    Great Sounding Center Channel Speaker

I bought this speaker to go with my upgraded 5.1 system, in my smallish family room (13'X17"). I use it with a Pioneer VSX-820, a JBL Sub12, and Bose 201's for my front speakers and Bose 161's for my rear surrounds. The CC-5 has a big sound, very crisp and clear, and can be loud when I want it to be. I am pleased with my purchase.

    Could work in right setup

I am by no means an audiophile but I tried with the help of my father who is very tech savy to make this speaker work with my setup. I have a 5.1 setup in my average size living room. Yamaha amp powerering two klipsch tower speakers, acoustic research surrounds and a JBL sub. The center I replaced was a 15 year old Radioshack Optimus hand me down. Hooked up the cc-5 and did not notice a huge difference in sound from the start, watched TV and listened to music. It wasn't until the next day when I watched a hockey playoff game that I realized I was struggling to hear the dialogue because the arena noise was drowning out the center. My dad and tried many things, cranked the center all the way up, dropped the left and right's down. We changed the configuration, from toslink optical to HDMI. Played with the settings on my cable box, changed the settings on my amp -from TV/Sports to Suround decoder, etc. We began to wonder if it was my signal from the cable box or if my amp was unevenly distributing the signal. After a few days I decided to plug back in the old radioshack center. With my girlfriend on the couch we both immediately noticed the Optimus spit out the dialogue louder than the energergy cc-5. That's when I packed it up and brought it back to BB. To be fair, my left and right speakers are considerably big and crank pretty well. I believe I spent 300 a piece on them back in late 2008. I think if your left and right speakers are smaller or output less than mine you could find yourself very happy with this center however, it failed in my setup. The BB audio salesman told me it would be unlikely that I would solve the dialogue issue with a comprable speaker, but was nice enough to check in the back for a more expensive open box center. I didn't want to exceed 250. He sold me the Definitive Tech cs-8040. Retails for 500 but was able to get it for 350 due to open box. He hooked it up in the store, made sure it worked, and I am now happy as a clam. Paid a little more than I wanted to but obtained the desired results, I was able to adjust my left and right speakers back to a normal decibal, and currently have the center set at a plus 3 (of 10). Sorry for being long winded, but I feel a review like this could have saved me a few hours of tinker time, had I been able to find one.

I went for years thinking my hearing was the problem with my old center channel speaker. Then I bought this one along with the CB-5 bookshelf speakers. Holy cow...the things I've been missing! I can actually Hear AND understand the dialog in movies now! This is a great center channel speaker, especially in this price range, and it's compact. In fact, it's smaller than the one it replaced and fits great in our entertainment center. Big, full, and clear sound from this baby!

My wife decided to change the room around, we have 5.1 in the ceiling. So, we moved the TV to an apposing wall, thus needing a new center channel speaker. We had a specific dimension in order to use in our new entertainment center. We went to a Best Buy with a Magnolia in it. I'm thinking this thing is going to cost an arm and a leg. We listened to it compared to a $700+ speaker next to it, the sound of this "Klipsch" speaker did just as well as something three times it's price. I wasn't thrilled about $220 for a Center Speaker, but, am I glad I did. The sound the speaker produces, improved the overall sound quality in my entertainment room. What a world of difference. Now I am contemplating repacing all my speakers in the room with the "Energy/Klipsch" speaker set up. Well worth the $$$

I need a center to match my CF-70's...had a small pinnacle center that was way to harsh or bright with no bass with it's 3" woofers...I demoed this with my same denon amp that was 95 watts RMS and Cf-70...wow ...sounded better than the definitive centers I listened to...the only center that sounded better was the CC-10 which was way to deep for the for over TV with wall mount...and blends nicely with the CF-70...and my AMP.

I have owned this speaker for around 6 months. When i first bought it, i had previously only been using a pair of bookshelf speakers(Klipsch KB-15) with no center no sub and no surround. It solved for the exact problem i was having which was picking out dialog in movies and TV shows while i was using just the Klipsch bookshelf speakers and fit nicely into my TV stand where the matching Klipsch center(KC-25) did not. I was surprised with the range and clarity it produced while listening to music and fell in love with the "warmer" sound it produced over the Klipsch. So when it came time to add in the last pieces of audio system i purchased Energy after being a long time Klipsch fan. Though Energy and Klipsch are essentially the same company they have very distinct sounds when it comes to their speakers and i think energy has won me over.

This is a good looking speaker and I think it would be great for a small room. If you have tower speakers, 5.5 bookshelf speakers, or a large room this center will not be enough. Buy the bigger energy duel 5.5 which is the next level up. I had to return this center because my Energy 5.5 book shelf speaker over powered the "little center". My energy 12 inch sub went wild as the sound was just too mush for the " little center". Well I returned the speaker to BB and the sales person was great. Unfortunately, they had sold through the cb10. So I went home and plugged in my old POLk c10 center and i gained a new appreciation for the old POLk.
