Great movie I like Matt Damon in all of his movies he did a good job with this one would recommend

ELYSIUM 2014 ARE GREAT ACTION SCI-FI FILM MATT DAMON IS AMAZING RECOMMEND FOR ALL...

Elysium tells a story set in the future but hints at paths we are on as a civilization ourselves. While maybe embellished a bit for entertainment, there are real warnings in this movie about our own future. As a sci-fi movie buff I really enjoyed this movie, for the acting, the story they told, the cinematography. I had a blast watching this movie and the real bonus is that it made me think; not many movies do this. The only real downer to this Blu-ray for me is that, once again, one is forced to support (and pay for) the DVD medium. It wouldn't be so annoying if they didn't also sell a DVD separately (and cheaper on its own). This product would have been a solid 5-stars if priced as a Blu-ray. Frustration aside, this is a great sci-fi movie.

This is a good action film with a good story. I liked pretty much. Would have given it 5 stars but for the bad language. Why is it the producers think films have to contain bad language, sometimes it really grates on you. The first DVD I bought didn't work, either disc, but Best Buy took it back even after their 7 return policy. I think that is rather short, especially since I bought a half dozen discs but didn't watch them all right away. Haven't watched the new disc yet, hope it works.

This a great action movie, very entertaining that you can watch with the whole family.

A straightforward shoot 'em up tale driven by deliberately overt yet nonetheless important sociopolitical concerns, Neil Blomkamp's Elysium is an action-packed, visually thrilling ride. Almost ten years later, the sci-fi actioner remains a fun popcorn piece of entertainment thanks to a strong ensemble cast, amazing visuals and a plot that feels all the more relevant today. Blomkamp's socially-conscious saga crash lands on Ultra HD with an outstanding 4K HDR10 video presentation and a highly-satisfying Dolby Atmos soundtrack, delivering a notable upgrade over its Blu-ray counterpart. With a new set of bonuses for this UHD edition, the overall package is highly recommended.

With themes that explore contemporary issues, Elysium, is one potent thrill ride. The film arises a conversation worthy futuristic look at what our society may become. Although the realism may be bent from time to time for dramatic effect. It still is something to be applauded having a top tier action film take place amongst such social disparity. Technically the movie is superb. The cinematography is beautiful in all its gritty, saturated, realism. At times it looks and feels like a foreign drama and not a big budgeted action film. The CG is well executed with breathtaking establishing shots of both Earth and Elysium. Sometimes the CG isn't even noticeable. On the acting side Matt Damon, being a very reliable leading man, is great as an ex-con trying to do right but falls into a bad situation that only worsens as his selflessness is tested. Sharlto Copley is scene stealing as ruthless mercenary, who might be in it for more than the money. The film's societies do not feel fully realized do to unexplored themes and issues. Up to a certain point the plot is fairly routine. With its flaws the movie to quite enjoyable with great action.

Good price on a good sci-if movie. I forgot how much I enjoyed this movie.

A great sci fi movie with Mat Damon. A fun watch for any sci fi lover.

I thought it had great concept and idea behind it. It was a cool environment on Earth where everything was futuristic yet old school at the same time. The idea of creating our own world to go live on is super cool. Matt Damon's characters is excellent and he has a great story to tell, with action and a sarcastic sense of humor thrown in. It gets crazy towards the end when the "Bad Guy" becomes more of the story line. It may just be myself, but it was very hard to follow what he was saying with his very strong South African accent. This made things a bit cheesy towards the end. All in all it's a fun movie and cool gear & tech. Blu-Ray looks amazing as always and the sound is top-notch & detailed.

Matt Damon not best role, like int the Martian movie, not his best role. When I see him I see Bourne and not an futuristic guy...sorry 3 stars only...

A very unique movie that is fun to watch, and Best Buy has it for a good price

Matt Damon's character is a good guy who has done bad in the past in the hope he can get himself to Elysium. Then he has an accident that will be fatal for him so he decides to break the law again so he can cure himself on Elysium. Along the way an old friend with a sick daughter is caught up in the mayhem and he promises to get her cured as well. Good story about a future that dooms most of mankind to fend for themselves and to work and die in poverty. Morality play about right and wrong regardless of your status as a citizen.

This is an amazing movie to remind us what this world is coming to

Not something I would watch over and over but I will watch again. If you like Sci-Fi, you'll like this. If you're not into Sci-Fi, you'll like it too but probably not as much as someone who is into Sci-Fi flicks. I've heard a lot of talk about this from people suggesting there's a political message here. I think you'll find a political message in any movie if you're looking for it. I didn't see anything suggesting that this had a primarily political agenda.
