    Not for everyone

If all you've seen by Denis Villeneuve are Dune (2021) or Blade Runner 2049 or Sicario; you're in for a BIG surprise with Enemy. Although he proves in all the aforementioned films that he can focus on the small amidst the big, this film is all about the small; the intimate, the deep, the difficult. Jake Gyllenhaal plays two (?) characters, and does so formidably, and all the other roles are well cast; Isabella Rossellini is the perfect choice for her role. Steeped in yellows and oranges, this film has a dream-like quality to it and for good reason; which I shall not reveal. Based on a novel by the late, great Nobel-Prize willer José Saramago, this film will force you to think. And think some more. And consider. And re-consider. I streamed this film, and immediately decided to buy the disc, because it is deeply thought-provoking and needs more viewings to be able to take it all in. It is quiet, and to many it will appear slow. But like the best arthouse films, it will reward you. Denis Villeneuve proves that he is one of the very few now-working directors who can straddle the divide between art-film and blockbuster; Arrival may be one of the best for that; this falls quite firmly on the arthouse side of things. If you like easily digested, superficial entertainment; steer clear. If you like to be challenged, to think, to be allowed to fill in the blanks yourself; this is for you.

Jake Gyllenhaal continues to prove his mettle as a major Hollywood player here. A great, densely-layered film that will leave you with unanswered questions, but a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Jake Gyllenhaal in another amazing performance. Great direction. This movie is not for everyone but makes you think to put the pieces together. I loved it.

This is a film that you need to pay attention to, and if you do you will be rewarded. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a subtle, complex performance. For something different, give this a try.

Most people won’t like Enemy because of how odd it is. Once you’ve analyzed the movie however, it is such a good movie. I loved the performances, cinematography, and the imagery. It is an artsy type of movie and some people won’t be into that. If you are into that, you will not be disappointed. It’s such a great story and a really good movie.

If you liked the movie Prisoners then you will love this movie. Both movies have the same director and both star Jake Gyllenhaal. My only issue is that some sites state the blu-ray comes with an Ultraviolet Digital Copy but it doesn't.

I love Jake Gyllenhaal but was very disappointed in this movie. It didn't make any sense even after reading up on the film. It took a long time to get in to the movie and when I finally did, it was over. Save your money and wait until it ends up in the $5 bucket.

Bought twice and no digital copy in brand new blu ray. Keep on getting around from Best Buy and no solution to solve this problem.

From start to finish, "Enemy" never lost my interest and after it ended with the most unexpected (and scariest) ending in recent years, the movie stayed in my head for days. Truly a mind-boggling experience that you won't forget. Jake Gyllenhaal has been choosing great projects in the past few years and "Enemy" contains not one but two impressive performances from him.

This hidden gem of a film is one of the best films of the year. It is incredibly challenging, hauntingly filmed, and very very eerie. It's like a puzzle that begs to be solved, and it stays with you for days. And that ending is sure to get you talking. Great film!
