Mine didn’t work out of the box either (see other persons review). I pulled the plastic insulator out of the battery compartment per instructions, stood on it, and nothing happened. I noticed that a warning label said to not over bend the spring that holds the battery in place. After looking, it was over bent from the factory. I wasn’t able to bend it back into shape. I did attach a couple of pieces of plastic about the thickness of a credit card to the battery compartment door. It works fine now. Seems like a bit of quality control from the factory is in order.

Did not work right out of box. Took to store and store rep could not get to work either. Looking at previous reviews, I now see others had same negative comments. Obviously no quality control by the manufacture and no concern by Best Buy who should have seen that feedback indicated this product was a failure.

Battery compartment sucks don't work, can't get the battery to make a connection to make the product work !!!

Using it for more then a year. Its good and useful. Battery life is also good.

Once It took the scale out of the box, I removed the film in the battery compartment and then tried to use it. It did not work. Within the battery compartment there is a general "clock" battery. Then I saw in the instructions that it also needed 2 AAA batteries so I got some, but then couldn't figure out where they could possibly fit. Being an engineering student, I took the backing off if it. The wiring is very simple. Yet there was no wiring leading to anywhere where AAA batteries could be placed. Within the instructions, it shows a picture with a typical battery compartment containing a spring and a metal connection. These do not exist anywhere within the scale.

I am bringing it back to the store as it does not work out of the box. I read the owners manual and still nothing.
