from room to room in the house without the main thermostat going into an “away mode”. It also has an “auto away feature” that recognizes when no ones is in the house so even if the thermostat might be in the middle of a cycle that calls for 72° inside it will automatically go to the away setting which by default I believe is 78°. These are the things that are important to me and the things that I like about this thermostat. I cannot make a claim that the Ecobee will save money, although that is entirely possible. But for most people including myself a claim like that is similar to saying that if you switch to the diet versions of all your favorite foods you will lose weight. The goals are possible but it is the user’s responsibility to apply the technology provided in a way that it will deliver the desired results. In that respect the Ecobee gives the user all the tools necessary to obtain significant savings in energy costs.

The best wireless smart thermostat!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best features of the Ecobee3 are the remote access, energy reports and smart away and home. I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase the Ecobee3 and when I found it that it included the power extender kit (PEK) for furnaces that do not have C wires, I was sold! I really like access to the weather report right from the main unit. Installation with the PEK was super easy. I've been using it for just over 2 months now and am loving it! This product is highly recommended and well worth the cost as it will save you money in the long run by identifying inefficiencies you may currently have. The Ecobee3 has far exceeded my expectations in all regards!

Great, no nonsense thermostat with lots of data
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always wanted the Nest, but never had an opportunity to have one. We recently bought a home and I started research on smart thermostats. I immediately went to the Nest, but after a lot of consideration I decided to try ecobee - a brand I had never heard of before. I'm very glad that I did! The integration between the thermostat and the various mobile apps / web app is seamless. It looks and feels exactly like the same interface. The remote sensor is a feature that I didn't think would be a big deal, but it's been huge for us. Since we have an older home, we appreciate being able to tell the thermostat to ignore the temperature downstairs at night and only use data from the sensor in our bedroom. And the data we can get from the web app / tablet is awesome. I can see exactly what was running, when. This came in handy when our built in humidifier stopped working. We could show the data to the contractor so they knew when and under what conditions it was and wasn't running. All in all, this is a great product and I'd highly recommend it.

By far the best thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is, by far, the best thermostat out there. It differentiates itself from other “smart” thermostats with one “killer” feature: remote sensors. You can place multiple sensors in different rooms in your house, and the ecobee will use them in determining when to turn on the heat. In addition, you can ignore certain sensors during different schedules. For example, I tell ecobee to ignore my kids bedrooms during the day and only use the thermostat itself to calculate heating. At night, however, I have the ecobee ignore itself (the main unit in my living room) and ONLY use the bedroom sensors. This prevents the bedrooms from getting too hot or too cold based on a temperature from a room nobody is occupying overnight. Pure genius. The other “smart” features work great: the web page and iOS app work as you would expect them to. Remote access, changing home/away, temperatures, etc. All in all, if you have a single zone house and need multiple temperature readings from different rooms, the ecobee is a no brainer.

Aewsome wifi thermostat!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Forget other Thermostats (Nest or Honeywell) Ecobee3 is the one you need that does it all and it works with Siri or Android devices. Beautiful sleek design, easy to use software plus you can add as many sensors throughout your home to monitor and control the temperature. Extra sensors pick up motion and temperature. Installation is DIY easy, just follow all instructions and videos. I had to install the PEK due to no C Wire which was fine and everything fires up and works perfectly. Buy this thermostat now, install as many sensors as you need and save money on heating and cooling bills. Enjoy! I highly recommend this product! Cheers

Excellent value smart thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really simple and elegant installation process. Killer feature is the additional sensor which you can choose to average or just "follow" your round. Excellent App support. Could do with a few additional trim options to support different decors. Really good value especially compared to the NEST.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ecobee3 is so easy to install. Simple instructions are included and then the setup is done very easily on the touch screen. Once it is set up you can make adjustments on the Web interface, a Mobile phone, a tablet or on the thermostat. Very easy to operate. I highly recommend the ecobee3.

Best Smart Thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The install was easy enough. Took less than 30 minutes. Instructions and videos were clear. The only complaint I have with the install process is the double sided sticky tape for the PEK was not strong enough to hold it. So I had to use standard tape to hold in my HVAC. The Thermostat portion was easy to mount too. It looks great on the wall compared to my old unit. Setup was straightforward. Calibration was taking longer than the 20 minutes, but as soon as I pressed on the display it cleared and started working. I really enjoy using the app and HomeKit integration is very nice to have. It fits very well in my smart enabled home.

A lot better than good old programming thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this thermostat installed last week by an electrician. Thankfully since the builder did pass a cable I could use a "c" wire and I did not need to use the extender. For me, the use of a C wire is actually a plus Only real issue with the installation is that the hole in the plate in the back did not match the holes I had in the walls. They have use a retangular box to feed the wire through and it was too big for me to use the supplied holes. I had to make holes myself, which made that the thermostat doesn't sit all the way, but it is still working fine. I like the display a lot. It is clean and fits with most decor. I like the flexibility I have now the fix the temperature at a distance, depending if I know I will get home later or earlier. The sensors works great as well. I have 3 around the house and I will most likely get more. We used the vacation setting this weekend and works like a charm. I would definitely recommand this thermostat. I just took one star off because of the installation issue on my wall.
