If your looking for a low brow type of movie that kinda-sorta falls under the radar and you look at the cover see who's in it, who it may be directed by etc, and you hesitate on the blind buy for the price is within reason given the lead actor's. Well Empire State is that type of film. It's not a classic heist flick by any stretch, but it does offer an interesting historic view on a situation that went down in New York City circa 1982. The characters are all a bunch of cliche's for movie stuff, but these dudes where real folk. This movie is more of a starring flick for new timer Liam Hemsworth as The Rock has a small but important supporting role, while Emma Roberts pops in a few glamorous cameo's for good measure. The story moves along well and the performances are decent for the weak script, but the Eddie character you'll want to shoot in the head yourself after watching how stupid can one guy be. Bottom line I got my $8 dollars worth. Lionsgate blu offers up a standard good PQ & AQ presentation. Natural colors and a clean image. Audio is a nice 5.1 DTS track crisp and clear. A small bundle of extra's and a title that could essentially be billed as a guilty pleasure.....

It was a great movie, I've ever seen so far from Dwayne John beside the Fast n Furious. I will recommend this from friends and relatives to get one so they can see the exciting movie.

This film is based on a true story that happened in the late 70's about the biggest bank robbery in New York and they caught the guys but never found the money. Worth a watch

This blu ray gas great picture.quality and great sound quality. The acting is not the greatest, but The Rock knows his roll and plays it well. Overall I'd say it's worth a watch.

This was a true story about the largest bank heist in the USA. Nice to be able to actually see the real criminals as well. Where did the 12 million go?

This movie is pretty good. Probably not the best movie you will ever see, but if you like action movies, it is worth owning for a good deal.

The movie was interesting they probably could of got a few better actors but in the end the storyline was good and it was based on a true story

It is not the best movie but it is a good entertaining movie to own and watch it. Unless you do not like the Rock then it is not a good movie.

Worth watching if nothing else is on, I guess that's why I never heard of this movie till my wife saw it in the store and wanted to see it

Good action movie. The (Rock) is very good in this. So get the popcorn and soda ready before you start the movie.

Not a bad movie but not great. The cover is misleading and makes it look like there is a lot more action than there is. It also is set in the 70's but the cover looks like it is current day. For a movie based on a true story it was pretty good.
