Romola Garai brings Emma Woodhouse to life with humor, personality, and brilliance. I dislike films of classic novels that try to squeeze the story in to a movie of less than 2 hours leaving the finished product with so many plot holes. BBC thankfully stretches the story of Emma to almost 4 hours. The strong acting, scenery, locations, and attention to details are superb. This adapation of Jane Austen's Emma is delightful.

I have not seen this on DVD yet, but I DVRed it on Masterpiece Classic on tv. I found the story to bet good, the actors to be very versed in Austen and her language, and the cinematography to be good. The only complaint I have with this adaptation is that at the climax of the story, when Knightly and Emma finally get together, I expected there to be more emotion on both parts; they have finally figured out that they love each other. I felt there should be this great emotional moment, but in my experience, there was not. I ended the film not feeling as fulfilled like I thought I would. Great movie, but needs more emotional response from characters!!

This is a great movie adaption of Jane Austen's Emma and it is cast really well. Jonny Lee Miller does a great job of playing Mr. Knightley in this movie . I really enjoyed this movie.
