Not as good as the book, but still worthwhile

Ender's Game is one of my favorite novels and boasts a great story, characters and pacing. The film version maintains the essence of the book, though too much of the plot is glossed over. This is a film that could have used at least another 30 minutes.
Even so, there's a lot to like about the film. The Blu-ray also looks great and has excellent 7.1 sound.

I already owned Enders Game in Blue Ray but was so impressed I wanted to see it in 4k. I had a blue ray player but discovered that it only upgrades to near 4k and would not actually play a 4k commercial disk. Now I'm told I need a media player to view a 4k disk. Very disappointed. Now I'm sorry I purchased a 4k T.V. 1080 P worked just fine. My review is for the movie not the 4k part.

Overall, this is a great movie. The story is very good and the actors do a great job. Harrison Ford is his usual excellent self, and the situations all appear to flow together seamlessly except for the very end when Ender is searching for a new planet (Unrealistic) by himself, as if nobody knows what he is doing? Again, a very entertaining movie overall.

From the get to this movie pulls you in. The cinematography is top notch, and the score is well suited to the action. I liked the development of Ender, and Graff. They both made very believable characters... they get you involved in the movie. The story is really good, but like any book to movie, parts are missing, most notably, Ender's siblings' political games. Luckily that does nothing to detract from this movie... buy it!

I've read the books (not all of them) and I personally think it's a great adaptation of the book. Like most book to movie adaptations, it doesn't cover everything, but it does a great job of focusing the main plot. It would have been nice to cover everything but I'm positive it wouldn't have the same pacing.
Digital Download allows you to load it up to iTunes or UV.
Extras is your average stuff. Making off, trailers etc.

This film represents an excellent adaptation of one of the best sci-fi books ever. The cinematography is excellent and does a great job of representing what I envision from reading the book. The main actors do an excellent job, but some of the supporting cast is a tad weak. And it's a bit annoying that there is disagreement in the film itself on how to pronounce "Bonzo". Otherwise an excellent and highly recommended film.

A great movie. If you’re a fan of the books or just a great story, this is a good buy. I’m taking off a star because like most movies they change things from the book. (Which happens all the time. Still not a reason to try the movie)

Despite lacking the depth of the novel of the same name, it's still a fascinating story. Some of the levity of Ender's situation is missing, and it feels like it's there in the background, only removed due to editing. In the end, it's a sci-fi story that requires more thinking than your average movie.

Thr Ender story is well presented in this dvd. It's space opera, but also good science fiction - which means the story asks questions about mankind's morals and what we will be like in the future. The special effects are good. I wonder whayt happened to the actor playing Ender. He was very good.

While I liked the movie a lot, it did not seem to be a movie that I can watch over and over. I have let my kids watch it because it has some good talking points and not much shown violence. But I don't see myself watching this a lot in the future. I also am not sure that if they make this into a series that I would be interested in it.

I Thought this was a very good film about a future society where teenage children are the digital "experts" in waging war against an alien race. Great special effects and imagery. Harrison Ford, Viola Davis and Ben Kingsley were all good in this film.

This was an interesting movie with a good explanation at the first to fill you in on what had started everything . The storyline that the Forces of Earth were preparing for the epic battle to end all battles carried throughout the movie with added points of interest that gave you a glimpse of what drove Ender and the others to succeed.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Harrison Ford is great as usual. I was impressed by the acting of the yng boy especially. He has a bright future ahead if him as an actor. I never read the novel, but loved the movie; although I did get the sense that there was more to the story than what was portrayed in the movie. I was satisfied anyhow.

We bought it because my husband read the book a while back. I went into it with no prior knowledge of the story, etc. I thought it was a pretty good movie - visually interesting and the story was intriguing because it's different from anything I have watched recently. My husband thought it was pretty good but he prefers the book.

Not all 4K movies are created equal. Some movies are upscaled to 4K, but most, if not all of Ender's Game was originally shot in 4K and transferred to Blu Ray. The movie is a must own - it is based off of the novel on recommended reading lists of US military branches. Bright, vivid colors adds to the cinematic experience. I am very satisfied with my purchase!

The only drawback in not the movie, but the "tagging" process which destroys the integrity of the sleeve. Most save movies to a collection and destroying the sleeve is most distasteful with a tag that cannot be easily removed. Why are they tagged to begin with when the UPC is utilized for identification and pricing?

I have not read the book(s) this is based on, so I am not able to say how well it follows those. What I can say is that it was an entertaining movie and worth seeing for fans of the science fiction genre. The special effects are done well and allow a better suspension of disbelief. I felt that the plot was a bit weak at points, but still allowed for an overall enjoyable experience.

I am a big fan of the book and was really excited when I found out about a movie adaptation. I enjoyed seeing one of my favorite books come to life. It was also a bonus that the author (Card) of the book had a role in making the film. The movie is so much more than special effects. There is a whole other level of social and internal conflict sandwiched between battle after battle.

I enjoyed this movie in ways that I enjoyed the original book. The book stands on its own and is a great work. This movie should not be seen as an attempt to make the novel into a movie, but rather as a new way for the author to tell his original story. A new medium to deliver the message of the original book.

Enders Game is a great screen adaption of the classic science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card, and even better in 3D. The movie is fast paces and follows Ender Wiggin through his efforts to "save the universe" from total destruction. Great acting and plot development. Now there has to be a sequel...
