I took a gamble on the CD because I hear a lot of their songs come up on my Pandora playlist. Many of the songs on this CD are exactly what I expected from them: folksy and somehow simultaneously upbeat and melancholy. Some of the songs were a little too experimental for my tastes and get the instant "skip" every time I come across them!

If your a fan of acoustic music and the sounds of folk music thi CD is a must

I came upon this band and this album late. Had written them off as hype. But upon finally sitting down and listening to Emotionalsim I was quite simple floored. Such a distinct sound amonst all the white noise in current pop. The songs are all beautifully written performed with a rough charm that is the spirit of folk. The use of Banjo, Guitar, Stand-up bass and cello creates a rich, vintage sound that embraces lovers of both folk, country and rock. Enough can't be said about the vocals and the way they weave through each other adding a wealth of emotional resonance. The album appears to be recorded live in the studio, which leads to occasional rough patches, but ultimately these moments just add to the realness & beauty of the music. If you plan to get just one Avett Brothers album, this is the one.

Avett Brothers did it again. I have enjiyed all of their albums

if you like the Avett brothers dont hesitate to pick this up. A few more up tempo songs thrown in the mix compared to some other albums. No real outstanding songs compared to some of there other records but solids throughout and worth picking up

Great music for long drives or road trips. Not usually my kind of music, but the instrumentals and lyrics are very catchy. Never gets old. It is well worth the price and have made my friends fans of the avert brothers. I need 50 words for this review so this is just a filler sentence.

The Avett Brothers bring a great sound to the masses that is needed in the world today.

not as hook filled as there last two cds but still worth the listen

This is an amazing throwback to bluegrass/folk of years past with such a modern twist of "indie" flair. The AMAZING lyrics and soul-soothing voices just make this a perfect album. The Avett Brothers will become a favorite after listening to this album.

Started listening to this cd on a rock climbing trip in Alabama. Has that 'folk' sound to it that is certain to grow on anybody. Since then it is pretty much all I listen too.

this is the most amazing album ever. seriously. it is so down to earth and real. buy it now.
