Elden Ring is visually stunning and the story is captivating. The difficulty, however, is intense. Expect to be killed again and again and lose any progress since the last save point. It can be extremely frustrating to play for hours and only make it a few minutes into the story. For someone like me who has limited time for games, it was not worth the effort. If you do have the time, it is rewarding. I have watched my son pour hours and hours into the game and the story is still captivating every time I watch. If you have the time and the patience, I recommend the game but if you are a casual gamer or don't have a lot of time you may want to skip this one.

In my son's own words: "This is honestly one of the best games I've ever played. The mechanics are amazing as well as the graphics, it is a great addition to the Soulsborne series. One of the only down sides of the game is the re-skinned bosses which makes the game feel repetitive at times. Otherwise the game is a good way to spend hours of time playing. The story and the ability to get geared up early to demolish bosses makes it a great play. Highly recommend."

Such a fun and incredible game series that Fromsoftware has made over the years with Elden Ring being their latest release!
The game and case in perfect condition, the steelbook included in the pre-order bonus is solid and attractive. the pre-order bonus chosen by BestBuy was significantly more valuable to me than the alternative stores'. Very happy with this purchase.
I've put 140 hours into this game since release and have yet to reach the ending. the bosses are tough, just like in Dark Souls, and the wins are fulfilling. A lot of exploration, stunning scenery and views, plenty of quest lines to follow for multiple endings, the magic is very pretty and powerful, and a lot of features included that are lacking in previous titles.
Elden Ring is still a difficult game and many players, new or not, may have to spend a good amount of time playing to progress, but the rewards and satisfaction behind beating tough enemies is well worth it! A huge improvement as always and a great introduction game to the previous entries (in my opinion).

It’s unforgiving. It’s hard. It’s stressful sometimes. But besides all of that it’s still an absolute masterpiece of a game. Better than all the other souls games imo

One of the best adventure games I've ever played. Being new to this format, I found it pretty confusing at first. Given no direction I was left to explore the world of Eldin Ring exactly as the character would, blindly. In the end, with over a year since it's release I still find myself engrossed in the seemingly endless mazes to navigate, areas to explore, lore to uncover. Despite what many have pointed out with regards to balance and rebalancing that has taken place since launch, I felt that it was fine from the get go and fine upon revisions. I think people just hate having their status quo messed with. That's understandable, but not really a real issue.

Oh man, this is a tough game for a casual gamer like me. But I soldier on because it's just so great. You can pretty much go anywhere, and you can easily get yourself knocked off by going into the wrong area before your character is ready. But what the heck, right? There's always a chance...until there isn't. Ha ha. Give it a shot, but bring along your patience. Worth it, for sure.

This game is ridiculously—insanely—brutal like all the other ones that fit the genre. I love how it drops you into the world and doesn’t hold your hand, and you’re free to venture off into the wild like the noob you are, getting punished or rewarded for every epic discovery. Enemies will show no remorse for your instant death and your best friend will be that of frustration and tossing your controller aside, or one of instant gratification.
If you are used to a very challenging game and have a world of patience, a sense of adventure, this game is probably the best there is by all standards.
My only pet peeves are losing all of your runes after death and having to fetch them off of your corpse; certain animations that will leave you vulnerable; the inventory system is a little convoluted; and the extreme slowness of leveling up after hitting a boss plateau.
These gripes aside, the game itself is a graphical powerhouse of design, scale, and musical score.

I loved this game so much I bought the PS5 version for my son and bought myself a PS5 copy so he and I could play together. This game is absolutely stunning. The graphics are just gorgeous. The combat is very tough but it is an open world game so if you find something difficult you can always go somewhere else. I’ve put over 100 hours into this game. Sometimes I wander around just looking at the detailed and beautiful scenery. This is probably the best game I’ve ever played.

So I'm certainly latecomer to this game, but all the hype that I've heard, is absolutely accurate! The game has an immense amount to do, I've also died in the game several times, I'm sure there's many more to come, but it's fun challenging and there are several ways to play it. I would highly recommend this game if you're looking for a game that you can really Drive into and embrace the world the creators have made for us to enjoy. If you're looking for again that's going to be challenging and fun, this is like three of the game for you!

It's a 10/10 game, so long as you know what you're getting into.
As per usual with FromSoft, the gameplay is there and top notch, as is the lore... but the storytelling itself is pretty suboptimal. By this I mean that even if you use a guide, by which I mean 50 guides, for all the narrative threads available, you're STILL going to have a hard time keeping track of them.
I legitimately don't know how anyone completed any of those NPC quests. The steps to progress most of them are beyond obtuse.
I guess you could say they're very throwback, like to the days where GameStop would sell you Strategy Guides instead of season passes or whatever DLC.
Also, I've always found From's games to be more grindy than "challenging" (except for Sekiro which isn't an RPG), but Elden Ring takes it to the next level. Someone told me "it's not grinding, it's exploring", but that's just masking the grind. If you try to "not-explore" that big open world, you're going to have a bad time. At best, you'll wind up spending hours against every boss you encounter... so you ought as well grind that open world and enjoy it.
The game is huge.
I'm saying it's a 10/10, but your results may vary. It's a 10/10 for what it sets out to be.
I strongly recommend the Xbox version in offline mode, so you have Quick Resume and don't have a bunch of messages spoiling everything, everywhere.
I wonder if From has DLC planned for this, because it's insanely beefy.

Ill admit that these days im a fairly casual gamer. Maybe when i was younger i would have loved this game more (5 stars), but currently, the lack of direction of where to head made this tougher to get into. I do reslly like open world games, but this one in particular leaves a lot to be figured out. Casually trying to drop into the game for 30mins here or there is a bit tough. That said, i do enjoy the combat challenge and that the game is gorgeous. I will eventually finish this game, but no clue when....

This my first entry into the series and I am glad i bought the game. Currently my son is playing it and is loving it. I will say its very hard so plan on dying a lot but take time to explore and level up until you are ready to take on your next enemy. This is an open world game with lots of variety so take your time and explore. Its not a pickup and play right away type game but more of a take your time without interruptions type.

Its a epic game to venture toward challenging quest and talking to NPC. Batle great boss battles and claim great taliman and weapons. Beautiful scenes and various lands to explore. A great replay to prepare for the DLC. I finish the game with many achievements and completed all the boss battles.

Having never played a Souls game due to disinterest over their well known difficulty, I was hesitant to play Elden Ring but ultimately gave into the hype, and man, am I glad I did. This game is hands down one of the greatest of all time, and in all my years gaming I’ve never put more hours into a single player game than I have in this one. It is a true masterpiece.

The graphics are the only thing good about this game and it is possibly the worst game I have ever played. First off the controls are hard to use and the camera jerks all around. It is just clunky. Then getting killed is all too easy to do. When you die, you are then forced to go back to the location of your death and pick up your "runes" in the place of your death. If you die one more time before picking up the runes you lose them forever. This is super lame and makes every death feel like a bad chore. However, I gave the game a chance for a while and suffered through the bad controls and picking up the runes after each death. That is, until an enormous bear magically popped out of the ground and killed me with two hits. This was the final straw for me. I ejected the game and traded it in. Lesson learned. I will also avoid any "FromSoftware" title in the future as I hear this is par for the course for them.

Elden Ring is a masterpiece. This game brings a relentlessly challenging combat to an incredible open world that gave me the freedom to choose my own path. I loved playing this game and I recommend it to everyone that is willing to put the time in.
