Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the 9 Outlet/2 USB Component 3240 Joules Surge Protector/Power Conditioner. They appreciate the number of outlets, especially the high current outlet in the front for easy charging, and the surge protection capabilities of the product. The USB ports on the front and back of the unit are also seen as a convenient feature. However, some customers find the lights on the front panel to be too bright, even at the lowest dimming setting.

Good but could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This power conditioner is pretty good. I like the display and style. It's easy to read and simple. The indicator lights seem to work well. The bluetooth feature is a nice touch and I connected to the app with no issues. I like how the outlets are in 3 sets and can be switched on or off. A couple things I don't like are that the outlets aren't labeled by device and that they face sideways. It's hard to plug in larger plugs with this design. Overall, it's not bad and seems to do what it's designed to do.
I would recommend this to a friend - Cons mentioned:Bulky size, Overkill for basic needs

Smart Surge Protector
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a very reputable home entertainment surge protector on my living room home entertainment center for years but my ever expanding setup in my office/man cave needed attention. While the size of the ELAC ProteK is a bit on the bulky side it's width is consistant with most stereo components although not as deep which caused me a little bit of hearburn. It would have been nice to put it under my stereo receiver but ended up having it under a gaming console instead where it looks a bit out of place. A major reshuffle of components on my entertainment center may be necessary to make it a bit more obscure. Setup was extremely easy but I have a major gripe. Why do I need an account to use a surge protector?!?!?!?! Yes, it has some additonal features making it "SMART" but is it really? Once you connect everything to the device and power it on I could not get it past pairing (flashing blue power light/button) until I downloaded the app, created an account and paired the device. This should not be necessary!!! There are 9 120V power outputs with various orientations so you may need to plan ahead depending on the cord plug arrangement. The output receptacles are too close together in my opinion which will negate using power adapters plugged directly into the back. I ended up have to daisy chain (not recommended) a small power strip so I could plug in adapters for things like controller chargers. There are 2 USB charging outputs on the front for easy access. Nice feature! If you arranged the groups by device type you can swith that group off and on at will on your smartphone using the ELAC ProteK app. You can even schedule power on and power off states using the app, which is cool but honestly I'm using it as an entertainment center surge protector and there is nothing I have connected that I would need to schedule power on and power off times. For me this is a wasted feature as is the group powering on and off, for me anyway. Others might have a need for this functionality but strictly overkill for my application. Also, since this is a Bluetooth controlled device you need to be in range to operate. If it were network capable then it might be a bit more attractive or if you have it stowed behind a cabinet door it might be nice to have feature. As a surge protection device it checks all the boxes but has a few extras that most will not need and maybe going the route of a traditional surge protector might be your best bet. The smart features are nice but will you really use them? For me it's overkill for my needs. It does have a few nice to have features but will I use them... probably not. If you are looking for something like this make sure to do your homework. It's a great unit for what it does but for me having an account to use the app really kills it.
