Nice but not MAINSTREAM Music

I had this service for 3 months. I did like it at first then I realized it wasn't totally MAINSTREAM, sure it had some A-listers (Taylor Swift,Aretha) but I am seriously baffled that they don't have some much better artists like anyone from austin, TX which is the Live Music Capital and has a ton of artists just wanting a website that will pick em up. I must not reccomend this service if your used of A listers!!! It's weird at times, it has alot of Seattle Grunge indy pop so watch out. I can't really see how this site is still up!! Not to mention it should be free!!

New users may be surprised when using eMusic for the first time. There are no mainstream artists (so to speak) or major music labels. It's independent music labels and artists. Forgot all your preconceived notions about music and explore a world where you can open your mind and discover new music. Just because you've never heard of a group doesn't mean you won't like their music! eMusic is a place of discovery. eMusic is a hobby, a lifestyle. Buy this card and you have 100 chances to discover something new and something wonderful. Be prepared to stick around once you use eMusic. You'll like it so much you'll never leave.

Awesome for underground metal bands

Great for lesser-known bands, and it's cheaper than the other mp3 download sites like Rhapsody and iTunes. I listen to mostly underground metal bands, and while eMusic might not have a folk metal band from the underground metal scene in Belfast, it still has tons and tons of great metal that you can't find anywhere else for this price. Though I hear the prices are going up in July, so download as many as possible before then.

I just bought our first MP3 player and bought the emusic 100 song card. It was a great price compared to the other gift cards. There is a reason why, they have no music. I guess for the people who like the never heard of before artists it would be a great site. I typed in the name of several well known rock/punk bands my son likes and i got a message: We don't carry those artists albums to keep our prices low. When I asked for a refund on the monthly fee,I had only signed up less than 1/2 hour earlier, I was given contract legalease. Fine -my stupidlity(for not signing up with the 7 day trial), my loss but I will never have anything nice to say about emusic!

Emuic was the headquarters of the greatest indie music store out there. They have NO mainstream artists and NO major labels like Sony, BMG and Warner.
I thought this was great as I do not like major label music and stuff on the radio but searched out the indie music on MySpace.
So enjoy the card while it lasts.
New plans start out at 50 cents a track
eMusic Basic
24 (every 30 days) $11.99
But they are adding Sony's back catalog, older than 2 years.
So what, get used CDs for less!

The music is so incredibly cheap. emusic works just as good as any other digital music downloader.
